Well if that’s what it takes to get over the 64 kbps Bluetooth or streaming limitation for Apple Music I’m all for it.

Theminecraf72 2025-11-13 17:45

Than it would be the perfect vehicle

HazardousHD 2025-11-13 17:47

I wonder why the sudden change of course. Wonder if it’s so they can potentially license their software to other manufacturers who have this functionality in their own systems currently

unpluggedcord 2025-11-13 17:49

Bloomberg says in an effort to boost sales, but that could just be pure speculation.

cac2573 2025-11-13 17:50

I'll take "Believe it when you see it" for $2000

HazardousHD 2025-11-13 17:50

I can definitely see it being locked behind the paywall of Premium Connectivity.

AishaCtarl 2025-11-13 17:52

Won’t come to Atom cars because they’d blow up 🙄

Disastrous_Patience3 2025-11-13 17:54

Is it only for new cars? Will older cars support it?

havaloc 2025-11-13 17:55

It's a smart, low cost way to push people over the edge who may he hung up on that being a feature on a Tesla while GM doubles down on removing it. I know I'd consider one more strongly. There's an often quoted survey that 86% of people ( maybe iPhone owners? ) wouldn't buy a car without it. Why not remove that objection? And with Starlink eyeing an Apple partnership for satellite communications why not make an olive branch offering?

SSTREDD 2025-11-13 17:55

"Then"

kiki1290 2025-11-13 17:57

“Then”

vipeness 2025-11-13 18:03

Now... do Android Auto to get even more sales.

Edmonton_Canuck 2025-11-13 18:05

It’s a good idea. Would entice the buyers who no longer want a GM product since they got rid of it and were considering Tesla.

Mikep976 2025-11-13 18:05

I swear if they limit this to AMD only or some shit like that I’ll be furious.

Jaws12 2025-11-13 18:06

Other car infotainment systems with low end processing are able to handle it, so I believe Tesla could make it happen on MCU2/Intel Atom vehicles.

IWantToPlayGame 2025-11-13 18:09

I truly hope this happens! But I'm not getting my hopes up high.

Salty_Leather42 2025-11-13 18:09

I’d say brace yourself then . Those celerons are pretty limited

Theminecraf72 2025-11-13 18:10

Bruh

JoeyDee86 2025-11-13 18:11

What’s that? 😂

Rip_Topper 2025-11-13 18:11

Why? I'd rather they spend all their intellectual expertise on a system that catalogs an displays music files on a USB drive. I get a sloppy mess, duplicate files, all track #1's missing, etc

Aromatic_Letter_9972 2025-11-13 18:11

Would this be a hardware or software update?

aravreddy22 2025-11-13 18:12

wen android auto? /s

TheTanith1st 2025-11-13 18:12

Please be true.

PM_ME_YOUR_DANKNESS 2025-11-13 18:14

Oddly enough I feel like the Tesla UI is perfect for what it is, I've never felt like I was missing anything when driving the Tesla esp since you can send map locations to the car from your iPhone. The Tesla nav works really well in my experience but more options are always nice

Own_Trip736 2025-11-13 18:17

If you can afford a Tesla you can afford an iPhone right.

FoShizzleShindig 2025-11-13 18:18

That would be absurd. You're just mirroring your phones screen. No data necessary.

BabyScreamBear 2025-11-13 18:18

Full transparency, I’m a complete Luddite, but I’m guessing this would be a software update They also should let me stream whatever’s on my phone to the Theatre app when the cars parked!

FoShizzleShindig 2025-11-13 18:20

I'd bet 100 bucks on it.

jesperbj 2025-11-13 18:21

that's fking weird. If this is true, it's a huge vote of confidence against Tesla's own software capabilities.

sergedg 2025-11-13 18:22

Would it work in a window then? I'm not sure what extra features this brings? I like Apple play, but for in (rental) cars with poor software.

