"Live Activity support for Supercharging on iOS 17.2+. Status updates will start automatically as soon as your charging session begins."

Dragunspecter 2025-05-28 16:45

Interesting, I wonder if it will just alert if the session errors completely or will it also if there's a degradation from the expected charge curve.

Anyone charging to see what this looks like? What the benefits are?

trulsern99 2025-05-28 17:04

Wonder what this means🤔

Rollertoaster7 2025-05-28 17:08

It’ll allow iPhone users to see the charging status from the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island without having to go to the app, like this https://images.app.goo.gl/V6bMGqrkT1rAcBWT7

trulsern99 2025-05-28 17:09

Oh, that's nice!

PM_TITS_FOR_KITTENS 2025-05-28 17:19

The benefits are you see charging percentage at the top of your phone and Lock Screen. That’s it

Mbaby1989 2025-05-28 20:03

That’s awesome. Could be a really nice feature if done well.

Matt_NZ 2025-05-28 21:11

About time…Rivian has had this on their app for a while now. In Rivian’s case, I think it works for all charging sessions, which would have been nice to have as an option from Tesla as well

J-a-x 2025-05-28 22:40

Why only supercharging?

Baul 2025-05-28 23:15

Live activities are supposed to be for short lived, 'active' type events. When you're supercharging, you're expected to move your vehicle afterwards. Being able to see the status of your charge easily is convenient. When you're at home, it'd be kind of annoying to have this huge notification sitting there for 8+ hours, especially if all you care about is that it's charged by morning.

J-a-x 2025-05-29 00:21

I live in a building with shared 5 kW chargers and public 10 kW chargers and each of these require me to move my car when finished charging.

mindracer 2025-05-29 00:28

Wish I had it for normal charging as I always use public chargers

Baul 2025-05-29 01:28

Well there's your answer. Everyone who supercharges needs this. Not everyone who charges at home needs it, or would even want it. When shipping a new feature, it's common practice to focus on the most common usecase. Perhaps down the line they'll give you the option to enable it for your charges. In the meantime, it's probably not too hard for you to notice that you'll be done charging in 2h, and to set a timer on your phone.

You don’t know what a live activity is? Or you have an android? Pretty sure they are adding a similar feature.

moldy912 2025-05-29 01:56

Sorry, most people with teslas do not have this problem.

J-a-x 2025-05-29 02:01

And yet i see a lot of people asking for it.

moldy912 2025-05-29 03:25

You think most Tesla owners have chargers that aren’t superchargers and requiring unplugging after a set time? Ok dude lol

trulsern99 2025-05-29 05:40

Hehe I didn't actually know that the feature was called "live activity". But I've definitely seen it before😁

[deleted] 2025-05-29 08:21

That looks cool, even better would be a live activity for any charging though. Sometimes I use 3rd party fast chargers if they are substantially cheaper 😅

Gigtooo 2025-05-29 12:00

It’s amazing! And works great!

[deleted] 2025-05-29 21:04

It’s been awesome, good update

BeerBaitIceAmmo 2025-05-30 05:54

So you don't get charged $1.00/min idle fee once the car is done charging at a Supercharger

Zealousideal_Aside96 2025-05-31 01:03

You get a notification for that anyway warning you

HuzzaXO 2025-05-31 15:52

Unless mine is messed up, you don’t actually see the percentage update live. You have to go to the app for it to update on the island/Lock Screen.

asoksevil 2025-06-01 22:32

Very cool! Just saw it today as I was supercharging. I no longer need to access the app for it

TheOrangeJimmy 2025-07-03 06:22

This feature worked for me when it was announced, but is not working for me now. Anyone else find the Live Activities when Supercharging stopped working?
