Tesla Insurance finally arrives to Florida-New owners for now

Cg006 | 2025-12-18 17:55 | 117 views

Have been waiting for this announcement for ages. I have read alot of mixed stuff about it. I am curious if FL holders will get a discount to FSD. Would love this. The reviews I’ve read haven’t been mixed at all: It’s cheap, but they won’t even answer the phone when you need them. Huge skip in my opinion.

Probably because they’re about to have their license revoked in CA.

With me recently, got into an accident and the reply time was unbelievable fast , legit I send a email and in 5 minutes I would get a reply every time. Then it got to the point where they were gonna give me an estimate for my car since it was a total loss and it’s radio silence. Where I’m banging my head against a wall Edit: it’s like they saw this post and finally started getting ball rolling again

Nooooo

Good riddance. I had to file multiple complaints with the CDI, just to get them to finalize my claim. They completely failed to file the mandatory paperwork with the DMV. I was still getting letters from the DMV almost a year later.

I would not mind giving it a try when it reaches my state but I am bundled auto and home insurance and lets just say, the discount on my home insurance magically goes away if I swap to nearly the cost of the auto insurance. (ty SF) Now that Florida has it gives me a bit of hope, it was announced they were in early conversations with our state before expansion stopped. A discount while using FSD would be welcome provided the deduction is not lost for interrupting FSD which I do often because of poor speed limit data

> There is one major caveat for Floridian Tesla owners who are hoping to switch immediately with the news. Eligibility is currently restricted to those taking delivery of new Tesla vehicles. Existing owners looking to switch policies from a legacy insurance provider cannot sign up quite yet. that's silly, I just bought the damn thing.

Hope not would like to keep my nice rate. I don’t want to have to return to progressive or geico for double the price

cmdr-William-Riker 2025-12-19 05:06

This has been my experience when dealing with Tesla in general as an owner they are super friendly when everything is going well then whenever they make a mistake or have to take responsibility for something I get total radio silence from them and then they drag their feet. I had to wait 4 hours in a waiting room after my scheduled pickup time when I first bought the car and I still have no idea what the heck took them so long or what the point of scheduling a pickup time was if they weren't going to be ready by that time.

Geomextry 2025-12-19 05:26

Need it in GA

specter491 2025-12-19 14:56

Seems about the same as any other Tesla service lol

Welcome to the Internet. There's a scientifically-proven phenomenon where generally, people post online about bad experiences, not good ones. Go to the Reddit threads for insurance or any other industry, and it's mainly disgruntled people posting. r/Geico/ -- the Best threads as of the moment I post this, are people quitting working at Geico because of the toll on their mental health. Or go to any airline's reddit. It's mainly travelers complaining about Spirit/Delta/Frontier/American/United/Southwest etc. If I see a company/organization where even 15% of comments are positive, I think, "Hey that's not bad!" Negativity is the baseline.

Iv also heard this at well, idk if im just lucky but tesla service centers and recently the tesla collision center have all been friendly and speedy with me. A while back i had a huge thick nail in the tire and i went to small tires shops to see if i could get it patched. None wanted to see it and just wanted to sell me a whole new wheel. I went to a Tesla service center, they looked it at, they did tell me it might be too big (giggty) to be patched but they’ll look at it. A hour passed and they managed to patch it for $70. I wish I knew how to Reddit and attach the image of it but they did magic of the tire

elh0mbre 2025-12-19 23:43

Company policy is that Tesla Service Centers dont patch tires. You sure they actually removed the nail?

From what I've heard about tesla insurance i would hard pass on them even if it's substantial discount. The point of insurance is to make you whole when you have a claim. Especially when it's your primary method of transportation. Anything that takes time or does not pay within 30 days is not insurance. From what I've heard they take the money quick but don't pay out when you need it. Pass

thewittman 2025-12-21 11:08

Yeah this feels like a scam to me ghost you till what you agree to less compensation? Would a person give up? My insurer Erie requires a photo and 5 days later i got a check. I had water damaged car never left my driveway they came out with a roll back and took the total loss after they paid me. Never once had to call back asking questions. I don't have the time to argue and go back and forth. You pay for coverage when you have a claim they must pay. Anything different is unacceptable.

JeffRep 2025-12-22 02:51

They jacked rates up 28% in CA in August 2024 when CA approved a max of 12.4%. Their customer support said there were other reasons to increase the rate by that much and none of them were related to me driving or accidents or anything else other than just increasing the price. Musk just wants to make more money to spend on foolish crap.

gcfan840 2025-12-22 03:20

that's the same error I get. No damn updates from app store but Tesla app tells me to update to latest version.

runningaroundyou 2025-12-22 03:24

Yes I was excited to get a price too.

Truth_Artillery 2025-12-22 15:28

how is it compared to USAA

Proper-Ad5871 2025-12-22 21:14

I just bought mine as well.. I could not get this information from the app, because it said I needed to update the app, but there is no update available, so I called them and after making me wait on hold for 40 minutes they said it was only for those taking delivery, but they also say you need to have a VIN assigned, so there is a VERY small window where you could get it if you are taking deliver of a vehicle on the lot. They should explain this in the pre-recorded message that I listened to 50 times while on hold.

And closed on weekends. And offices open at 9am PST.

ogar78 2025-12-28 23:45

Just did a rate quote and for a deductible of $1000 and state minimum coverage they want $235. With State Farm I pay $165 and have a $500 deductible and my coverages are triple or more. I average 97% FSD and have no tickets in 3+ years and that ticket was a minor failure to abide sign. Really surprised it was so much more for significantly less coverage.

Cg006 2025-12-29 01:06

Auto Insurance is crazy like that. Rates vary so much.

Cryptotiptoe21 2026-01-18 20:51

Why couldn't you patch your own tire?
