Adaptive headlights!

Auxilae 2025-04-12 00:29

"Your vehicle's side cameras (B-Pillar) will now be recorded to both Dashcam and Sentry clips, increasing the total number of camera views from 4 to 6. " Huge. Biggest blind spot is now pretty much gone. Funny, [less than a week ago](https://www.reddit.com/r/TeslaModel3/comments/1jrxmkg/anyway_to_increase_sentry_sensitivity/mlievmt/?context=3) I was talking about how it was a limitation of the Intel atom chip, and that they kept it 4 even though the Ryzen chips could support it, seems I jinxed it.

Ahh-fuckk 2025-04-12 00:29

“Save Trunk Height Based on Location” Finally! I’m so excited for this lol

heartfailures 2025-04-12 00:31

> Avoid Highways yay finally

decrego641 2025-04-12 00:31

The real question I have is this finally the long promised matrix update in the US for my 2023 Model 3 or not

Darkdub09 2025-04-12 00:32

"If your hotspot is enabled, it will automatically connect to your vehicle once you start driving, so you won’t have to reconnect each time" This took way too long.

reed1234321 2025-04-12 00:33

This really isn’t much

Auxilae 2025-04-12 00:36

Sentry Cam limitation and Adaptive headlights were two of the most requested features. They got them both in one release, that's solid. If you wanted these updates on another car you'd have to buy a newer model year.

PunkAintDead 2025-04-12 00:37

To be fair it says only for the newer S3XYs

Sohmal3 2025-04-12 00:39

I have matrix headlights already activated on Model Y Juniper and they work great. No more low beams when there is oncoming traffic.

nFgOtYYeOfuT8HjU1kQl 2025-04-12 00:40

This is a very very nice update. People who are bilingual joy!

Redvinezzz 2025-04-12 00:42

Not a lot of flashy stuff but how much more is there to do? There is quite a few quality improvements

WilliamG007 2025-04-12 00:42

I assume this means Ryzen? But Tesla is so vague about this, just as they are about adaptive headlights and which models get it, by which I mean maybe not all matrix headlights are the same among matrix-equipped models.

Digital_Zen 2025-04-12 00:42

woah Apple Music playlist shuffle finally fixed

VeryRealHuman23 2025-04-12 00:42

Not bad, wasn’t expecting anything but happy for the update. Still hoping they give us options for slower wiper speeds

WilliamG007 2025-04-12 00:47

Where are all the people who were SURE the existing matrix cars weren’t going to get adaptive headlights in the USA?

Vik- 2025-04-12 00:51

Blind spot camera on dash screen for S/X is awesome.

tesny 2025-04-12 00:52

What defines a "newer" model?

blrm71 2025-04-12 00:52

We have an original Model X and would love this feature, sadly just the new ones though 😭

cahayes2 2025-04-12 00:55

Can you explain what this means? Like connecting to an iPhone hotspot for connectivity in the car versus paying for premium connectivity?

tenemu 2025-04-12 00:56

Some people will never be happy. Their car gives updates and makes it better a few times a year, and it's never enough.

onestopunder 2025-04-12 00:58

Exactly!

based5 2025-04-12 00:59

Avoid highways finally

cahayes2 2025-04-12 01:00

Ah, never thought to do this. Does it work well? Or is it finicky?

TheBurtReynold 2025-04-12 01:00

Wish the “blinker cam” would be changed to only display when the vehicle is moving (e.g., changing lanes). I don’t need to see behind me when I’m stopped, at a stop sign, turning 90-degrees to the right. In fact, the camera view just clutters the UI — whenever the car is stopped, I’d rather the FSD UI pivot to show me what it’s seeing down the main “threat axis” — kind of like how Chuck Cook will hold his finger on the UI to force it to keep showing what the car is seeing in his UPL videos.

pinpinbo 2025-04-12 01:01

Aw yeah, many of my grievances are addressed exactly the way I imagined it. GJ GJ.

Aaronnm 2025-04-12 01:03

yeah disappointing that the 6 camera sentry isn’t available on older models.

PunkAintDead 2025-04-12 01:03

I wish I knew ¯\\\_(ツ)_/¯  That's the language used verbatim in their release notes.

WilliamG007 2025-04-12 01:05

Yes. Hyped for that.

ackermann 2025-04-12 01:07

This is brilliant! I second this, if anyone at Tesla is reading this…

onestopunder 2025-04-12 01:08

Works great. But until this update, you would have to manually reconnect to WiFi every time you got in the car. So PITA, but it worked just fine.

