The power still has to be produced somehow … how about Earth Week closing by not going anywhere and not using energy for transport?

kingralph7 2025-04-26 12:02

In Europe, basically all superchargers are powered by (or at least the electricity paid for of course are) renewables.

gunner_3 2025-04-26 12:03

If anything they should charge more on earth week rather than doing it free.

Mediocre-Message4260 2025-04-26 12:42

Lead by example!

lil-huso 2025-04-26 13:18

How would the earth benefit from that

DaemonCRO 2025-04-26 13:38

Will do!

nevetsyad 2025-04-26 13:48

All power used is offset by renewables...

ilrosewood 2025-04-26 13:51

What - no free charging in Kansas?! I’m shocked.

DaemonCRO 2025-04-26 13:52

That’s a very greenwashed statement. Burning coal but then buying some green credits to offset that coal is not the way to go.

1FrostySlime 2025-04-26 13:52

I am skeptical of Teslas claim that the network is 100% renewable since they don't say how they're offsetting the very substantial amount of electricity not generated by renewables on their network they just say they're doing it. Renewable Energy Credits and Carbon Credits have a history of not being the most accurate things out there a lot of the time and when I can't even look into how Tesla is offsetting emissions because they won't disclose that information I am, to say the least, sus.

Jimmy_Durango 2025-04-26 14:04

Same. I’m in Missouri and I’m shocked. Not really. No one cares about us.

QoLTech 2025-04-26 14:19

May dissuade someone from charging more than they need resulting in lower produced energy and lower emissions. Also could donate the extra money to planting trees, or conservation, etc. It's pretty common to see things like this.

Life_Connection420 2025-04-26 14:26

Negative Nelly

Life_Connection420 2025-04-26 14:26

In the US, we support the coal industry and the oil or gas industry

Taylooor 2025-04-26 15:15

Perhaps they chose those specific chargers because they’re powered by renewables

gunner_3 2025-04-26 16:04

Free charging on Earth Day actually encourages people to charge more than they normally would, which is kind of the opposite of what we should be doing for the environment.

Brandalf13 2025-04-26 16:17

How much do you pay for electricity in Kansas? To us in CA, your charging is always basically free lol.

Lovevas 2025-04-26 16:26

Don't spread false info, Tesla/supercharger does not support coal imdustry

Life_Connection420 2025-04-26 17:39

How do you think they get the electricity for the superchargers?

Lovevas 2025-04-26 17:51

They get from electricity companies, they don't buy directly from coal companies. If you believe buying from electricity company is supporting coal company, then everyone in the country/world is supporting coal company

Rxke2 2025-04-26 18:48

> I’m shocked. Don't put your fingers in the charger outlet :p

Special-Pollution-99 2025-04-26 19:46

Went to the NJ location for a charge and local dealership was there with a number of cars for test drive. Took a cybertruck/beast for a drive while charging. The wire steering is something else as well as the power of that thing. When got back Tesla employee there provided me with some free swag as well… Charging is free until 6p better get on it!

mhoepfin 2025-04-26 23:00

That Ft Pierce new supercharger is like a walking dead episode. Absolute worst spot imaginable to put such a large station, abandoned strip mall in the meth/homeless capital of Fl.

Life_Connection420 2025-04-26 23:59

That is true. It does not mean that people march around supporting coal, they are simply using electricity, which is a byproduct of coal in many cases.

drewbaumann 2025-04-27 03:57

What were the freebies?

ilrosewood 2025-04-27 06:34

Fair point

Deezez808 2025-04-27 19:40

for Illinois, It was FCFS free windshield wipers, free air filter swaps, free coffee in the AM, free food truck in the PM, test drives, and some post cards

drewbaumann 2025-04-27 19:41

Not bad! I’m bummed I heard about it around 8PM last night.

Direct-Eggplant8111 2025-04-27 22:00

Aalborg (DK) had free cupcakes with chocolate Tesla logos, all kinds of drinks and free charging. All nice on a day you need to drive a long distance with kids, but air filter swap would have been even nicer.

alexl_4 2025-04-28 13:24

That’s awesome

Fiftynems 2025-04-28 13:31

France is also on Earth, can we celebrate Earth Week with you? 😏

roshanpr 2025-05-01 04:03

This is the info the media doesn’t want you to see
