Supercharger sings now visible on the Highway amenities signs! 🎉

jkudlacz | 2025-09-25 02:28 | 1779 views

This is the First Supercharger sign, with more coming soon. Since everyone driving an EV is using those, I think it is great for quick stop, grab food, recharge and get back on the road!

But why. Our GPS knows it

MinnyBadger 2025-09-25 02:51

Not sure how much actual benefit it provides tesla drivers since it would map it anyway on longer trips and on shorter trips, if youre going to charge, its beneficial to put one in ahead of time to precondition but still cool to see i guess. I suppose it could help other ev drivers now that the network is open.

spootypuff 2025-09-25 02:53

Not every ev that’s superchargeable has it.

NetNomadx 2025-09-25 03:01

It’s a form of advertising for people with ICE vehicles. The more the see “EV fuel” signs the more it combats the range anxiety narrative.

TopperDuckHarley 2025-09-25 03:05

Funny that even something as little as this and people have to turn their nose up. Can’t just say, “hey neat!”

leftieaz 2025-09-25 03:06

TIL about Fry’s Food Store. I had so many interesting evenings wondering Fry’s Electronics Store.

CAVU1331 2025-09-25 03:11

You’d be surprised how many Tesla owners don’t use the maps, or know how to search for charging.

WeylandsWings 2025-09-25 03:12

This is 1000% about 3rd party EVs.

Queasy-Bed545 2025-09-25 03:12

Because now you don’t have to ask the car or phone. This way you can see that this exit has the services you want or need while driving down the highway.

occhis 2025-09-25 03:12

The Supercharger sings? Does it also dance?

StewieGriffin26 2025-09-25 03:20

Nice, I haven't seen one as a separate section yet but Ohio is at least putting a banner on existing locations that add chargers. https://maps.app.goo.gl/oZ5cPN96z4d7mZR37?g_st=ac

gweilojoe 2025-09-25 03:20

La la la la la!!!

"Hey neat" doesn't make for very interesting discussion in the comments 😂

Silly_Sense_8968 2025-09-25 03:53

Wait til you hear about Fry’s Seasoning. It’s gonna blow your mind

SeaUrchinSalad 2025-09-25 03:59

Suuuuuuperrr chhaaargerrrr! : 🎶 time to wait in line 🎶

sherlocknoir 2025-09-25 04:04

This is pretty cool. Also functional for non-Tesla EVs now that all of them can access the Supercharger except BMW & Toyota.

sniperdude24 2025-09-25 05:14

That’s how you end up driving into a lake!

shocontinental 2025-09-25 05:18

Supercharger wanted to be a song and dance man but their parents wanted him to be a doctor. . .

CharacterDesign6137 2025-09-25 05:20

maybe if you’re just driving along, and see the sign you might wanna top off your tesla, no need for gps

MinnyBadger 2025-09-25 05:20

Unfortunately. I honestly wouldn't mind if their charge port placement was in the same spot - it would further drive expansion of the network, but the majority of the time they end up taking multiple spots. Hate it when a charge location shows multiple available only to roll up and see none are actually accessible. Wish they could have forced adoption of a standardized port location before opening it up.

dezertdawg 2025-09-25 05:21

The guy who started Fry’s Electronics is the son of the guy who started Fry’s Groceries. Same family.

shumpitostick 2025-09-25 05:23

For the same reason they have gas stations on this sign. Some people still use signs to navigate.

thegreatpotatogod 2025-09-25 05:44

Once they're widespread that'll definitely help! Funny to imagine someone arguing that narrative now though, with exactly one sign that doesn't seem like a bountiful supply of chargers yet! 😂

AdelesManHands 2025-09-25 05:47

Dance, monkey. Dance.

BarrySantos 2025-09-25 07:02

Hallelujah, hallelujah, halleeeeee-luuu-yaa

Snakend 2025-09-25 07:46

I guess for the people who don't have a Tesla and don't have their phone with them to find a charger/

HenryLoenwind 2025-09-25 08:53

Yeah, that's a real issue. I've heard "there are no chargers around" so many times, and every time, there are thrice as many charging locations as fuel stations in the area once you look at a charging map.

HenryLoenwind 2025-09-25 08:59

So, QT is selling diesel, Shell is selling diesel and E85, Fry's is selling fuel (for camping stoves, I'll assume), and Tesla is selling mills? Do they also have replacement grindstones? But joke aside, how did you take that photo? It looks like you stopped on the freeway and got out of the car...which would be quite dangerous. Please don't endanger yourself and others for a photo.

ObeseSnake 2025-09-25 09:26

Didn't know that. The logo letter style looks similar to Fry's Electronics.

Salty_Leather42 2025-09-25 10:39

That’s great ! Looking forward to them being dense enough that we don’t need to route based on charger location .

jkudlacz 2025-09-25 10:41

I think this can still help to train the mind on favorite routes. Also Tesla navigation only shows Superchargers that Tesla tells you about during route planning. Sure you can exit route planning and find one near buy last minute too. That and great way to advertise!

jkudlacz 2025-09-25 10:42

We are so entitled! And we don’t want others to use our chargers LOL!

jkudlacz 2025-09-25 10:43

It just might! V4s do when they fall off, snake flop is the popular one.

decke003 2025-09-25 10:47

These are paid sign for business along the interstate. A private company works with state DOTs to get these put out and maintained. Tesla could have paid to put these up whenever they wanted. https://www.interstatelogos.com/

Aggressive-Land-8884 2025-09-25 10:48

It strips for you while you charge

jkudlacz 2025-09-25 11:18

Well it makes more sense to do it now! It is a form of advertising and informing people about EV charging infrastructure. We all know about it, others are clueless.

itsnorm 2025-09-25 11:48

Until now, though, I have never seen a category other than gas, food, lodging, or attractions. There are even strict guidelines about the order those categories need to show up as you approach the exit. Presumably, Tesla would have had to put their sign under the "gas" category, which is... weird. (And now that I think about it, diesel isn't considered "gas" either so that's in the wrong category too. Why don't they just change the category to "fuel"?)

occhis 2025-09-25 11:57

It’s an X (AI) Supercharger

DrAnkerman 2025-09-25 12:31

Wow superchargers sing now? What else can they do besides that?

