Looks cool, but I’m not a fan of brake lights / turn signals that are in the lower bumper instead of where you think they would be. (Where the marker lights / light bar is) A lot of Kia’s and Hyundai models do this (and it’s confusing to drivers.

gucknbuck 2026-01-04 19:55

The lower blinker is awesome IMO. When it's in the same housing, the brake and turn signal can't be on at the same time, which I'd argue gives bad signals (no pun intended). The only reason having it lower could be an issue is if you are tailgating, to which I say stop tailgating.

moldy912 2026-01-04 20:06

That’s not true, tons of cars have separate blinkers and brakes in the same housing.

gucknbuck 2026-01-04 20:07

But when the blinker activates, the brake light for that side doesn't initiate, only the other side.

moldy912 2026-01-04 20:08

That is literally not true. Tons of cars have independent blinkers and brakes in the same light that work at the same time. Stop downvoting me because you don’t know what you’re talking about.

President_Connor_Roy 2026-01-04 20:12

This isn’t true in many cars, even in some Teslas that have a separate amber turn signal lights… Objectively dumb placement on the cybercab here.

gucknbuck 2026-01-04 20:12

This literally is true as the majority of manufactures moved to a single bulb many years ago. lastlaugh100 2026-01-04 20:17

no rear glass?

cuddlepwince 2026-01-04 20:23

Is that the model Y 6 seater?

PokeCapt 2026-01-04 20:25

Cybercab

moldy912 2026-01-04 20:31

I have had multiple cars that this isn’t the case. I’m just arguing that they exist, which is easier to prove than your claim. Toyota Tacoma has had this. My C5 A6 had this. Your source of a bronco not having this does not mean all cars are like the bronco.

JAG319 2026-01-04 20:43

it was deemed unnecessary for a driverless cab

Left-Recognition2106 2026-01-04 20:44

Looks sexy.

woalk 2026-01-04 20:45

Of course they can be on at the same time, if the US actually used proper amber turn signals like the rest of the world.

Zestyclose-Let7929 2026-01-04 20:51

These terrify me. They are too goth. Terror on wheels. It looks dangerous to any pedestrian. Run u down and keep on going. Description is 😑. The driver description? Just ◼️ .

miloworld 2026-01-04 21:15

Isn’t the point to let the driver behind to see ahead as well?

Faangdevmanager 2026-01-04 21:19

This is where they are supposed to be though. Some people did spot some in the wild in San Francisco.

Suitable_Switch5242 2026-01-04 21:23

The current Model 3 and Model Y have amber turn signals that can be on at the same time as the brake light in the same housing.

andrew2018022 2026-01-04 21:24

When have you ever cared to look in the rear windshield of the car in front of you?

PM_ME_YOUR_CTOE 2026-01-04 21:25

I fell in love 😍

[deleted] 2026-01-04 21:33

[deleted]

well4foxake 2026-01-04 21:37

Lol.. Willy Wonka went out to do some shopping.

Suitable_Switch5242 2026-01-04 21:37

For that to be effective we’d need to outlaw rear window tint and mandate that vehicles all be the same height.

Suitable_Switch5242 2026-01-04 21:39

I think the lack of steering wheel and pedals might be a larger impediment. There’s no reason a consumer can’t buy and drive a car without a rear window. See the Polestar 4. Or any cargo van.

ngonzales80 2026-01-04 21:39

All the time. It gives me advances warning if something is happening ahead of the car I'm following.

moon_moon_doggo 2026-01-04 21:43

![gif](giphy|relnvfSEa2Qa125uPA) That license plate. Anyway, ... there is no 3rd brake light.

SameCat1171 2026-01-04 21:43

Exactly. Lack of rear window means nothing. You don’t legally need a rear window. Only side mirrors

cullenjwebb 2026-01-04 21:47

The person you responded to isn't saying that zero cars share the same bulb for turn and brake signals so posting examples of that doesn't contradict them or their preference for multiple bulbs in the same housing.