[deleted] 2025-11-13 18:22

[deleted]

R5Jockey 2025-11-13 18:26

Sweet. Hope this actually happens. I'd love to have Waze on the screen.

variablenyne 2025-11-13 18:26

Dumb and outdated argument, can't even believe people are still doing this "apple vs android" bs. Prices are pretty much the same either way, and people can have their own preferences. -someone who has used both and prefers android

GenghisFrog 2025-11-13 18:26

That’s the only reason I want it haha

Sworgle 2025-11-13 18:28

Some people actually prefer Android phones.

Fantastic_Train_7270 2025-11-13 18:29

jokes on you, my z fold 7 is more expensive than any iphones.

atjones6 2025-11-13 18:31

This is actually interesting because Supercharger details/info were just recently added to Google Maps and Apple Maps. I wonder if there is a more broad interpretation approach they’re looking towards?

havaloc 2025-11-13 18:34

They are saying within a window.

havaloc 2025-11-13 18:35

It is not. It's just another app in the end. A very popular app.

havaloc 2025-11-13 18:35

Apple and Starlink/Tesla warming up to each other.

jesperbj 2025-11-13 18:37

It's an "app" that swaps out the ENTIRE info infotainment system. It would be mean that Tesla no longer thinks they can provide the best experience first party. I think it strives against everything they do and I don't want it.

VanayadGaming 2025-11-13 18:40

oh gods no.

PlasticDiscussion590 2025-11-13 18:41

I sure hope I can opt out of it

Turtlesaur 2025-11-13 18:47

As an android auto user, this better go both ways, or just allow WhatsApp messaging, since I otherwise don't care that much

AWildDragon 2025-11-13 18:47

It’s just going to be a window within the main ui per the article

safetydance 2025-11-13 18:49

What does this mean?

rooddog7 2025-11-13 18:51

Two weeks!

Higgs1 2025-11-13 18:53

Why though? If you’re not interested then don’t use it? Doesn’t seem like it’ll fundamentally change anything about how the infotainment works now just adds more functionality. (Obviously this is rumor but how I interpret it). So idk why you’d be disappointed if it brings something others wants / more sales / and doesn’t impact your use?

Opposite-Knee-2798 2025-11-13 18:54

Thin

Lentriox 2025-11-13 18:57

My Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra was $1,299 before taxes and other miscellaneous fees. It isn't about the money for everyone.

Short-Service1248 2025-11-13 18:57

Ew wtf

netscorer1 2025-11-13 19:00

This would be nice for the apps that Tesla does not support natively. If they bring this compatibility retroactively to the existing vehicles, I see no cons.

colinstalter 2025-11-13 19:02

I would personally bet $200 this will not be happening. Unless they're desperate to increase sales, or Apple is paying them a huge amount to add it.

colinstalter 2025-11-13 19:03

It's kinda funny, because apple has *very* dominant marketshare among higher income adults in the USA, but Tesla owners also tend to be techies, which are a little more likely to have an Android phone.

feurie 2025-11-13 19:04

Any business doing anything will do it in an effort to boost sales.

feurie 2025-11-13 19:04

I wouldn’t.

feurie 2025-11-13 19:05

Tesla owners aren’t really tending to be techies any more. It’s still the US and I’d assume a large majority of Tesla owners are iPhone users.

feurie 2025-11-13 19:06

It’s another window if you want it. Not sure why choice is disappointing.

feurie 2025-11-13 19:08

It brings phone mirroring. Immediately map and music projection that was already running on your phone.

feurie 2025-11-13 19:08

Why? Do you expect older hardware to always support new additional functionality?

ChunkyThePotato 2025-11-13 19:09

I sure hope not.

feurie 2025-11-13 19:10

It’s a window.

feurie 2025-11-13 19:10

No. It’s because some customers are very stubborn.

AWildDragon 2025-11-13 19:11

Yup. Would love to watch some Apple TV at a supercharger

BigGreenBillyGoat 2025-11-13 19:11

*Doubt*

feurie 2025-11-13 19:12

Many surveys have shown people say they only want a new car with phone projection. Could be worth the chance to see if it convinces stubborn customers.

AWildDragon 2025-11-13 19:13

That and better iMessage integration. Right now when I reply to a person in a group chat it responds to that person outside of the chat.