Stew_Pedaso 2025-04-12 01:10

I really hope they bring smart summon to the cybertruck before the next winter.

fayevalentinee 2025-04-12 01:12

Any idea which models will support this?

Fletchetti 2025-04-12 01:13

Doesn’t work completely. Can’t do caraoke without the subscription connectivity.

Bluebottle_coffee 2025-04-12 01:15

Imagine matrix headlights only for hw4 lol

GenghisFrog 2025-04-12 01:16

Kinda random, but do you know if it allows the streaming apps like Apple Music to stream higher quality audio?

picflute 2025-04-12 01:17

>Blind Spot Camera on Driver Screen (New Model S/X) God forbid they do it for legacy!

reed1234321 2025-04-12 01:18

I don’t have the new 3 so I don’t have them

Mysterious_Sea1489 2025-04-12 01:20

Just a bummer there’s no retrofit for a faster computer. I find any reasoning of it not fitting hard to understand.

Neat_Reference7559 2025-04-12 01:21

Bro they did it. Apple Music users rejoice!!!

Neat_Reference7559 2025-04-12 01:21

Yep. Can finally get rid of Spotify!

Legitimate-Celery796 2025-04-12 01:22

No long gonna hit my head because I set it low enough to not hit the ceiling at a nearby car park, yay

wizardofkoz 2025-04-12 01:23

An option would be good, since this would still be useful in cities with bike lanes on the side of the road.

JtheNinja 2025-04-12 01:25

I’m 90% ready to believe our time is come. But I have just a tiny bit of fear some Tesla CTO is gonna tweet next week that it’s highland/juniper only. EDIT: wait, that’s a pre-facelift 3/Y in the example pic. 95% ready to believe now!

SmarmySnail 2025-04-12 01:25

I don't even understand why the new model X needs this. It already has a USS on the roof for the falcon wing doors that it also uses to not open the trunk to full height.

Pi_R_Squared 2025-04-12 01:27

I find it handy when checking for bikes, when making that 90 degree right. Hope they don’t remove it.

JtheNinja 2025-04-12 01:28

3s going back to 2021 or so have some form of matrix headlights. Just an open question atm if this update includes them.

JtheNinja 2025-04-12 01:29

My giant power ballads playlist can shuffle all the pages at once!

famoussasjohn 2025-04-12 01:29

Seems all that are equipped with the hardware are getting it.

ken830 2025-04-12 01:33

Exactly. It already works well.

Auxilae 2025-04-12 01:34

The difference being the car physically can't support the updates (e.g., it doesn't have Matrix headlights, and doesn't have a Ryzen CPU). Other car manufacturers usually would only target their newest model years for new features, even if older model years could support physically support them just fine. The cars which *can* support the upgrades *are* getting it. That's the difference.

reed1234321 2025-04-12 01:38

That doesn’t change what I said. It’s not much of an update for me

Mikep976 2025-04-12 01:43

Me owning a HW3 Intel model 3 before I click into this wondering how screwed I’m gonna be not getting anything.

Fixing FSD on HW3

StierMarket 2025-04-12 01:50

When new FSD update? Been a while

Artistic_Okra7288 2025-04-12 01:53

Turning 90-degrees to the right, I want to see the left cam on because I'm most likely merging left immediately after. Same for 90-degree turns to the left, there are some turns I want the right cam on because I'm immediately merging right.

yhsong1116 2025-04-12 01:56

Finally. Connecting every time was annoying

CosmicBlazeZZ 2025-04-12 01:57

No Grok?

yhsong1116 2025-04-12 01:58

Previously it meant refreshed 3. Not sure if it means the same here

yhsong1116 2025-04-12 01:59

That’s a different update. Also “fix” isn’t quite the right word for it imo

djusername 2025-04-12 02:08

now I really want a dash screen on my Y

djusername 2025-04-12 02:09

Keep Accessory Power On - does this mean car fridges will work properly again?

johnnyma45 2025-04-12 02:10

I wish they made overheat protection location dependent. I don’t need it to keep my car always cooled when I’m at home.

