Are those the “V3” chargers that are actually supposed to put out 250kw? I swear I only ever get the V2 super charges and it maxes at 150kw
Probably because of the base, usaf pilots like teslas, I have one lol, they installed some of these in del rio, TX recently which also has no business having chargers until you realize theres a base there too
Depending on the vehicle you have 150kw may be the maximum your vehicle can take, im pretty sure the base model 3 maxes out at 170kw. Pictured is a v4 supercharger which charges sedans and SUVs up to 250kw (again IF the battery can accept it) and the cybertruck at 325kw

Also as with any quick charging you will only experience the fastest charging rate when the battery is at its lowest, past 40% the charge rate starts to slow.

The battery is divided into cells. As an example lets say 100 cells, when driving you car discharges 5 cells at a time to power the motor, once 5 are fully discharged it moves on to the next 5, and so on. The supercharger is capable of charging 50 cells at once, so once there are less than 50 empty cells remaining the charge rate gets slower and slower (it can’t just charge the remaining cells faster, they would overheat/explode). Thats kind of the principle of supercharging.

This is not the case, if it discharged the cells one at a time the car would have horrific problems with imbalanced battery wear and heat generation, let alone the challenge of getting an individual cell to operate at the voltage necessary for the motors to run. Imagine it more like a balloon, and as the balloon gets more full, it becomes more difficult to inflate. The difference is that reason the batter is more difficult to fill is that too high of a current will degrade the battery pack and have higher risk of fire

But your example is a fundamentally incorrect description of how batteries work, the cells work in unison

finally! my state getting some love! seeing these chargers in really rural cities lets me know that we are really making huge steps towards widespread adoption. if you can go to the middle of north dakota where there is nothing to do for hours around then you can go just about anywhere in the US without feeling any sort of range anxiety. which is a massive hurdle for people to get over.