TonyAtCodeleakers 2025-11-13 19:16

It was a joke about how little features come to the atom cars

Fizzdizz 2025-11-13 19:21

Just in time for the holiday update

ZeroWashu 2025-11-13 19:24

I just want full control over my phone connected media library, let me select by track, artist, playlist, and such, and I would be so happy. At one time I could swear we could actually change which track was playing in the playlist

Lantec 2025-11-13 19:25

I’m pretty happy with the current UI but I’m glad there’s options for those who do want to use it

jedi2155 2025-11-13 19:27

Dont care about whatsapp, just give me facebook messenging.

G00bernaculum 2025-11-13 19:29

For now….

redditproha 2025-11-13 19:32

well that's the reason it wasn't offered in the first place. they didn't want to give people a way to bypass Premium

danfoofoo 2025-11-13 19:36

Don't care about Facebook messaging, just give me ability to send smoke signals

dragonfoor 2025-11-13 19:37

I don’t think so

gambling_addikt 2025-11-13 19:37

I doubt it

gmanist1000 2025-11-13 19:38

I honestly don’t believe it. But I wouldn’t be mad if it actually happened.

AishaCtarl 2025-11-13 19:39

This guy gets it

king_of_n0thing 2025-11-13 19:40

WhatsApp web works all right with the browser and voice input.

king_of_n0thing 2025-11-13 19:42

Huh? Why would that be necessary? You can always choose not to activate it on your phone…

redditg0nad 2025-11-13 19:45

Why would you be opposed to this?

stegasaurusnext 2025-11-13 19:47

Don’t care about smoke signals , just give me ability to auto release my carrier pigeons

mgoetzke76 2025-11-13 19:57

Bloomberg doesnt have a good track record though

MutableLambda 2025-11-13 19:57

* Waze * Sane interface to music apps (have you tried searching for music in Tesla's interface? it's pretty confusing) * Your google maps favorites and history (don't have to share the address anymore) * Your messages can be read or displayed on the phone, including non-standard messenger apps * Hopefully podcast auto play, I had it in my Subaru and it was awesome, in Tesla I stopped listening to podcasts because basically it's an extra step to pick up the phone, activate the podcast etc etc

venk 2025-11-13 19:58

That’s the exact cost of the software upgrade

cac2573 2025-11-13 20:00

If it makes FSD usable, maybe it’s worth (since Tesla navigation is a steaming pile)

ChunkyThePotato 2025-11-13 20:00

Because I like cohesive design.

ZEEN0j 2025-11-13 20:01

It’s a joke but also probably true. *Cries in atom

Nomar1245 2025-11-13 20:01

Don’t care about carrier pigeons, just give me ability to send messages with The Pony Express.

Jamez3rd 2025-11-13 20:07

Pretty sure Elon has an iPhone which is why all new stuff appears on iPhone first then comes to Android later

AgonizingFury 2025-11-13 20:11

Right, and if you can afford an iPhone, you can also afford an Android and have something better.

venk 2025-11-13 20:14

I doubt it has any impact on FSD, and I’m sure FSD is deeply integrating into TeslaNav anyways, so re integrating it into a series of third party apps sounds painful.

Present-Ad-9598 2025-11-13 20:42

Even if they DO add it, I probably won’t use it. 99% of the time Tesla’s infotainment works just fine

Present-Ad-9598 2025-11-13 20:42

Oh shoot I didn’t even consider that, so true

[deleted] 2025-11-13 20:42

[deleted]

Present-Ad-9598 2025-11-13 20:45

Bluetooth is a very lossy (compressed) type of audio transmission, and especially thru Tesla, BUT there are other codecs like AAC (Advanced Audio Codec) which is what Apple uses for Apple Music, that streams from phone to stereo at around 250-300Kbps (Kilobits Per Second). Basically all you need to know is higher transmission of data generally means higher quality audio and less compression.

Futfutfutfreestylo 2025-11-13 20:50

But why ?

RegularJT 2025-11-13 20:51

I'm on the same boat with you. I drive with my phone in my pocket and rarely ever feel like I'm missing out on anything.

