I visited there yesterday. The fence was all around it with a guard at each gate and some strange unknown super hero cartoon playing on the screens.

I like space x but where the heck are the movie-movies??? Who wants to want infomercials? Lol

LoogyHead 2025-07-15 00:35

Those screens are insanely tacky. They picked the least visually appealing angle to record the building. What a wreck.

Timberwolfgray 2025-07-15 00:36

The location feels...odd? Like yeah we made an advanced 7/11, good luck getting in or out tho.

Dino_Spaceman 2025-07-15 01:34

I would have painted it white and silver to match a 50's diner. This looks like a strip club.

Interesting_Ad_1888 2025-07-15 01:34

Gonna go against the beta males here and say it looks awesome

zenboi92 2025-07-15 02:16

What’s a beta male?

UW_Ebay 2025-07-15 02:52

Surprised it hasn’t been vandalized yet. (Hoping it doesn’t tho…)

Rollertoaster7 2025-07-15 03:28

I like the style, gives cyberpunk vibes

Fiveofthem 2025-07-15 03:30

The terms "alpha male" and "beta male" are often used in pop culture and online discussions, but they lack a strong scientific basis when applied to human behavior.

silian_rail_gun 2025-07-15 03:57

Wait, this is real? I thought it was AI slop when I saw a pic in some other sub the other day.

Tank_gamer10 2025-07-15 04:10

Hatin, looks cool.

Stonkz_N_Roll 2025-07-15 05:53

It does not look cool. This is what happens when a boardroom full of sycophants who have never been cool are left to make the decisions. No risk is taken. Everything is grey. There is no charm, fun, or form - only function. Edit: Adding to my comment instead of replying to a bunch of guys who unironically wear cargo shorts - what was built completely falls short of any kind of retro-futurism, and instead just looks like an industrial grade juicer. You could slap a Kitchenaid logo on that building and it would make more sense

Azzmo 2025-07-15 05:53

Huge disagree. This design language would be described as "retro-futurism" and represents what people in the 50s and 60s imagined the future would look like. Fallout 3 and 4 use this style. It's a highly optimistic design paradigm that was supplanted by post-modernist, legitimately dystopian trends such as Brutalism that were prevalent in East-European communist countries. *That* is dystopian. This is optimistic.

Any_Pudding14 2025-07-15 05:55

Nah, it looks cool

kabloooie 2025-07-15 06:31

So will it be a Shakeys Pizza inside?

Your Job at the Tesla Diner will be 100% replaced by a robot ASAP.

olafbond 2025-07-15 08:19

I already hate those screens with flashy ads.

Smartnership 2025-07-15 09:25

Which movies offer free license to play inside YouTube advertisement / promo videos?

ObeseSnake 2025-07-15 10:21

I think there are three exits, both on each corner and the Supercharger site in the back. It's LA, so if you've ever driven there this is pretty normal.

ObeseSnake 2025-07-15 10:23

Not sure if you were joking but this is on the former site of one and if you remember Shakeys used to play movies and old TV shows on a big screen inside.

cheerfulwish 2025-07-15 11:34

I like the look personally. Ooops, I forgot your opinion is more valid than everyone else’s so I’ll take it back now !!!

TheManInTheShack 2025-07-15 12:17

How’s the food?

Tank_gamer10 2025-07-15 12:49

Well I think it’s cool

RicMedio 2025-07-15 14:19

I see it differently, too. Tesla stands for clear, Bauhaus-style design. Not colorful and playful. Clear, simple structures. Uncluttered and unfussy. The covered seating areas with the roof are also very functional. It has to be designed so that the cinema screen can be seen from every seating position.

42Rocket 2025-07-15 19:08

I keep seeing post of this place looking open I drove by 2 days ago and it was still fenced off. I’m I in an alt reality?

fleshribbon 2025-07-15 22:41

I was gonna say this is definitely not Austin

DroneContentCreator 2025-07-15 22:55

It was open for a moment for a promotional event. Its not officially open yet.

kabloooie 2025-07-16 00:20

Yep. I used to go to that Shakeys after dance rehearsals at Plummer Park.

ThrowAwayRBJAccount2 2025-07-16 09:23

A very alpha way of describing the differences between the 2 types.

lilpoopysquirtz 2025-07-16 10:33

im skeptical

twinbee 2025-07-16 19:21

I feel some greenery on the first floor would go a long way.

twinbee 2025-07-16 19:23

But Brutalist architecture IS generally ugly. No sweeping curves, no thoughtful design, intricacy or elegance. How does it not fit?

QuieroTamales 2025-07-20 02:37

All this won't matter if Tesla doesn't start putting out some truly new vehicles and soon.

TallLikeMe 2025-11-21 05:26

Why not just build a better car?
