Tesla's stock reminds me of Entertainment 720. But like if Jean-Ralphio Saperstein and Tom Haverford were actually convincing to investors.

Chawnci7 2025-09-15 16:36

Still waiting for GME to hit it 🤦🏻‍♂️😭

reaction to Musk buying a huge chunk of tesla stock at the end of the quarter... gee what a surprise.

Electrical_Quality_6 2025-09-15 16:42

Rschmidt79 2025-09-15 16:42

Don’t make any sense, sales going down, competition is rising, and Elon are making a fool out of himself. And still it’s going up. The bubble is going too blow soon! I love my Tesla, but I don’t understand the Tesla stock.

sparkyblaster 2025-09-15 16:56

Ok, this price is insane. Actually insane.

TheBendit 2025-09-15 16:59

It's very simple: Tesla stock goes up on bad news and down on good news.

sparkyblaster 2025-09-15 17:00

I swear everytime bad news comes out, price goes up, good news, price goes down.  Battery day, great news, but, I guess long term and not instant. So investors got blue balls and sell.

ChunkyThePotato 2025-09-15 17:00

This guy still doesn't realize they solved FSD 😂🫵 End-to-end was the breakthrough they needed, and it's now inevitable. The market has realized this, but you haven't. That's why you don't understand.

im4real71 2025-09-15 17:01

Nobody knows 🤣

sevargmas 2025-09-15 17:05

What do you mean ‘got em’? Tesla stock has been going up forever. Go back and look at the one month, six month, one year, ytd, or anything other standard interval. It just goes up and up and up. Other than the wild Jan/Feb craziness this year when a lot of the market was turbulent, it just goes up and up and up.

ObeseSnake 2025-09-15 17:05

Elon bought a ton of stock recently and investors like that confidence.

Phreak-O-Phobia 2025-09-15 17:39

Competition rising LOL. Fisker is going out of business, and Lucid has been taking a hit because of their price point. No other car maker out there can match what Tesla has been doing. FSD has killed all competition. They've lowered their price point and made the cars more accessible to the consumer. A hybrid Camiry is $50K and a Model 3 is $35K, which one are you going for?

[deleted] 2025-09-15 17:49

Elon farts and it's on CNN, stock goes down. So dumb+ tesla is so much more than just cars.

Swampassed 2025-09-15 17:50

Sales are going down? Apparently you aren’t considering the increased amount they’ve sold in the last two months because of the tax break ending.

Snakend 2025-09-15 17:54

Tesla's revenue is starting to shift. For a while it was the cars. But now the revenue is coming from energy. The Mega packs for daily storage. If the robotaxis can be expanded quickly, that will be a massive revenue stream and way to reduce Tesla inventory. If the Optimus ever goes on sale, its going to be massive.

Europe isn't the whole world. I own two Teslas and I'm not ashamed at all owning a car made by American workers.

DammatBeevis666 2025-09-15 19:41

Is it really a ton in comparison to his current holdings?

Rschmidt79 2025-09-15 19:42

I’m from Europe, sales are really low, people hate Elon and are ashamed by owning a Tesla. FSD is not a thing here, its terrible and the normal AP and EAP are a joke compared to other brands. Still I love my Tesla, but getting tired of defending the brand. There is a lot of competition, VW, Audi, Skoda and cupra is doing well in Europe, same with Mercedes and BMW, they are all over, yes it’s not 0-100 records, but people don’t care about horsepower here, and Tesla aren’t cheap compared to other brands here.

DammatBeevis666 2025-09-15 19:42

They still don’t have a level 3 car that works tho

Rschmidt79 2025-09-15 19:47

America isn’t the whole world either :)

[deleted] 2025-09-15 19:57

Hopes and dreams. Investors hope for more $$$$.. Elon detractors hope for TLSA to lose money and take Elon with him. There are even others that hope/dream that TLSA can make FSD work, making it safer for everyone on the road (one of the leading causes of injury in the USA); and there are others that hope that TSLA can make humanoid robots that help mankind. TSLA is at this point is more than just cars. Not to mention, a lot of people in general want Elon to succeed because they hope by TSLA succeeding that would bode well for his other companies - like neuralink (trying to help handicap people walk) and spaceX (sustainable life on their planets).

Swampassed 2025-09-15 19:58

You are correct, but America does 50% of Teslas business which is more than just cars. China does over 20% And the twenty two countries combined that Tesla does business with does the other 30%. Which include Parts of Europe, Canada, Mexica, Australia etc.

Caeden27 2025-09-15 20:21

~0.26% holdings increase iirc. Not apart of any stock rewards this was a pure purchase

PoopsMcCrack 2025-09-15 20:27

meepstone 2025-09-15 20:32

Sales are up, Tesla is selling out omfrom people getting the tax credit before it expires. Might affect Q4 sales but Q3 sales will probably be good

Hem82 2025-09-15 20:38

It's TSLA, baby! I'm shocked that some people on Reddit like it.