OptimalTime5339 2025-11-13 21:05

You can already, using the browser or theater mode in the Tesla

Mikep976 2025-11-13 21:05

I mean, yes? My fiancé is using an iPhone 13 Pro, released a month after my car was made, and it literally got a full featured update last month, all the beans and everything. I’d expect the car I paid 50K for to *checks notes* Have a feature a 2020 Mazda has

OptimalTime5339 2025-11-13 21:06

Probably less than 1% of their user base is going to play music off of a flash drive

1988rx7T2 2025-11-13 21:06

who told you it was low cost?

1988rx7T2 2025-11-13 21:09

some tweaks to the spotify app and better message handling (allow Whatsapp, handle group texts) could all be done within the existing Tesla ecosystem unless Meta and Apple are walling them off/requiring a big fee to integrate.

sim16 2025-11-13 21:09

I don't care about all that, tesla needs to release the Epstein Files.

Munkadunk667 2025-11-13 21:11

Now do AirPlay mirroring. It would definitely take the bandwidth strain off the car when trying to watch anything if people choose to just AirPlay it. I know I'd stop using all of the entertainment options in my Tesla if I could just AirPlay to that big ol' screen.

Logical-Rutabaga-875 2025-11-13 21:15

Does the same on Android. Pretty annoying

McFarbles 2025-11-13 21:18

Why the hell would they do that? Had android auto in 3 cars and its consistently trash compared to the Tesla software. Don't have an iPhone but I would imagine its virtually the same thing. Why add 3rd party clunky software to go over what they already have integrated into the car that works way better?

AndrewNeo 2025-11-13 21:25

not enough to prevent this from working, especially if they stop rendering the map

degeneraded 2025-11-13 21:26

Then don’t use it?

jedi2155 2025-11-13 21:29

I don't care about all that, Shoigu/Gerasimov just needs to tell me WHERE IS THE AMMUNITION

ChunkyThePotato 2025-11-13 21:29

I like when products have a cohesive user experience and push users toward good design. Obviously it would be way worse if it was forced on me, but I don't like the fact that there's even the option. Grok is well-integrated and doesn't disrupt the design of the user experience (except for the parallel existence of legacy voice commands, which should be deleted ASAP and integrated into Grok to avoid confusion).

[deleted] 2025-11-13 21:31

[deleted]

ChunkyThePotato 2025-11-13 21:34

If it becomes something people rely on, then that's a crappy sandboxed user experience within a larger user experience. Disgusting. Music apps are fine. I don't use Apple Music but I'm glad it exists on the car for those who do.

Matty_Boosie 2025-11-13 21:44

If you are using premium connectivity or whatever that has the car use its own cell chip is it any better?

redditg0nad 2025-11-13 21:56

I'll reserve judgement until I see how its implemented. You've formulated an opinion on something you haven't seen, touched, or experienced.

tarrasque 2025-11-13 21:57

Plenty of companies develop for Apple first. And some are Android first. The de facto gold standard flying info app (Foreflight EFB) is Apple ONLY in fact. Lots of pilots who are on android ALSO have iPads solely for flying.

tarrasque 2025-11-13 21:59

I have worked in tech for 20 years; more engineers, devs, infosec, netsec, and IT guys are on Apple (iPhone, Mac, etc.) than anything else.

TheMartian2k14 2025-11-13 22:08

Because it doesn’t involve a change in hardware or retrofits. It would be a software update.

Available_Phase775 2025-11-13 22:10

Cant wait!!!!!

TheMartian2k14 2025-11-13 22:12

> Tesla owners tend to be techies Maybe in 2019. It’s a mainstream brand now.

TheMartian2k14 2025-11-13 22:13

Better is subjective, so..no?

colinstalter 2025-11-13 22:14

Yes, but you can't say that on Reddit.

vipeness 2025-11-13 22:15

I've been Android for over 20 years it seems. Went iPhone for the 13 Pro Max, liked it but it was too constricting for a power user so I switched back and got a OnePlus 13. Much better!

[deleted] 2025-11-13 22:15

Can't believe people still buying apples unoriginal, uninspired garbage this day and age.

vipeness 2025-11-13 22:17

Had an iPhone, was too constricting for power users. Went back to Android.

safetydance 2025-11-13 22:17

Same question.