NikolaWasRight13 2026-01-04 21:49

Should have been 4 seaters.

andrew2018022 2026-01-04 22:00

I can honestly say I’ve never done that and we were never taught that in driving school

vuhv 2026-01-04 22:04

Why? Polestars have cars on the market right now without a rear window.

paulwesterberg 2026-01-04 22:08

The reason the brake lights are lower is so they can be visible when the tailgate is up. If you have lights on the tailgate then you need fixed secondary lights somewhere. Tesla is cheap and only wants to pay for one set of brake lights.

Rxyro 2026-01-04 22:10

GEY

FYou2 2026-01-04 22:25

But side mirror are a must.

Behind_the_fence 2026-01-04 22:40

Legally yes.

TheGamerguy110 2026-01-04 22:51

Wholeheartedly agree. these will be nice for commuting to and from work, but what if you are a family of four trying to go to the airport? Nobody wants to ride in two separate cars, so they are going to end up choosing an Uber or a Waymo instead

ThankYouMrUppercut 2026-01-04 22:52

I can see them looking down at their phone instead of driving when the light turns green :(

LitePenguins 2026-01-04 23:18

If you're more than 2, why can you not order a Model S/3/X/Y?

Salategnohc16 2026-01-04 23:20

Or....a model Y. Between 95 and 98% of total Taxi drives have 2 or 1 passengers. It would be totally stupid to have a 4 seater as the base car.

TheGamerguy110 2026-01-04 23:29

Good point, I forgot about the Ys that are already being used as taxis. I wonder if they'll eventually remove the steering wheels when the safety drivers are unnecessary?

l00lol00l 2026-01-05 00:24

Yup.I think this is the plan.

Snakend 2026-01-05 00:26

Everyone's back glass is tinted today anyways. So that has not been a thing for decades.

Snakend 2026-01-05 00:27

No you can't. Everyone's back glass is tinted.

Logitech4873 2026-01-05 00:33

Wtf are you on about. Blinkers and brake lights aren't even the same colour.

ThankYouMrUppercut 2026-01-05 00:37

Not even remotely true.

Snakend 2026-01-05 00:45

you can't see through my back glass. So what does it matter if you can't see through this robotaxi's glass?

StudentWu 2026-01-05 00:48

When can people take a ride?

LilBrownBoyX 2026-01-05 01:26

Lmao I had to go back and check when I saw this. Gey.

TisMeDA 2026-01-05 01:28

Trucks and panel vans don't necessarily have this though, so idk why a short car would need it

GoSh4rks 2026-01-05 01:33

They are the same exact light on my 2018 model 3.

Suitable_Switch5242 2026-01-05 02:01

They often are in the US, and sometimes even share the same bulb. But this isn’t the only way to do it, and other current model Teslas have separate amber turn signals even in the US.

Quin1617 2026-01-05 02:13

If you live in a sane country they are. America isn’t sane, so we have red brake lights *and* turn signals. Totally not unsafe or confusing in the slightest.

PrestigiousShift134 2026-01-05 02:39

Looks sick. I kinda want one if it comes with a wheel? Lmao

MrGadgetKing 2026-01-05 03:04

These should have glass roofs. Best application for it since you can actually take your eyes off the road when riding in one.

metallicadefender 2026-01-05 03:43

This is the new Model Y? No rear glass?

wwwz 2026-01-05 05:24

Where are the huge panel gaps?

wwwz 2026-01-05 05:24

For now...

Behind_the_fence 2026-01-05 05:25

hopefully not for long.

Jstsqzd 2026-01-05 05:55

Mirrors are a dead giveaway, human drivers still.

the_fabled_bard 2026-01-05 06:47

Those aren't side mirrors. They're impallers

SpicyElixer 2026-01-05 06:47

machtwo 2026-01-05 07:22

Did they scrap the light bar in the back?