RayDaMan7 2025-09-25 13:59

I mean the car also tells you, but i guess this is for the others.

Lionsmania 2025-09-25 15:50

Very cool, but doesn't this seem incredibly late? Should have been doing this with every new supercharger within ~5 miles of a highway. I need a tracker of how many of these exist. How many signs will it take to lead to a material increase in usage and/or sales? Not to mention, this is kind of an antithesis to going all-in on autonomy, ain't it?

IntelliDev 2025-09-25 16:30

Gas Station = Fueling Station w/ bathroom where you can pass gas

ohwowlaulau 2025-09-25 16:36

What does it sing?

jkudlacz 2025-09-25 17:21

My favorite song!

mcleder 2025-09-26 00:17

The dude meant to spell sines. Or was it cosines?

ChuqTas 2025-09-26 01:15

I think you're going off on a tangent.

scottiedd 2025-09-26 11:28

Good to see but it is paid for by the companies. So always been an option. Nice to see Tesla paying for it. Important change that is needed to let possible converts know where public charging is.

jkudlacz 2025-09-26 12:05

Better late than never, maybe Tesla figured there is enough profit in Non Tesla EVs so they are investing into Supercharger Advertising! Honestly amount of misconception and lack of education about EV charging is still mind boggling to me.

mcleder 2025-09-26 14:44

Don't go hyperbolic on me... please.

biffa773 2025-09-26 17:16

What are the 50, there are only 49 continental states or are you counting Canada there, just to say, bit contraversial if you are!

Omerta08266 2025-09-27 08:53

Nice all 5 of them!

CG_throwback 2025-09-27 12:22

Good thing there are signs. Not sure how we would find this driving so fast on the freeway. 🤯

jkudlacz 2025-09-27 12:40

Not sure what you mean, 5 signs or 5 Superchargers?

Main_Muffin9062 2025-09-27 15:11

QT? Where’s GTK?

Tom_Spratt_1986 2025-09-27 16:07

Or just look at your screen.

jkudlacz 2025-09-27 16:13

I have a feeling this is more for those that don’t drive an EV! When you drive you see McDonalds signs everywhere. You just know next exit there will be McDonalds. If you see Supercharger signs everywhere you will realize ‘oh crap, if I had an EV I could stop at all those places to recharge’

Resident_Growth 2025-09-27 19:02

Non Teslas can use it too

elchurnerista 2025-09-27 19:21

This is for the haters ... we already know where they are 😂

[deleted] 2025-09-28 07:44

Is there also a Fry's Fries?

[deleted] 2025-09-28 07:47

Do you own a Tesla?

J-Crosby 2025-09-28 12:52

That’s note 🎵 worthy!

Ambitious5uppository 2025-09-28 14:39

Surely it's not only Tesla chargers that appear on the signs? Just happens to be this particular charging stop is tesla branded? Over here in Spain the EV charging signs have been around for ages on the motorways. It looks like the normal petrol sign, but if there is EV charging too it has an EV inside the pump. But the signs are for all EV chargers, and don't say which brand. Which can be useful as a Tesla driver, since the Tesla map is utterly terrible for any non-tesla chargers. And most networks are as good (certainly on the motorways) and many are better. Regularly I think 'ah I won't bother going to the auto-routed one 5 mins away which it says has a 15 mins wait, there's better one with no waiting right here. Thanks sign!'

spinwizard69 2025-09-28 16:44

it is about time!!!!! like it or not the lack of this on highway signage is why so many dismiss EV’s. if you want to transition to new technology you have to make old users aware that your new tech is an easy transition.

jkudlacz 2025-09-28 17:31

Exactly, this is not for hose commenting here, it’s for those that have no idea you can charge an EV at 10000s of Superchargers!

spinwizard69 2025-09-28 17:40

I’m not sure why Elon doesn’t get this and push hard. Yeah I know a Tesla can call up maps with next dozen closest EV chargers but this means nothing to a non owner. These placards are simply a way to awareness For the masses. It is no different than early smart phone advertising you need to show people that the transition is easy.

jkudlacz 2025-09-28 19:15

I think Tesla will push this and introduce a cheap EV for $35k without Tax Credit in Q4! Need more EV options that are affordable! Biggest issue is most folks are clueless!

-XboxZero- 2025-09-29 10:01

I’ve seen it do the hokey pokey this one time a while back.

jkudlacz 2025-10-03 20:51

We are singing in Georgia now!

CharacterDesign6137 2025-10-03 21:27

I do, a 2018 model 3 long range, if I saw there was a few chargers while i wasn’t using gps, I bet id stop

TheMindsEIyIe 2025-10-06 04:47

I guess they could have just changed the category to "Energy"

Kenny780 2025-10-08 04:06

Lol

Howry 2025-10-09 18:40

Pointless IMO since the car tells you exactly where they are.

jkudlacz 2025-10-09 18:41

It’s advertising and EV awareness for those that drive an ICE - so 90% of drivers out there!
