New Prismatic Cell

Euphoric_Upstairs_57 | 2025-07-17 18:37 | 91 views

Tesla officially hiring to develop a prismatic cell https://www.linkedin.com/jobs/view/4266826086 There's a model 3 that uses prismatic, but they get them from CATL, they don't make them in-house https://www.linkedin.com/jobs/view/4267013946 And they're specifically saying they're building a new cell manufacturing facility "from the ground up" Possibly a new type of cell for the roadster

Probably for the robovan or cab

LFP factory has been known already and near completion. Prismatic LFP cells are used in Megapack and Powerwall. LFP is not powerful enough for roadster and not energy dense enough for robotaxi

Excited to see what Tesla does with their own prismatic cells. 'From the ground up' suggests something innovative!

so can we finally say 4680 cells were a flop? I have much more respect if they come out and say it was a flop and they're gonna push to catch back up to the chinese.

The megapack 2 and 2xl both use the CATL prismatic cells

Sorry but Tesla had nothing innovative in the last few years. Good example is the highland and juniper. Slightly better as a car but nothing new or innovative. The model S/X facelift is basically an AliExpress mod. So I don’t expect any innovations maybe a little bit cheaper manufacturing.

Don’t apologize for not glazing a company. This subreddit could spend a little more time criticizing Tesla for their subpar build quality, lack of innovation, and failure to deliver on several promises and deadlines.

Maybe this is that new exciting announcement for the end of year? Elon said something about “just came from Design and have something exciting by end of year“ but does Design mean both design and engineering design? Or is Design at Tesla just Artsy Fartsy design?

Pretty sure the battery day from 2021 has a slide showing all cheaper vehicles using LFP, prismatic is implied, as you say. we stand unsurprised except tesla might do something they said they would do, which is rare.
