After shareholders voted against it. 🤔

Quick_Possibility_99 2026-01-28 22:40

Hope they invest a lot more. full integration tn the car. ari and tesla native voice gets confuse. hope ari will control the car sooner or later.

neoflex 2026-01-28 22:46

🤮 I am glad I sold all my shares already. That’s so sad to see Elon destroying this brand even more

Academic_Release5134 2026-01-28 22:48

They aren’t interested in cars anymore. They’re gonna try to make this a robot company.

VideoGameJumanji 2026-01-28 22:49

Brother he’s been claiming that shit for years

EVSTW 2026-01-28 22:49

Lmao what a conflict of interest... Elon is scum.

beargambogambo 2026-01-28 22:50

The service centers are horrible these days. I would not be surprised if the stock price has a major crash over the next 5 years.

DoritoDustThumb 2026-01-28 22:52

It's a vibes stock already. Not supported by any fundamentals.

GarrySandhu22 2026-01-28 22:53

Yes, a non-binding shareholder proposal in **November 2025** that would have authorized a potential investment in xAI **did not pass**, largely due to abstentions being counted as "no" votes under Tesla's bylaws. But it was non-binding shareholder proposal

spamlet 2026-01-28 23:00

Yeah but now they’re killing the S and X to do it.

TryIsntGoodEnough 2026-01-28 23:02

How is that not a giant conflict of interest

vita_man 2026-01-28 23:02

As someone whose car has been at the service center for 2+ months, "waiting for parts" definitely agree.

TryIsntGoodEnough 2026-01-28 23:03

Ironic they claim that their robot is working on their Austin factory and yet there hasn't been a single photo, video or even word of mouth claiming this is true... Also the fact that the thing still can't even bend at the waist so it is basically as useful as a robotic arm.... Which was already being used

benjamin_noah 2026-01-28 23:08

Side note: Clicking that link took me to X for the first time in about a year. Have all the advertisers left? All I saw were ads for custom t-shirts. They must be hemorrhaging cash.

jasoncross00 2026-01-28 23:09

Massive breach of Musk's fiduciary responsibility, and criminal self-dealing. A sane board would press charges, not just fire him. The Tesla board, however, are sychophants.

anonymousbopper767 2026-01-28 23:12

Me with a draft letter threatening arbitration for my recent service center experience…:

Important-Ebb-9454 2026-01-28 23:17

You remove the abstain votes, and it was mostly positive.

david98116 2026-01-28 23:19

There were more yes votes than no but it did not reach a high enough participation to pass due to most voters abstaining

descendency 2026-01-28 23:21

That’s been true for a decade+

eskjcSFW 2026-01-28 23:22

TSLA is pretty much a mega cap spac

goodguybrian 2026-01-28 23:24

This is awesome and what the Tsla shareholders wanted!

Lovevas 2026-01-28 23:32

stock price won't crash because of horrible service center.

oasiscat 2026-01-28 23:35

Going full Tyrell Corporation.

oasiscat 2026-01-28 23:35

This has gotta be a money laundering scheme.

Snakend 2026-01-28 23:41

And it is going to happen. Timing is just off.

_BreakingGood_ 2026-01-28 23:57

Oh it's working there. It takes the dirty coffee mugs from the break room counter and drops them in the sink.

Scro86 2026-01-28 23:58

lol that’s actually a really eloquent way to put it!

May have seen by now https://techcrunch.com/2026/01/28/tesla-is-killing-off-the-model-s-and-model-x/

Academic_Release5134 2026-01-29 00:02

So no cars big enough for a family and a truck no one wants.

INDY_RAP 2026-01-29 00:07

Yea so they voted against it lol.

INDY_RAP 2026-01-29 00:08

Well if that mattered then it wouldn't passed. But it didn't so....

david98116 2026-01-29 00:10

Not really. Better stated to say it did not pass. Either way...

districtcurrent 2026-01-29 00:11

Why criminal? Do you think shareholders will get a poor return on their money for this? I’d love to invest directly into xAI, and now I have a way.

INDY_RAP 2026-01-29 00:12

Well no... Just one way because it didn't pass lol.

LionTigerWings 2026-01-29 00:19

If musk is acting in the best interest of xAI instead of Tesla it would be considered criminal.

WhoPutATreeThere 2026-01-29 00:22

Hyundai owns 80% of Boston Dynamics.. they are still a car company.

VeryRealHuman23 2026-01-29 00:22

Solar City has entered the chat

FTD_Brat 2026-01-29 00:30

Indeed, will age like milk

TryIsntGoodEnough 2026-01-29 00:31

Know what else can do that task? A robotic arm that they already had deployed in the factory lol.... Hell I had a robotic arm make me a mixed drink at the airport... Wait I know what Optimus can be used for... They can shove an Optimus on one of those boxes and have it make mixed drinks from things are are within arms reach without having to bend over!!!

TryIsntGoodEnough 2026-01-29 00:32

Sorry... Solar city? Never heard of it... Sounds like vaporware

districtcurrent 2026-01-29 00:33

Tesla owner a big piece of one of the largest foundational models of AI is a good investment. I’m happy as a share holder.

david98116 2026-01-29 00:37

_GloryKing_ 2026-01-29 00:39

Elon's shell game. Reminds me of SpaceX buying a bunch of Cybertrucks.

