This sub isn’t gonna like this one bit…. 🍿

Omacrontron 2025-07-27 12:56

Why not? I just listened to it lol

polkadanceparty 2025-07-27 14:20

He’s a very interesting guy but the things he does are interesting not necessarily the things he says. He says lots of nonsense that he doesn’t even believe. IMHO better to just watch the actions of his companies and disregard what he says

fizzerd1 2025-07-27 18:06

Its quite sad. This guy built Tesla up when people hardly believed him, made it a market leader, set benchmarks and its sad that now he is getting into unnecessary things rather than taking this company even further..

The distractions and unclear vehicle roadmap is giving the competition lost of leeway to erode market share. Take a look at what Kia/Hyundai and even *gasp*, what GM are doing with their lineups. Sure it took them a while to spool up they have solid offerings and Tesla is going to have... a decontented Model Y?

rainer_d 2025-07-27 21:29

I guess it's not easy to shrink 3 and Y even further (down from S and X) without the cars looking...off and the physics not quite matching up. 3 and Y are in an almost magic utility-range-size-effciency-price pentagram.

ChunkyThePotato 2025-07-27 21:59

Huh? He is taking it further, but people don't believe him, as usual.

ChunkyThePotato 2025-07-27 22:01

Huh? Hyundai/Kia and GM are doing terribly in the EV business compared to Tesla. Even selling their cars at huge losses, they can't sell nearly as many as Tesla. Seriously, what are you even talking about?

ChunkyThePotato 2025-07-27 22:02

Because Elon said a lot of bad things about one of the tribes, and Reddit is one of the most tribal places there is.

Xaxxon 2025-07-28 04:35

I just cringe whenever I see an elon interview these days.

Ok_Transition7785 2025-07-28 09:19

What are you talking about? The interesting things are the things he talks about. Space X super heavy, Mars, driverless taxi, robots, AI, Neuralink. These are the future and the driver of massive valuation, not some dorky electric car. The dorky car is fine as things go, but its just a commodity.

It's not scale I'm referring to. It's variety. Tesla for all intents and purposes is floating the entire company on 2 cars. That's not enough IMO

greyscales 2025-07-28 11:09

They are talking about the lineup.

greyscales 2025-07-28 11:22

I mean, it's already clearly showing outside of the US. Other companies are selling cars that Tesla can't compete with (minivans, small sedans, hatchbacks,...)

fooknprawn 2025-07-28 11:34

Exactly. I was always hoping Tesla would expand their product offerings to cover those but they steadfastly refuse to. I'm not asking for them to be like BMW and having 10 models in each category but a few more offerings would be nice. Doing that would keep their market share a bit higher but since there are more choices now naturally their share is going to erode. I'm seeing TONS of Equinox EVs now whereas it was all Model 3/Y before and I'm attributing it to Teslas pricing, at least in Canada where their pricing policy is USD plus 40% exchange. Most other car makers are USD plus 10-25%

ChunkyThePotato 2025-08-01 04:08

Clearly their lineup is way worse than Tesla's.