Snakend 2025-09-15 20:39

Level 3 Full Self-Driving (FSD) is a system where the car handles most driving tasks in specific conditions, but requires the human driver to be ready to retake control when prompted by the system. Sure sounds like FSD (supervised). They have level 4 ready in Austin.

Snakend 2025-09-15 20:41

If optimus can fold laundry, pull weeds, sweep, do general cleaning tasks, it will be worth thousands of dollars. If it can lift boxes and move large/heavy objects, it will be worth tens of thousands.

stanley_fatmax 2025-09-15 20:59

We paid $160k at work for a robot dog and payload for it just because it could replace 1/10th of a person year If Optimus can lift and move heavy objects, businesses would pay hundreds of thousands if not millions. Even unskilled laborers are expensive when taxes, insurance, salary are taken into account

Da1BlackDude 2025-09-15 21:12

People are forgetting what Elon did. Also, a lot of people who own one want to buy one again because they are great cars.

RAWcone 2025-09-15 21:13

Funding secured

Snakend 2025-09-15 21:47

yeah. I think it's going to be expensive at first, maybe like $100k. And then drop in price over the years to where it can be bought for households. It's going to be a huge market once it starts. I highly dislike Elon Musk, but I think he is spot on with his predictions of the robotaxi and the optimus valuations. They are going to be worth multiples of the car sales.

wasthespyingendless 2025-09-15 21:58

The one issue with this is that none of the Optimus tech is exclusive to Tesla. There are a lot of people from Google, to small start-ups, US and China, that all are trying to put the pieces together to make a useful robot. It probably will happen within 10 years but there are smart people working for the competition who are already doing more interesting things. There will be a lot of competition, choice, and Tesla won't have a large profit margin. It will just be another low volume, low margin, competition.

twinbee 2025-09-15 22:25

It's like it with current POTUS too. Reddit people were in shock when he won in 2016 AND again in 2024 too. They think the average person thinks like the reddit hivemind.

Livesai 2025-09-15 22:25

Wait until people complain that he shouldn't cash out the trillion.....

Capta1n_0bvious 2025-09-15 22:25

You are saying the exact same thing everyone said during the rise of EVs. Tesla did it the hard way and now they are the only non-Chinese company turning a profit. They are doing the same game-plan on FSD, and Optimus. When the dust settles, everyone else will have a low margin, low volume, inferior product and Tesla will dominate for decades. In the spirit of competition, I would love to be dead wrong. From continuous disappointment in innovation from other companies…I continue to purchase Tesla stock. 🤷🏼‍♂️

twinbee 2025-09-15 22:44

Yeah he's basically doing what benefits the world the most, and what people would willingly hand over money for. That vision carries across to his philosophies too imo, but he thinks long term, not short term, which can make his actions and words look odd for those not in the know.

twinbee 2025-09-15 22:48

The 10x growth in a number of years will be what's insane. This price is chicken feed in comparison.

DammatBeevis666 2025-09-15 23:29

Sounds like it, but FSD is level 2. With FSD, you have to have someone watching at all times. With level 3, you could fiddle around in the glove box and it wouldn’t matter. So, despite what Elon is saying, we aren’t anywhere close to fully automated teslas. Don’t get me wrong, I love my Tesla and hope that some day it can do what I paid for it to do seven years ago “soon, your car will drive you to work without any intervention!”

DammatBeevis666 2025-09-15 23:30

So, like a rounding error in his portfolio. He’s a master manipulator of the stock market, almost as good as Mr. Trump!

cyber4me 2025-09-15 23:43

I’m a damn fool, a little over a year ago I sold approximately 75k of Tesla stock to pay for my Truck.

Snakend 2025-09-15 23:47

"..but requires the human driver to be ready to retake control when prompted by the system." You are simply wrong. I can fiddle with my glove box, it will give me about 30 seconds before I get put in FSD timeout. You are thinking of level 4 and level 5. Those are the levels where supervision is no longer required.

DammatBeevis666 2025-09-16 00:05

No, you are confidently wrong. But please, do a google search and post your source where FSD is noted to be level 3.

Snakend 2025-09-16 00:09

I literally just quoted it. You can google yourself.

DammatBeevis666 2025-09-16 00:35

I mean, I forgive your confusion; FSD was named to confuse you into thinking it was level 3 or 4. They were forced to change it to FSD (supervised) because the name was too misleading.

DammatBeevis666 2025-09-16 00:39

Jeebus you are making this painful. https://interestingengineering.com/innovation/mercedes-level-3-autonomous-driving-car-us https://www.thestreet.com/technology/whats-stopping-tesla-from-achieving-level-3-self-driving https://insideevs.com/news/742295/tesla-autopilot-abilities-fsd/ Now that I’ve proven you wrong, you can down vote me _again_, but you’ll still be confidently incorrect.