Intelligent_Top_328 2026-01-29 00:43

Spacex when

benso87 2026-01-29 00:44

Is there actually a difference, though?

MillardFillmore 2026-01-29 00:47

Who’s going to do anything about it?

Academic_Release5134 2026-01-29 00:48

Yeah and they are focused on cars. Elon is bored of cars and doesn’t want to compete.

DefinitelyNotSnek 2026-01-29 00:56

He literally poached talent and resources from Tesla to create xAI, and now he’s convincing Tesla to buy back into this company (at an inflated valuation) to save it from the mountains of cash it’s burning. He’s just using Tesla as a piggy bank for his pet AI projects while abandoning the sustainability mission that Tesla was created for.

Forsaken-Topic-7216 2026-01-29 01:01

there’s a recently added location within driving distance and the service was great, no issues, and the loaner vehicle is also nice

Forsaken-Topic-7216 2026-01-29 01:02

but the other locations nearby are unprofessional and understaffed

Opposite-Knee-2798 2026-01-29 01:02

Nope. Reread it.

Opposite-Knee-2798 2026-01-29 01:03

We’re not talking about if it mattered. The claim was made that they voted against it. They did not.

AtomicSymphonic_2nd 2026-01-29 01:15

It’s more like… TSLA voters abstaining didn’t really care about it, so they just didn’t vote for it. Which can be very easily interpreted to mean “Sure, whatever.”

beargambogambo 2026-01-29 01:17

districtcurrent 2026-01-29 01:17

How is it abandoned? I never became an investor for that anyways. I don’t see how it’s abandoned but it’s also represents a small % of investors

Kroosn 2026-01-29 01:22

You missed out on the Temu ads and crypto scams?

CaptnUchiha 2026-01-29 01:27

That’s not how voting works though

benjamin_noah 2026-01-29 01:32

I guess so. That’s a wild fall from grace.

jonlmbs 2026-01-29 01:34

Fire musk and the stock tanks. The stock is the product.

iJeff 2026-01-29 01:56

It was known in advance that abstentions would effectively count as "no" votes due to the threshold requirements.

iJeff 2026-01-29 02:01

Hopefully it improves, but I've been disappointed in the xAI integration in my 2024 M3P. It doesn't really get the navigation questions right and the lack of natively multimodal input makes it feel antiquated compared to Gemini Live or ChatGPT Advanced Voice Mode.

Forsaken-Topic-7216 2026-01-29 02:23

it’s a shame they don’t have better standards across all service stations and let things like that happen. you’d expect better considering the cost of most service appointments

sdmember 2026-01-29 02:51

You wrote fraud wrong

BBQasaurus 2026-01-29 03:10

It feels kinda like the difference between not guilty and innocent.

TheteslaFanva 2026-01-29 03:18

This is kind of the answer too. If the AI game keeps running, this will be a big payoff. Plus tesla is already valued as a robot AI company.

districtcurrent 2026-01-29 03:29

It’s a good investment regardless of the fact that it’s owned my Elon. Look at how the valuation of xAI has gone. We actually already missed a ton of upside investing this late. It’s growing faster than Tesla. Always invest in the opportunity you have access to that will reap the greatest growth. They have $40B+ in cash. Can’t just have it sit there. What do all these critics suggest? Stock buy back? Screw that. Let’s keep investing in new technology that will benefit the company.

throwaway4231throw 2026-01-29 03:40

It’s not a conflict. It’s vertical integration.

Snoo93079 2026-01-29 04:03

WhoPutATreeThere 2026-01-29 04:14

If 80% of your sales come from selling cars, you’re a car company.

Virtamancer 2026-01-29 04:17

But there were **more yes votes than no votes**. Convenient detail to leave out. It didn’t “not pass” because “no” won—yes won, there just weren’t enough total votes to make the overall motion official.

Snoo93079 2026-01-29 04:20

There's what you are financially and there's what you are aspirationally. Musk clearly think Tesla's destiny is not that of a "car company"

The market killed the S/X

agk23 2026-01-29 05:15

Yeah, definitely doesn’t have to do with a history of rash and dumb decisions. There’s absolutely a market for luxury EVs but Elon is too arrogant to realize people don’t want falcon doors, don’t want steering yokes, they want wipers that work, they want a shifter, they don’t want to be fucked by empty promises, and they just want their $120k car to just work and stop changing. Not to mention dancing on stage with a chainsaw as he sells out America.