Low-Inspection-6099 2025-11-13 22:31

I think Tesla needs more integrations with maps, music, etc which it lacks. If that were there, I wonder if CP/AA would be any better than native.

TheDragonSlayingCat 2025-11-13 22:39

If you’re using it to directly stream Apple Music over the cellular radio, which requires premium connectivity or a grandfathered-in car, yes. If you’re streaming the music off your phone using Bluetooth, no. That said, most people that are not audiophiles will not notice the difference.

VideoGameJumanji 2025-11-13 22:44

That’s only recently in the past 2 years. It has had a long period of core OS support. It has everything I need, snappier sentry viewing is the main thing I’d want but everything it lacks is a hard limitation. I’m waiting for the next gen MCU with AI5 before I upgrade my car

AWildDragon 2025-11-13 22:58

Isn’t the steaming via the app still 64 kbps due to Apple limiting it on their end?

spasewalkr 2025-11-13 23:04

No - the Apple Music API provides two bitrate levels for streaming, `STANDARD` (64kbps) and `HIGH` (256kbps). For some reason Tesla never requests the higher bitrate even for users with Premium Connectivity https://js-cdn.music.apple.com/musickit/v3/docs/index.html?path=/story/reference-javascript-musickit--page

AWildDragon 2025-11-13 23:13

Thanks for the info.

Dawn_of_an_Era 2025-11-13 23:20

> but more options are always nice They basically said that already?

Dawn_of_an_Era 2025-11-13 23:20

Which is weird because we got Spotify *way* before we got Apple Music, even though both are available on both iPhones and Android devices

Rip_Topper 2025-11-13 23:31

Wow much hate. I've got 8,000+ tracks from my collection sitting in my console. Nice alternative when you've been hearing the same streaming playlists for 5+ years

PerceptionGood- 2025-11-13 23:40

Yeah this is really annoying

oghowie 2025-11-13 23:44

I'd think about cancelling premium if this is true.

1988rx7T2 2025-11-13 23:50

A software update that requires them to pay millions to Apple

teamdragonite 2025-11-14 00:14

that possible iphone starlink is probably a motivator

Geniva 2025-11-14 00:23

Apple navigation powering the Tesla UI would be perfect. Tesla’s routing is pretty poor, but I love the supercharger waypoints and FSD.

terobau 2025-11-14 00:26

It is from Mark Gurman so it’s not gonna happen. He likes to throw out nonsense.

TheMartian2k14 2025-11-14 00:34

Where did you get that from?

scubascratch 2025-11-14 00:38

I wonder if there’s a way to use your phone as a proxy server and change this request parameter on the fly

Mansionjoe 2025-11-14 00:39

Am I the only one that thinks apple play is hot garbage?

scubascratch 2025-11-14 00:40

Cutting losses and reducing costs don’t boost sales

sccooper 2025-11-14 00:49

About 2 cars and 4 years late for me. I'm about to be out of Tesla.

degeneraded 2025-11-14 00:50

Fair, my Reddit brain turned off on the last part

Tower-Union 2025-11-14 01:37

Shit I UPGRADED to atom and was stoked. MCU 1 —> MCU 2 this year.

pw5a29 2025-11-14 01:50

please support my intel car…

bobsil1 2025-11-14 02:13

Trivial cost for any BigCo

snark42 2025-11-14 02:34

In my 20 years tech experience tech users are more likely to be on Android due to lack of control of iPhone hardware/software. However, the younger one is the more likely it's iPhone. Even gen pop in the US is only 55-61% iPhone these days though.

waldo3125 2025-11-14 02:42

Desperately needed imo

aliph 2025-11-14 03:02

android auto is fucking garbage compared to Tesla's native tech.

kdorsey0718 2025-11-14 03:22

I don’t see how this makes it to Bloomberg and is now sitting out there all day without some sort of alternative story being offered.

fragileblink 2025-11-14 03:28

I disagree in several waze.

ilikecrispywaffles 2025-11-14 03:29

I just want Waze

Glittering-Diver-941 2025-11-14 03:50

Well, that’s what you may pay for it

notabot53 2025-11-14 04:03

Adding reminders to iPhone, better calendar, uber and Lyft drivers app

hutacars 2025-11-14 08:12

Why would they have to pay millions to Apple? Apple licenses it for free.