Jason_1834 2025-04-12 02:18

Yes!

decrego641 2025-04-12 02:19

Hold the line!

zikronix 2025-04-12 02:19

So nothing for people that don’t have new models

TeslaAI 2025-04-12 02:23

I want PREFER highways lol. My car tries to take a backroad every day home despite the highway taking the same amount of time.

lawrence1024 2025-04-12 02:23

Pre-2025 Ioniq 5 drivers are hoping and praying that Hyundai gives them a software update just so they can manually activate battery preconditioning, and it'll probably never happen. We are so lucky to get these updates. What are you expecting? The software has been updated and matured for over a decade now. They can't keep coming up with revolutionary features forever.

lawrence1024 2025-04-12 02:24

blrm71 2025-04-12 02:29

Mine has sensors too, but it’s so conservative with opening the trunk that I have to manually open it farther every time

lioninla 2025-04-12 02:30

Hopefully so, but it was never promised. People just noticed that the cars started coming with the hardware for it.

TheMartian2k14 2025-04-12 02:40

Someone in the sub was saying the car doesn’t distinguish between home WiFi and hotspot WiFi, and can end up sending go upon tons of telemetry data over the hotspot. Edit - typo

ChunkyThePotato 2025-04-12 02:43

What a brave soldier.

Rangizingo 2025-04-12 02:45

Set up a Siri shortcut if you have iPhone so that when you connect to the Bluetooth device that is your car, hot spot turns on. And, make one so when it disconnects, hotspot turns off. Been doing that for a year. Works perfect.

Redvinezzz 2025-04-12 02:51

If you’re taking a right at a stop sign you should absolutely be checking your blind spot/mirrors for cyclists or anything unexpected

TheBurtReynold 2025-04-12 02:51

We can have our cake and eat it, too — **if** FSD engaged **then** don’t show camera **else** show camera

knapsackMax 2025-04-12 03:02

This update is better but I have been using a workaround by naming my hotspot same as my home wifi and having the same password. It works smoothly.

Cardcleaner 2025-04-12 03:09

AVOID HIGHWAYS!!!!!!

RonSpawnsonTP 2025-04-12 03:15

Which hardware? Is gen 1 matrix supported?

decrego641 2025-04-12 03:18

It actually has been promised by a [Tesla executive](https://x.com/larsmoravy/status/1849957297046552609?s=46&t=UdQHZH3jg1u7O0R6waLIgQ)

CriticalBasedTheory 2025-04-12 03:19

nevetsyad 2025-04-12 03:22

No cheapest route trip planning?

Ssjultrainstnict 2025-04-12 03:23

Totally, i was wondering when tesla will start making the dash screen more useful

JtheNinja 2025-04-12 03:32

The release notes image depicts a pre-facelift 3/Y, so…presumably?

Any-Butterscotch-362 2025-04-12 03:42

Parking Intel-based cars manually is tough in tight spots. Even with lots of cameras, judging distance is very hard compared cars having on 360° camera view or Ryzen-based Teslas. When do we get at least a lightweight Autopark-style view in manual parking mode?

Substantial-Height25 2025-04-12 03:46

Fuhhh why isnt legacy getting this 🥲🥲

refpuz 2025-04-12 03:50

Wondering if they will ever fix gapless playback for Spotify. They had it for about a year and then it broke again. That was a year ago and it still isn’t fixed.

E90alex 2025-04-12 03:59

Glad I rejected my original 2022 VIN that had the old headlights due to parts shortages. Got assigned a new one a week later with the matrix lights. People on forums were saying people were crazy and making too big of a deal for no real difference.

WilliamG007 2025-04-12 04:01

They’re wrong. I had a 2021 refresh S which was bought back and I then got a 2022 refresh S with matrix. The difference in uniformity and brightness and visibility is HUGE. I remember moving from my 2019 Model 3 (LED, non-matrix) to the 2021 S and it was actually super disappointing in terms of headlights. The 2022 refresh is night and day better for driving at night.

YERAFIREARMS 2025-04-12 04:08

No news on new FSD features?

notabot53 2025-04-12 04:14

Good question

notabot53 2025-04-12 04:16

Hopefully they make it customizable in the future

notabot53 2025-04-12 04:18

So the low beams are not used anymore?

AWildDragon 2025-04-12 04:18

You may want to reach out to support. That should have been rolled out to you by now. Something must be up with your cars config.

Individual-Ad-8645 2025-04-12 04:20

Exactly. I have to push it further up otherwise it's too low. This will come in handy.

