How poorly run is the project when the marketing assets were not secured before naming.

They denied “RoboTaxi” because it is “merely descriptive” yet they approved “Autopilot” and “Full Self Driving”?

Fond_Memory 2025-05-08 10:48

They should use 三 instead then.

MindStalker 2025-05-08 16:07

It doesn't appear the did. Something like Tesla Autopilot, is automagically trademarked. Nobody else could say they are Tesla Autopilot, because that would violate the trademark on Tesla itself. Other companies can and do offer Autopilot things. They were attempting to trademark RoboTaxi, not just Tesla RoboTaxi to keep any other company from using the term RoboTaxi

Tetris_Prime 2025-05-08 16:17

Most of the names were thought up while being high as a kite on Joe Rogan aftershow, leaving no tangible wiggle room for any marketing work to be done beforehand.

So just slap Tesla on it and we’re good then?

MindStalker 2025-05-08 18:54

Well yeah them not getting the trademark just means they can't stop other people from using the name robotaxi it doesn't stop them from using it.

To be fair Full Self Driving isn’t descriptive of the way it works

What im most curious about, is how do you program the car to drive defensively while under attack? if dangerous people were attacking the vehicle or chasing you- can you tell it to override its normal ride protocol and drive defensively to evade danger?

They should just go with the secret codeword for Cybercab. Isn’t it Alicorn or something

Can’t wait to see all the insurance scams and faked accidents that take place when these hit the road. What is Elon going to do when claims and lawsuits take up 50 pages of the annual report.