0Rider 2026-01-05 07:29

The brake lights/rear tail light is aweful like the cybertruck

gttom 2026-01-05 07:59

That’s why everywhere in the world outside North America requires amber lights for turn signals front and rear, it’s always a separate lamp from the brakes

idkHowToUseReddet 2026-01-05 08:29

job description to train those types of cars have the person sit on the passenger seat and look over it so yes basically human drivers still

chadarmod666 2026-01-05 11:50

Cybercab

buergidunitz107 2026-01-05 13:24

I don't think there's much point in actually having a separate model as a two seater cab. An adapted Model Y might have been a good bet instead.

allofdarknessin1 2026-01-05 18:13

Good point but cybercabs will probably be the premium tier like getting your own uber for a single rider . As the person below commented , the Model Y will be used for groups above 2 and eventually in time the Tesla Bus/Van or whatever it’s called will take bigger groups.

shaggy99 2026-01-05 20:12

How ate they getting away with no high level brake light? Yes, I know there is no rear glass, many vehicles don't have rear glass, (mostly vans) but they still have high level brake lights.

Responsible-Income30 2026-01-05 23:58

Beauty

Own_Reaction9442 2026-01-06 00:16

Passenger has to be able to see traffic and bicyclists before they open the door.

drby224 2026-01-06 01:56

Have two and four seaters could be less efficient. It means more cars are needed to ensure a car with the probably seat count is nearby. Otherwise, people will have a to wait longer for a ride and the vehicle will need to drive farther to meet the riders.

[deleted] 2026-01-06 04:11

They look a lot taller from the rear than the side profile makes them seem

paul-sladen 2026-01-06 20:34

Various Indo-European languages pronounce the number six as Seks/Sechs/Seis/Sex… ie. "Sex-ey".

denzien 2026-01-06 22:34

They work better when they're on the wheels so they spin around

moon_moon_doggo 2026-01-07 00:16

Bderken 2026-01-07 01:55

I think they made the tops and trunk of these super heavy duty since people tend to trash driverless cars. Like people vandalize Waymo’s a lot. Jumping on them etc. So I think they made these cybertruck style for that purpose

shw2000 2026-01-07 02:46

They look like cylons

One-Government7447 2026-01-07 07:36

it looks so cheap with the light so far down

Fabulous_Reward_6661 2026-01-07 08:43

Damn thats ugly.

brvheart 2026-01-07 14:47

If these ever come north there will be people posting videos of rando’s scraping snow off the back windscreen at a red light and being even more pissed that there is no window.

ace-treadmore 2026-01-07 18:22

95% of rides are 2 people or less

_idiocracy__ 2026-01-07 21:18

Also more difficult to see if you're in a truck and city traffic.

UchihaDragon430 2026-01-08 10:14

These must be the 2 I saw yesterday in the morning.

LeadingComparison559 2026-01-08 10:45

Hi how are you doing kindly texts me on here now 🚀💌💌💌

dirtygpu 2026-01-08 15:05

They kjnda look ugly lmao

FlyingSolo57 2026-01-08 18:31

Love the color although unexpected. It looks like it has a tint of green in it.

Bob-Whizcast 2026-01-10 20:49

No high mounted 3rd brake light?

Ill-Dog923 2026-01-11 02:03

I firmly believe that if you build a car with something near the top that looks like a brake light, but it doesn't illuminate, you should not be allowed to sell it, and you should be flogged... repeatedly.

Ill-Dog923 2026-01-11 02:05

This way you can't see that you are about to be rear ended by someone that expects the brake lights to be up high where those brake-light-looking things are.

Bderken 2026-01-11 02:16

They had similar issues with the cybertruck, fixed it with a software update. It clearly has the lights there, they can fix it if it’s a problem.

[deleted] 2026-01-11 07:33

What are they

[deleted] 2026-01-11 07:35

If people knew how to drive the location of the turn signal and stop lights shouldn’t matter. I’m a pretty new Tesla driver and people drive teslas worse then a Prius

NewNewark 2026-01-13 06:21

But for pax experience?

JAG319 2026-01-14 03:11

Idk, I've never looked out the back window of my ubers i guess