Individual-Ad-8645 2025-04-12 04:22

Ford is not a software company. Tesla is basically a software company that also produces cars.

strawboard 2025-04-12 04:36

Fix? It works great.

imacleopard 2025-04-12 04:50

No

WilliamG007 2025-04-12 05:00

From here: [https://www.notateslaapp.com/news/2648/tesla-announces-the-2025-spring-update-b-pillar-recording-dashcam-viewer-improvements-avoid-highways-and-more](https://www.notateslaapp.com/news/2648/tesla-announces-the-2025-spring-update-b-pillar-recording-dashcam-viewer-improvements-avoid-highways-and-more) Requirements for Dashcam and Sentry Mode Updates Unfortunately, there is some bad news regarding compatibility with the B-pillar camera recording and this improved Dashcam Viewer. Tesla says the Dashcam updates will only apply to newer “S3XY” vehicles, but they don’t specify the exact requirement. Based on previous Tesla posts, where they usually list if a feature requires the AMD Ryzen infotainment processor, this requirement doesn’t sound like an Intel vs AMD issue, but instead one that relies on AI4 hardware, which is responsible for processing the video feeds. \------ I hope they're wrong.

ChunkyThePotato 2025-04-12 05:00

I've seen all of Lars' tweets. He never said pre-refresh Model 3 would be getting adaptive headlight software.

asoksevil 2025-04-12 05:10

See next song on YouTube Music! Let’s see how many of these things get to legacy Model S/X

Issaction 2025-04-12 05:27

Very nice update. Quite a few features that feel more classic Tesla as opposed to what we’ve been getting the past few years. More well thought out.

playfull6218 2025-04-12 06:45

Not anything with an Intel chip

n3wm0dd3r 2025-04-12 06:59

Indeed the same here, hope they are referring to Ryzen models. 😅

sefds16 2025-04-12 07:23

MCU is not responsible for dashcam encoding, the FSD computer is (HW3/HW4). The raw camera feeds goes to the Autopilot computer, where it gets encoded, and the encoded stream gets transferred by ethernet to the MCU. The FSD computer is capable of encoding all 9 camera streams simultaneously. It has to, because Tesla needs data for FSD training and all 9 camera feeds gets sent back to Tesla. Older Tesla's with MCU2 + HW3.0 only has a 100mbps ethernet link. 100mbps is barely enough to transfer the 4 encoded streams to the MCU, let alone a raw video stream. In later versions fo HW3 (aka HW3.1), the ethernet link was upgraded to gigabit as 100mbps was very congested. The limitation on 4 streams is because of the older hardware's 100mbps limit. While this can be circumvented by lowering video bitrate, but that reduces the already somewhat low video quality even lower. Of course on HW3.1 and above this is not a problem with the gigabit link.

Saregnar 2025-04-12 07:59

This is better than the Xmas update!

LimpHamster1107 2025-04-12 09:03

What, I always have to start Hotspot on iPhone, then when I start driving I need to turn on WiFi in the Car again because it turns off itself when putting in D.

tightcall 2025-04-12 09:20

My 2022 Model 3 non highland has adaptive. Starting with year 2022 they all have.

Dr_Nik 2025-04-12 10:03

I've seen posts that the 2022 Ys don't have it, only starting with 2023. I have a 2022 Y so I guess I'll find out? Any idea if that could be retrofit?

tightcall 2025-04-12 10:15

Look at the headlight, if it has the glass lens, round like a globe then you have matrix.

HybridAlien 2025-04-12 10:43

More model y 2024 love please

_casshern_ 2025-04-12 11:15

Hot spot? Or do you mean Bluetooth?

TheYaMeZ 2025-04-12 12:43

Good update. Android auto support or a less useless voice assistant are my top wishes!

north7 2025-04-12 13:16

They're more akin to Apple making a Mac with wheels. Highly integrated hardware and software.

JustAnothrMechanic58 2025-04-12 13:36

I’ve seen at least one or two 2023 Model Ys with the reflective LEDs instead of the matrix LEDs.

JasonQG 2025-04-12 14:10

You should still be checking with FSD engaged

TheBurtReynold 2025-04-12 14:10

I mean, if Robotaxi is real then this is a ridiculous take

JasonQG 2025-04-12 14:11

It’s definitely not real yet

TheBurtReynold 2025-04-12 14:12

Neither is the feature I’m requesting 😅

JasonQG 2025-04-12 14:19

Fair, I thought you wanted the feature now

TheBurtReynold 2025-04-12 14:20

God damn, this is Tesla we’re talking about … we’ll be on Mars before they implement a suggestion

TheMartian2k14 2025-04-12 14:36

Ah interesting, I never figured that could be it. I’ve always had data sharing turned off too. Checking my router usage over the last month it looks like the car has used all of 10gb, and that was on two days mostly, likely meaning they were software updates.