hutacars 2025-11-14 08:16

* ABRP * Teams * Group iMessages that actually work * Libby audiobook controls * YouTube Music * Higher quality Apple Music All kinds of great things, really.

hutacars 2025-11-14 08:21

The whole “lack of control” thing largely faded out by 2013. These days iOS is actually fairly capable.

hutacars 2025-11-14 08:22

What does the price of X have to do with the affordability of Y?

hutacars 2025-11-14 08:35

The great thing about streaming is artists keep coming up with new stuff, and then you get to hear it immediately. Unless your collection is all artists who are broken up or deceased I suppose.

hutacars 2025-11-14 08:36

Can’t believe people put up with Google’s piss poor privacy practices in this day and age

PracticlySpeaking 2025-11-14 10:17

Most systems support both.

Jsaechao1 2025-11-14 10:50

Bullish on warriors all the way down to curry st

OriginalGoldstandard 2025-11-14 11:45

It will happen. I’m fine with phone and Bluetooth

1988rx7T2 2025-11-14 11:50

From people who work in the industry. It was over 50 dollars a car a few years ago. That’s huge money in cost terms.

1988rx7T2 2025-11-14 11:50

Who told you that? Absolutely not true.

UltraAware 2025-11-14 11:58

To be honest, everything except the maps is pretty solid in the Tesla infotainment system. It’s really the selling point to me.

snark42 2025-11-14 14:08

So you're suggesting I can side load custom apps and change the launcher easily on iOS since 2013?

JustHumanGarbage 2025-11-14 14:24

And Android auto???

VegetableSupport3 2025-11-14 14:43

I really like Tesla interface but welcome better voice messages and group messages.

blonded_olf 2025-11-14 14:47

I hate that, I always forget that it does it too.

MiAmMe 2025-11-14 14:57

In five years Bloomberg will report: "Tesla working to bring steering wheels to vehicles."

dbm5 2025-11-14 15:56

yes

sailirish7 2025-11-14 15:58

0% chance this happens

s33n1t 2025-11-14 16:39

Why are people so obsessed with texting and driving? How about focus on the road

ShanerNIdaho 2025-11-14 16:55

I'm stoked for Apple people, but those of us who have Android phones just fucked again. I do not understand in 2025, the differences in between app development for both of these platforms is so minuscule, why don't we have a watch app or are we being considered for integration. I use Android Auto in both my other cars and it's far superior to Tesla's UI. The only benefit the UI has is that it integrates my charging stops but Google seems to do that for me as well now.

Seansong82 2025-11-14 17:06

Cool but ill never use it because Tesla UI and programming is far superior.

oaktreebr 2025-11-14 17:09

Meh

Moistinterviewer 2025-11-14 18:13

I have had good results with Tesla navigation in the U.K. Apple Maps on the other hand outside of the U.K. has caused me big issues when out walking and exploring places like Poland and Hungary.

Turtlesaur 2025-11-14 18:17

This is explicitly so I can use my voice to respond to people who send me WhatsApp messages.

mw212 2025-11-14 18:47

Which on atom CPUs, is painfully slow, has laggy video, desynced video/audio, and constantly gets logged out (might not be an Atom CPU thing). All of which would be resolved by relying on an iPhone to handle all that.

paraCFC 2025-11-14 19:13

It's more because many superchargers become usable to other brands

atjones6 2025-11-14 19:24

Honestly you might be right

Rip_Topper 2025-11-14 20:55

Can't listen to streaming AND your own collection?

Darkseidzz 2025-11-15 00:26

Elon is pretty quick and usually angry to denounce fakenews, though. He didn't say anything this time.

BananaFreeway 2025-11-15 04:48

Don’t miss it

mutantninja001 2025-11-15 06:09

It’s about time. Tesla’s gps can be so bad.

icy1007 2025-11-15 07:20

This isn’t going to happen.

Shahiniali 2025-11-15 14:28

I wonder what it will look like with Tesla system.

