It's in the title, a fixer.

Tellittomy6pac 2025-06-27 02:11

This title is slightly misleading, considering other titles I have read so that he was fired. He was also the head of manufacturing and operations

Fire69 2025-06-27 10:42

I missed part of the title and got really excited for a moment...

Anyone have the text from the article? Not signing up for financial times

It’s just a lot of circular citation with little known about what actually happened, but it seems Omead Afshar is no longer with Tesla. He’s been in Musk’s orbit for many years (listed as a “fixer”) and has seemingly held roles at other Musk companies as well. It’s not totally clear what his most recent role was at Tesla with some saying head of US and European sales and manufacturing, but it’s not like he had a business card saying as such. Unless you know them personally, we’ll just let the speculation and “sources familiar with the matter” fill in the rest of the story with the truth falling somewhere in the middle.

Sometimes, even top execs get burned out. Especially when they are all deca-millionaires by now, maybe even more. Operating at a pace that the Tesla culture demands for decades is no easy feat, and some just want more of a work/life balance as they get older. Performance slips, etc. Gives room for some new and younger blood with fresh ideas. Pros/cons.

If he was fired due to the struggles to get the Semi and Roadster into production then great that's perfectly justified. If he was fired due to declining sales then Musk should really be looking in the mirror.

Tellittomy6pac 2025-06-27 13:34

I’m a little confused as to how that relates to my comment.

So he is the scapegoat for problems that are purely Musk’s fault? Tesla's sales are falling and its market share is plummeting while other electric cars are growing, and it's all because of Musk. - Tesla doesn't invest in car product development and its lineup is narrow. This is due to Musk's fixation on self-driving and it's the only part of product development that Tesla is investing in properly. - Musk's own outbursts and politics have destroyed Tesla's brand.

It’s almost like execs leave and nothing bad ever happens. Yet every time they leave Reddit says it spells the end of Tesla.

He's the Einstein of helping sales and manufacturing the X by raising the price $10K.

Good riddance