MattMason1703 2025-04-12 15:22

I just want the ability to make the clock bigger.

Few_Commission3296 2025-04-12 15:48

If you do a Tesla light show, the matrix lights display Tesla on a wall with individual pixels, easiest way to tell if you have it or not

Deliveries in 2022 were inconsistent, it was installed on refreshed 2020-early 2022 models but taken away from some later 2022-2023 deliveries. >Based on the stickers that display the manufacturing date, it appeared the switchover to using the old headlights took place on cars built on or around April 25. https://driveteslacanada.ca/model-3/tesla-reverted-non-matrix-led-headlights-model-3/ As someone who took delivery in late Feb 2022 and read a lot that year from new owners basically all of 2022 was a shitshow. Jan 2022: Mostly Atom, Some Ryzen + USS + Matrix Feb-April: Ryzen + USS + Matrix (<--- I am part of this lucky group) April - Oct: Ryzen + USS + no Matrix Oct - Dec: Ryzen + no USS + maybe Matrix

Steves1982 2025-04-12 16:21

No news on acceleration boost for the Model 3 Highland. Anyone got an educated guess on how much longer it might be?

tempting_the_gods 2025-04-12 16:22

Was hoping for this as well, but as we know with Siri AI integration, it can be difficult to integrate with existing voice functions.

tempting_the_gods 2025-04-12 16:24

My only gripe with Apple Music in my Tesla. Fixed! This is why I will not sell my Tesla.

deej628 2025-04-12 16:28

Woohoo lucky one here as well. 22 3 perf

thedrivingcat 2025-04-12 16:30

Sorry, I also forgot to mention the matrix headlight changes don't apply to the Performance and they were never taken away from that trim level... but we're still both lucky to have USS + Ryzen!

deej628 2025-04-12 16:37

Very cool! Good to know!

[deleted] 2025-04-12 16:45

Yes about time. Always baffled me why it wasn't there since day one.

[deleted] 2025-04-12 16:46

Auto comfort mode on AP in CT is just stupid since comfort mode defaults to chill profile. They should give an option to disable that.

jnads 2025-04-12 17:28

Actually you don't have to manually connect. As long as you check the "keep connected in drive" option it stays connected. The issue is there is a delay when you get in the car before it starts searching for WiFi. If you go into Drive too quickly it won't attempt to connect to your hotspot at all in Drive. But if you wait 30 seconds hotspot works fine. Source: I've been doing this for the last 6 months since the price increase.

jnads 2025-04-12 17:32

There's a delay between getting in the car and when it starts searching for WiFi If you start driving too quickly it will never search when in drive. I think now they are saying if you mark a connection as hotspot it will attempt to search for it in drive.

Juice805 2025-04-12 17:54

Excited! Tired of the blind spot covering the navigation, but I prefer the blind spot cam to be as far left as possible when I need it.

Scoutron 2025-04-12 18:07

I have never gotten this analogy. They produce cars primarily. They produce software for the car, but it is solely for the car and the main point of the company is the car. This is like other auto manufacturers, Tesla is just way better at it

O2L 2025-04-12 18:15

Yes for Tidal. It treats it exactly the same as being connected to WiFi.

mrlego45 2025-04-12 18:53

I never knew this was an option to stay connected.

jnads 2025-04-12 19:15

You select it when you type in the password. It sometimes gets covered up by the keyboard. There is a checkbox.

mrlego45 2025-04-12 19:58

Aha!

pmich80 2025-04-12 20:33

Right? Everytime I shift into gear it disconnects wifi and I have to turn it on again. (Even with the option not to disconnect checked).

Quiet_Researcher7166 2025-04-12 20:34

Still no gapless playblack for all sources? That sucks man

CillGuy 2025-04-12 21:08

Only way I can download updates for my car, too.

DAC_Returns 2025-04-12 21:22

Great advise, just did it myself. [Youtube video showing how if anyone else wants to do this.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X-Vra5twSTo)

Individual-Ad-8645 2025-04-12 22:02

Software is one of the most important, if not the most important, part of an electric car or any modern car. It controls every part of the car including battery management, drivetrain, steering, braking, etc etc. not just the infotainment.

