I would love to do this with my Enphase batteries. I have had to use them a few times but over all they are mainly just for backup.

I just got $10k (plus future quarterly payments) for owning two of them and signing up for VPP with my utility company. Overall, my solar system and 2 power walls should cost $17k after I get my tax credit next year.
Insert $1 into slot under screen, select numbers and wait for the next Tesla Powerball!!
I wish my utility company would support this. We have sharing agreements (where they'll 'pay me back' basically 1/10th the cost id pay them for the same kWh) and offer zero incentives.
Made a nice $175 last summer. Easy money
Some utility companies like SMUD do have VPP (w/incentives) for non-Tesla batteries.

Are you talking solar production? Divert that into your car when able. Option 1: intstall Wallbox Pulsar Plus with energy monitor or Emporia bundle. Configure to capture solar export. It dynamically adjusts car charge rate to slurp up exactly your export without buying any peak hour power from the utility. Option 2: have Tesla Solar and a Tesla Car and any charger. The Tesla solar and car talk to each other directly. Is there an option for Tesla Wall Connector? Sorry there is not, I don't make the rules. The hardware exists (Neurio meter) but the software is not there.

That'd be nice, unfortunately I got a solar system already installed with about 12 kW (AC) of solar production too. I have a Tesla too. the issue really is I have nothing to store it apart from buying a $11k after federal credits powerwall and thus not only can I not store power currently, but even if its a sunny day and the grid is down because some line is down my solar system still turns off. I just wish powerwalls were cheaper. 3 miles away in a different state they cost $4k rather than 11k. The sad part is the payback period is something like 27 years for a powerwall as well. But yes I do divert excess solar production into my Tesla. its not that much as I WFH and dont drive nearly enough.
Depends on your utility tariff and EV usage. Then there are X-factors like "are you buying a second EV at some point".
Given the ratio between your solar production and driving usage, I agree that's probably not going to pay for an Emporia or Wallbox. On the cost of home battery, expect that to take a dive in the near future as the cost of power electronics and batteries are currently in free-fall. There may also be utility incentives once states and utilities realize the benefits.
Im hoping so too. I think Tesla will find a way to drop these prices a lot, afterall in terms of capacity the $/Wh Powerwalls a4e around $1/Wh vs a Model 3 is $0.75/Wh (including other costs like motors, seats, rest of the car etc.)