Odd-Bike166 2026-01-29 05:24

Of course. But the mistakes that led to the S/X dropping in volume happened half a decade ago , when that refresh should’ve been a full new model with real premium materials, worthy of the price tag.

agk23 2026-01-29 05:26

Yeah that’s my point, it wasn’t “the market” that killed it because there absolutely is a market for that type of car

topbossultra 2026-01-29 05:56

ClassroomOwn4354 2026-01-29 05:56

>**Tunneling** or **tunnelling** is [financial fraud](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Financial_fraud) committed by "the transfer of assets and profits out of firms for the benefit of those who control them".[^(\[1\])](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tunneling_(fraud)#cite_note-1) In legal terms, this is known as a [fraudulent transfer](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fraudulent_transfer), such as when a group of major [shareholders](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shareholders) or the [management](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Management) of a publicly traded company orders that company to sell off its assets to a second company at unreasonably low prices. The shareholders or management typically own the second company outright, and thus profit from the otherwise disastrous sale. Tunneling differs from outright theft because people who engage in tunneling generally comply with all of the relevant legal procedures; it is thus a subtler scheme than simply writing checks from a company to a private bank account. While people widely agree that tunneling is unethical, penalties for it vary widely; some states impose criminal sanctions, whereas other states provide either for civil suits only, or for no sanctions at all. [Tunneling (fraud) - Wikipedia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tunneling_(fraud))

Salted_Fried_Eggs 2026-01-29 06:37

If you know that abstaining counts as a no vote, then there will be voters who abstain instead of voting no. You can't conclude that yes won.

twinbee 2026-01-29 07:45

True, but both doesn't hurt.

AlyssaTree 2026-01-29 07:45

Not when abstaining means no in their bylaws.

byyie 2026-01-29 08:13

Not really. That’s what poor people say in attempt to escape reality.

EddiewithHeartofGold 2026-01-29 10:46

What do you mean? What fraud?

EddiewithHeartofGold 2026-01-29 10:57

Is there no moderation here? Most top level comments are just negative Nancys. Are they here for a tap on the back? Pathetic.

Seansong82 2026-01-29 11:02

SpaceX as well.

Virtamancer 2026-01-29 11:45

Except literally not. That argument taken to its limit is “if you know that the vote doesn’t matter at all, then regardless of whether you vote yes/no/abstain you’re voting for whichever action Elon ultimately takes—which was equivalent to ***yes***”. Any way you characterize it, yes had more votes, objectively and in effect.

Salted_Fried_Eggs 2026-01-29 12:01

It's not saying the vote doesn't matter at all, it's just saying that no and abstain both equal no, while yes only means yes.

_komocode 2026-01-29 12:36

there's a bigger market to focus on.

JFreader 2026-01-29 12:36

mamp_93 2026-01-29 12:45

I can smell your EDS from here

districtcurrent 2026-01-29 13:01

What reason is that? I’ve been hearing bubble for years now. I agree that on the edges it’s frothy, but I don’t expect a dot com style bubble

Mastaking 2026-01-29 13:31

Why are there so many musk haters in these subreddits?

slow__rush 2026-01-29 13:34

Dont try to argue with people like him, he will agree to anything Elon does MAGA style.

a_moniker 2026-01-29 14:49

And investors knew that ahead of time. I’m sure plenty of people abstained from voting because they knew it would count as a vote no. I’m not gonna use effort to tell someone no when we both agreed no contact was gonna be counted as the same thing.

Flipslips 2026-01-29 15:59

Tesla bought Solar City a while back. (Elons solar company)

TryIsntGoodEnough 2026-01-29 17:00

EddiewithHeartofGold 2026-01-30 17:44

What does Enron have to do with Tesla's investment in xAI?

rustybeancake 2026-01-30 18:26

How about the news yesterday that SpaceX are in talks to merge with xAI, or Tesla?!

Team-Rocketto-Dan 2026-01-30 18:45

Hate to break it to you, but a proper refresh would bot have saved them. The market for luxury EVs exists just like the market for EV trucks, but they are still very small markets barely worthy of a dedicated factory and contingent on the EV subsidies. It's not a coincidence that after the Big 'Beautiful' Bill passed and removed a crucial revenue stream of other companies buying carbon credits from Tesla, that the company does a hard pivot to other ventures.

LanceUpperrrcut 2026-01-30 22:36

I just think Tesla is overvalued and could cost a lot of people their savings. I hope I'm wrong. I just don't think this company is close to it's current valuation.

Agitated_Reveal_6211 2026-01-31 01:02

I have had mine a similar time. In the beginning it was backed up a little more. Then it got good except for you couldn’t call. Now it’s going downhill and I have to frequently wait for superchargers on long trips.

eddytedy 2026-01-31 17:08

Except Berkshire Hathaway has a history of earnings to help validate its valuation.

eddytedy 2026-01-31 17:12

It’s pathetic that mods aren’t just catering opinions to your preferred view? If you like this move, explain why? Pretty recently shareholders did not vote in favor of an investment like this. So the popular sentiment that “isnt being moderated” is similar to shareholders of $TSLA

weaz-am-i 2026-01-31 17:30

Correction, its just another Berkshire Hathaway but only invests in Felon's companies.

glmory 2026-02-01 05:35

Not really, a few years ago they were growing fast enough that it was credible they got to their valuation. Now that they are declining in a growing market that is much harder to believe.

No_Refrigerator3371 2026-02-02 06:45

Yeah that applies to every american company.

Sigmatics 2026-02-03 19:22

Saintcanuck 2026-02-09 05:10

They have a lot of money now that model x will not be built