Individual-Ad-8645 2025-04-12 22:04

Why would any software engineers want to work for Ford? It’s an old legacy company good at making ICE cars, but far from a tech company.

Scoutron 2025-04-12 22:16

They’re the top selling car in the US and the leading EV manufacturer worldwide, they’re not going anywhere any time soon lol

Scoutron 2025-04-12 22:17

I’m well aware, but the software they are producing is for the car. Everything in their company is based around producing automobiles

epradox 2025-04-12 23:06

Way more complicated than just seeing if you just visually look at the headlight and see if it’s it has a black housing with a projector lens or just clear reflectors. But I guess this way is the only sure way for people who aren’t capable of differentiating it visually.

Individual-Ad-8645 2025-04-12 23:33

Not just cars. Also robotics, communications. And Tesla cars are really software platforms.

Scoutron 2025-04-12 23:57

They do other things, but their primary purpose is still cars. Most modern cars are software platforms at this point, even the brands that are more traditional still have a massive amount of software and electronics in their vehicles

WaterCamel 2025-04-13 00:01

What features does it have for bilingual folk?

nFgOtYYeOfuT8HjU1kQl 2025-04-13 00:40

Keyboard will be able to switch language

RealKent 2025-04-13 00:51

How do you set the trunk height location? The release notes just provide instruction on setting the height, but does the car automatically remember where it currently is with that height? At my work garage, I have less clearance than at home, so if I manually adjust and hold down the button until the tone, is that it and it remembers it for that location only?

jnads 2025-04-13 02:36

It's possible it's just because I have Intel instead of Ryzen. It takes ~15 seconds after getting in the car before the MCU will bother turning on WiFi to start searching, and if you put it in drive before that time, it won't turn on WiFi at all.

Sohmal3 2025-04-13 03:15

You can manually do that, but Auto keeps the high beam on all the time.

goodvibezone 2025-04-13 03:16

I was approved for a senior role at the EV division. I asked why they weren't going with an internal candidate, given their pipeline. "Oh, we want someone NOT at Ford. Want absolutely want it to be fresh perspectives, not old blue, blah blah". No update for 3 weeks. Then they tell me they hired an internal candidate.

Individual-Ad-8645 2025-04-13 03:38

Sure they do. The amount of software or quality of software just isn’t the same for legacy companies. When they only rollout one update a year or when they can’t even get OTA to work reliably, it doesn’t give me faith in their software expertise.

fuacamole 2025-04-13 03:48

when is a good use of this feature? i’m curious cause i haven’t encountered any

Cardcleaner 2025-04-13 03:56

In my area I-40 is mostly semi trucks. Its just way less stressful to take surface streets most of the time. Especially for only 1 or 2 exits.

SolsticeCo 2025-04-13 03:58

What’s the version # of the software update?

[deleted] 2025-04-13 04:50

No kidding! I was excited way more than I should have been.

[deleted] 2025-04-13 04:53

I love taking country/rural roads for fun drives and just getting lost on random roads. On the way back home, I may need some directions but don't want to be on the highway. I know that's a small use case.

I would imagine it works like sentry mode at different locations. If so, it should remember height at each location you set it (ex. work, home etc).

fuacamole 2025-04-13 06:39

ah i see. that makes sense. thanks

rvbsoftdev 2025-04-13 09:23

2025.14, now rolling out to Tesla employees.

ZeroWashu 2025-04-13 11:45

Energy and robotics is my guess. I easily mass produced robot that can learn would be revolutionary but its not hard to understand that Tesla could be beaten to the market. Yet at the same time they may just be able to do it for far less. Energy simply because it YOY increases significantly and the worlds appetite for energy storage isn't going to stop anytime soon. Again many competitors but Telsa has the experience behind them

CosmicBlazeZZ 2025-04-13 12:25

I believe in Tesla, they can figure it out! Don’t get me started on Siri..

M1A1SteakSauce 2025-04-13 13:26

Finally get access to the B Pillar cameras for recording!! Thank god.

decrego641 2025-04-13 15:03

You’re just arguing the lightest of semantics, that tweet was in direct response to asking if a pre juniper Model Y with Matrix headlights was getting them completely activated in the US and Lars says “almost there”. I’d consider that a commitment or promise by the poster who is…oh yeah, a Tesla VP. I’m not saying promises are ironclad from a Tesla exec, I’m saying Lars did in fact point to pre refresh Model 3/Y getting Matrix in the US, unless you want to tell me that Juniper was actually widely available in Iceland to the general public in October 2024 and it’s a big secret. Remember why context is important, and then form a response to this.