MrWheels44 2025-09-16 00:41

Here for it

Desperate-Review-727 2025-09-16 00:47

Sales are currently going up with the EV incentives soon ending. Also pretty sure that Elon isn't really making a fool of himself as much as he was several months ago.

RockSolid3894 2025-09-16 01:06

Anyone else short TSLA?

Salt-Cause8245 2025-09-16 01:16

Model S Plaid and X Plaid are still ridiculous value even after price hikes. Where is the competition?

gltovar 2025-09-16 01:40

I mean robotaxi is a make or break moment. I get why people dunk on tesla and elon, I used to be an elon supporter. But taking a step back and removing emotional response to the brand, if FSD tech is shown to be successful they will have a product that is not easy for other entities to recreate. They have indicated that they are willing to license out the tech, and few other car manufacturers have comparable tech that works outside of a geofence, hdmapping, or with the least expensive sensor suite. If successful, both at execution and getting it licensed out, it is simply another pillar of support for the company if making/selling cars dries up. Adding to that if the tech is further extrapolated successfully to optimus, just safe industry from competition. They have a lock on the north american EV charging infrastructure, stored power infrastructure that can pay itself on the utility scale and tests building a ‘virtual‘ power plant using consumer energy storage, battery production capability, and factories strategically placed around the world to shield against some tariff shenanigans. To add if they are able to update the process of lithium mining to be less water intensive as they are researching, they are set to become a very stable business for decades. It is not unlike over a decade ago people were criticizing Amazon about not ‘making money‘ from their store front, not fully understanding that they were pumping a lot of research into web development and essentially running the lions share of the western internet backbone. But a LOT is hinging on the success of their machine learning/AI models being able to function. And if anyone want to point to it being impossible with out LIDAR, beyond my personal positive experience with HW3, this massive chinese crash test with recreating tough real world scenarios really paints a picture how much more important software is than LIDAR: [https://carnewschina.com/2025/07/24/chinas-massive-adas-test-36-cars-15-hazard-scenarios-216-crashes/](https://carnewschina.com/2025/07/24/chinas-massive-adas-test-36-cars-15-hazard-scenarios-216-crashes/)

Snakend 2025-09-16 01:53

You're going off old data. 1 of those articles is from 2 years ago, the other two are from a year ago. Tesla FSD V12 is level 3. It fully meets SAE criteria for level 3.

Hockey_Tendy 2025-09-16 02:08

You just explained the wage gap.

fliphopanonymous 2025-09-16 02:34

Hyundai? They own BD and their EVs are selling better and better. Sure they're not as dominant as Tesla is in the US market, but they're picking up a lot of the market that's shirking Tesla.

[deleted] 2025-09-16 02:44

Seriously? Beyond its automotive manufacturing business, Tesla's valuation is largely based on its potential in energy, artificial intelligence (AI), and robotics. Investors often treat Tesla not just as a car company but as a high-growth tech company, with its valuation reflecting the high-risk, high-reward nature of its future ventures. Energy business While the automotive sector dominates Tesla's public image, the energy business has become a significant and increasingly profitable contributor to the company's value. Energy storage: Tesla's Megapack (for grid-scale storage) and Powerwall (for residential use) are major drivers of growth. In 2024, the company deployed 31.4 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of battery energy storage, more than doubling its 2023 output. The division's profitability surged in 2024, contributing 23% of Tesla's total profit in the first half of 2025. Solar: The company offers solar panels and its integrated Solar Roof. However, growth in this sector has been slower and impacted by market shifts and changes to Tesla's sales model. Autonomous driving and software Tesla's valuation heavily depends on the future profitability of its AI and Full Self-Driving (FSD) software. FSD software: Analyst estimates for Tesla's software and services business vary widely. In 2021, a Morgan Stanley analyst valued it at roughly $250 billion. Some analysts now believe the company's AI ambitions could unlock over $1 trillion in value. Robotaxi network: A commercial robotaxi service has launched in Austin, with aggressive expansion planned in cities like the Bay Area. Analysts' forecasts for this venture are a source of considerable debate. Ark Invest, a prominent Tesla bull, projects a global robotaxi market worth billions by 2029 and suggests it could be a major value driver. Morningstar holds a more conservative outlook, forecasting a full commercial launch for 2028 and viewing the stock as significantly overvalued when priced for near-perfection on this front. Wedbush Securities is more bullish, predicting Tesla's robotaxi network could reach 30 to 35 U.S. cities within the next year and contribute to a significant boost in value.

ADVENTUREINC 2025-09-16 19:51

Early TSLA (small stake) and sold recently to take profit. To buy it now, think you'd have to be committed too the view that FSD can bridge that last 10% gap and don't make any more edge case mistakes, does private property -- think subdivisions, driveways, malls or parking garages -- well, and does bad weather well. Waymo is in the same boat more or less but have a more expensive bom. If TSLA can get there, then they'd have a great competitive advantage. Hard to tell at this juncture though.
