Tesla might not sell their cars in california if they loose !

Adventurous-Roll3049 | 2025-07-22 19:20 | 21 views

if this is reliable , tesla is heading into a critical regulatory hearing next week in California that could significantly impact its operations in the state, they are being accused of misleading marketing regarding its Autopilot and Full Self-Driving (FSD) systems. if the DMV wins , it means the suspension or revocation of Tesla’s dealer license.

California loves making it difficult for business.

hi_internet_friend 2025-07-22 21:22

They'll just sell on CA native american reservations if they lose. Not convenient, but not a complete pulling out of the state either.

keepitcleanforwork 2025-07-22 21:24

\*lose

NetJnkie 2025-07-22 21:24

They are also the best state for consumer laws. I don't care if you love or hate Tesla, but the naming and descriptions given for FSD have been a lie for a long time. We can argue about how good FSD is, but is it Full Self Driving if it turns off in the rain? Etc.

Voidfang_Investments 2025-07-22 21:25

There needs to be a balance.

yeah__good_okay 2025-07-22 21:26

The balance is that Tesla should stop lying about their products.

NetJnkie 2025-07-22 21:28

That's easy. Change the naming and stop Musk telling people it's almost faultless until they can actually support the claims. This is a Tesla problem. Not a CA problem. We'll see more cases like we did recently where Tesla lost in mediation. When I bought my first Tesla, FSD was listed in my available options as "Coming later this year". That was like 4 years ago.

Themysteryman124 2025-07-22 21:29

They will just make people go to a neighboring state to pick up their car. It happens in other states already.

ForGreatDoge 2025-07-22 21:30

Difficult for deceptive or harmful business practices? That's a good thing.

Voidfang_Investments 2025-07-22 21:31

It’s not a big deal. And FSD is really damn good now.

NetJnkie 2025-07-22 21:38

Yes. It IS a big deal. It's lying. If it's not a big deal then Tesla should change the name and marketing.

floydhwung 2025-07-22 21:55

So are we getting a refund or something?

mchinsky 2025-07-22 22:07

It turns off when it's raining hard enough for many humans to pull over under and underpass.

mchinsky 2025-07-22 22:08

Then put every restaurant out of business who shows photos that look NOTHING like the product you end up getting. The same with cereal boxes etc. I'd say 50% of the things sold in California could be pulled for 'false adverstising' if we are going to get picky. Every 'natural' ED druge, all the people advertising Cannibas as the cure all for everything etc.

NetJnkie 2025-07-22 22:08

Turns off for far less rain than that.

mchinsky 2025-07-22 22:09

I guarantee you if Musk never came out of the closet as a Conservative and helped Trump win, this would NOT be happening

NetJnkie 2025-07-22 22:11

Yes. They should go after all those too. But at least a smashed hamburger is still a hamburger. And not a lie like FSD has become in some cases.

NetJnkie 2025-07-22 22:12

They just lost their first mediation for lying about FSD. My bet is that it's going to snowball and they'll be scrambling soon. Helping Trump or not.

Adventurous-Roll3049 2025-07-22 22:23

thank you

Adventurous-Roll3049 2025-07-22 22:24

or maybe online ?

Adventurous-Roll3049 2025-07-22 22:24

yeah , people will buy anyways

Adventurous-Roll3049 2025-07-22 22:25

i think its about delivering whats promised , every state should follow

Adventurous-Roll3049 2025-07-22 22:25

ah , politics ...

Themysteryman124 2025-07-22 22:31

Well they still order online, but they will take delivery from another state. For example, Wisconsin doesn’t allow direct to consumer so people to go Illinois to pick up their car.

yeah__good_okay 2025-07-22 22:31

It is good. But it’s absolutely not what Tesla has been advertising.

philupandgo 2025-07-22 22:58

If by "came out of the closet" you mean he was dragged down an alley and beaten up by a union thug and so switched his allegiance, then yes he came out of the closet. Now that he is taking heat from the other side again he is switching again.

mchinsky 2025-07-23 01:24

I don't see where he's switching to Democrats. If you think Republican's spend...Democrats will tell you to hold their iced mocha latte

mchinsky 2025-07-23 01:33

Let me know when you smashburger looks like this photo [Best Burger Restaurants Near Me | Smashburger Official Site](https://smashburger.com/)

einsteinway 2025-07-23 02:51

Found the Karen

philupandgo 2025-07-23 03:04

Yeah. Switching to party number 3. We'll see how that works out. He does what's best for his company, but in a painful way.

paul-sladen 2025-07-23 11:09

And to rub it in; after the (digital) purchase paperwork is completed, the cars will drive themselves over the border … using FSD.

moronmonday526 2025-07-23 14:02

They also sell on Native American reservations in New Mexico and Connecticut. People don't realize that "Indian" casinos are often under a different government rule. Morongo has plenty of space for a store.

mchinsky 2025-07-23 14:25

On AI4, I'm amazed how heavy it can rain before it will turn off. It will reduce the maximum speed in heavy rains, but to turn off it has to be torrential. We had flooding 2 weeks ago that caused 2 deaths and it only cut out once at the time where you saw cars with blinkers pulled off to the side under overpasses. Major highways here in NJ looked like lakes and stalled (ICE) cars where everywhere.

123DCP 2025-07-23 22:02

Or, Tesla could just stop marketing FSD deceptively. Any system that requires a human driver to monitor it at all times, is not driving. It.ay be steering and controlling speed. But the person with ultimate responsibility for safe operation of the vehicle is the only "driver" of the car.

an_alex_at_a_time 2025-07-24 01:38

>Or, Tesla could just stop marketing FSD deceptively. Do you hear yourself? lol

marcosalbert 2025-07-24 07:52

And yet somehow, the state has more [Fortune 500 companies](https://www.visualcapitalist.com/map-the-number-of-fortune-500-companies-in-each-u-s-state/) than any other, and is the tech innovation capital of the world and it’s not even close.

cullenjwebb 2025-07-25 16:08

Lol no they won't. They delivered a single car this way with a whole entourage of supervision.

xbimmerhue 2025-07-30 00:56

Lol California is such a dump