Zealousideal-Cry-440 2025-11-15 16:31

Not holding my breath. They can’t even manage to implement a decent version of non-FSD autopilot/TACC. It’s got to be the worst implementation of basic smart cruise control of any automaker. Impossible to make a smooth lane change without canceling it all together, still can’t figure out how to navigate wide lanes due to merge/street parking width (just follow the damn centerline instead of jerking the car over like a maniac or nearly sideswiping parked vehicles), etc. I feel it’s just gotten worse over the past year +. The amount of effort/press paid to FSD for the ~10% of users is ridiculous compared to the lack of effort for basic cruise control functions that ~90% of owners use. A base model economy car should not outperform any Tesla.

jimmy9120 2025-11-15 21:41

Betcha intel won't get it lol

CookieMons7er 2025-11-15 22:18

Doubt

hutacars 2025-11-16 03:42

I’m saying you don’t need to any longer.

PauloDybala_10 2025-11-16 04:37

How does that work

DarthBlue007 2025-11-16 05:22

I wonder if this is an attempt to woo Apple to work with Starlink.

hutacars 2025-11-16 12:33

Then I'd have to buy the music *and* pay for streaming. More expensive. Plus it's rare I want to listen to songs from 10+ years ago anyways.

GenghisFrog 2025-11-16 13:06

That’s not true though. Maybe $50 per car because they had to put a non total trash tier touch screen in it.

mrandr01d 2025-11-16 13:13

Well that's a hell of an about face. It better come with Android auto too...

blueverik 2025-11-16 19:06

That's literally all I care about.

UltraLisp 2025-11-17 16:06

One of the biggest drawbacks of the Tesla system

Ambitious5uppository 2025-11-17 16:34

At least you Americans have it read your messsges. Nobody else uses SMS anymore, and it doesn't work at all with WhatsApp etc.

jbaker1225 2025-11-17 20:06

Another (probably more niche one) is private podcast RSS feeds. For whatever reason, private RSS feeds do not show up in the Apple Podcasts app in Tesla (not sure if this is a Tesla or Apple thing), so I have to use Spotify to access private RSS feeds in my Tesla, even though I don't subscribe to Spotify, so my progress isn't synced with the Apple Podcasts or Overcast app on my phone.

CarltonCracker 2025-11-18 02:06

Yep - just like that rumor they were going to add Atmos/Spatial Audio a few years ago with the Apple Music update. Very much doubt.

retroredditrobot 2025-11-18 23:27

This would just straight up be huge. Add in Dolby Atmos support for Apple Music and it’s literal perfection. I can’t wait to actually be able to use messaging in the car properly without the dog water Tesla speech to text too

Zealousideal_Aside96 2025-11-20 03:30

All of the processing happens on be phone. It’s just showing a video stream from the phone

Zealousideal_Aside96 2025-11-20 03:34

Obviously you would be able to not use it. Do you think an iPhone is required to find a Tesla?

mcleder 2025-11-22 02:02

Can't you get Waze via the browser?

ilikecrispywaffles 2025-11-22 04:02

🤔

alphatangolima 2025-11-23 15:32

Just let the pixel watch unlock the car for God's sake

mcleder 2025-11-24 15:07

There is an Apple Music app in the Tesla Infomat system.

AWildDragon 2025-11-24 17:06

There is. I use it. It’s limited to 64 Kbps because Tesla doesn’t want to pay for more bandwidth.

WhenGinMaySteer 2025-11-26 09:32

I doubt Apple would agree to this

Swastik496 2025-11-27 14:54

$100 a year for unlimited data that can be used for 4k streaming even(superchargers, road trips in the back on cars with two screens etc) is not that huge of a money maker.

Serialtoon 2025-11-28 20:26

Android is always behind with Tesla. It sucks having both platforms and seeing them always first on apple instead of my phone of choice 😭

IT_Bluffer 2026-02-04 20:55

When are we likely to see this? how much 'testing' is really needed?

SpicyElixer 2026-02-17 20:53

Because Tesla buys data in bulk by the mb. And they want to limit data use because they’re cheap af.

SpicyElixer 2026-02-17 20:59

Apple. They are very public about it.