B33f-Supreme 2025-04-13 17:36

Still no updates to turn by turn navigation? It’s still worse than a Garmin from the early 2000s, and constantly takes the wrong exit or just doesn’t display any turn information at all. It’s extremely shitty.

Hoover889 2025-04-13 21:05

For some reason google maps always suggests a route that is “faster” and sometimes it is faster to take a road south 3 miles, then a highway north for 10 miles, then get off the highway and drive 3 miles south rather than just take a 4 mile total route on a slower road.

ChunkyThePotato 2025-04-14 02:15

He simply said that adaptive headlight functionality is coming to the US soon. I don't think he was referring to any specific models. It's entirely possible that he could've meant Highland and Juniper only (but I think it's likely more than just those two). The point is: adaptative headlights coming to pre-refresh models certainly was never a promise. At best it was just one possible interpretation of a vague tweet. I think it will happen, but it wasn't promised.

SolsticeCo 2025-04-14 04:59

Appreciate it!

decrego641 2025-04-14 05:38

I disagree because I’m interpreting that response to a specific situation as a specific intent to deliver for that situation. Model Y Juniper wasn’t publicly released, so speculation that it was a general commitment to bring matrix headlights for that vehicle alongside the not referenced Model 3 Highland makes so much less sense than thinking it was referring to the actual content of the post it was responding to. I prefer to think the simplest solution is often what’s true rather than a convoluted reference to a not even released yet model and other vehicles in the Tesla lineup. Probably gonna be an agree to disagree here on the specific promise Lars made.

pw5a29 2025-04-14 07:16

Not sure what's updated here, I thought there was always an option to keep network at Drive?

Toastybunzz 2025-04-14 21:49

Between this and the traffic visual being part of the non premium data now, I might go back to standard and save $10 a month.

Toastybunzz 2025-04-14 21:51

I take the back roads to work pretty often because it's the same as sitting in traffic on the highway, until now I've had to manually plug in waypoints so the car will navigate that way.

Artemus_Hackwell 2025-04-15 03:22

I’m glad you mentioned something; karaoke I don’t care about but sentry is kind of huge.

Upstairs-Inspection3 2025-04-15 12:15

there is but maybe it doesnt make you enable wifi once you shift into drive? only thing i could think of,

The_cooler_ArcSmith 2025-04-15 14:33

Mine from 2021 has them, i know because it took forever to get a replacement

The_cooler_ArcSmith 2025-04-15 14:37

I've actually been holding off on updating specifically for this (I use my fridge a lot). I decided I'd only upgrade either if they added this or if Adaptive headlight support got added (for safety, then I'd tap the 12V penthouse to power my fridge). Nice to be getting both hopefully in thr same update (they may not support adaptive headlights for first gen matrix). Seems I can avoid tapping power on the penthouse for now, really wish they'd support V2G officially rather than the third party solution that's put there.

The_cooler_ArcSmith 2025-04-15 14:46

Maybe 1st gen matrix from 2021 won't be supported, maybe the processing is done by the MCU and Intel isn't powerful enough to run the current model, maybe the processing is done by the FSD computer and HW3 isn't powerful enough to reliably switch the matrix, maybe the HW3 cameras aren't high enough resolution or dynamic range to be able to accurately outline cars on the road, maybe they still don't like the Intel models and just won't activate it on those. We won't know until cars have the software update. I really hope they work, but any one of the above could prevent my car from getting the adaptive headlights support.

WilliamG007 2025-04-15 14:46

100%. Why hasn’t Tesla been clear about any of this?

The_cooler_ArcSmith 2025-04-15 14:49

Some Teslas from 2021 had the Matrix headlights (mine does). Going to be interesting to see if they're support those.

The_cooler_ArcSmith 2025-04-15 14:50

I'm afraid of that, could easily be locked down to new cameras, FSD computer, or AMD.

The_cooler_ArcSmith 2025-04-15 14:52

Either it supports all models and theres no reason to mention it, or it only supports some hardware and they want to put off people being upset.

WilliamG007 2025-04-15 14:53

Well we know the 6-camera recording only is for some models, and it might be just AI4 models. Or it might be Ryzen models. So vague.

PixelizedTed 2025-04-15 18:33

AP and FSD is not at all affected by chill or other throttle modes. FSD computer makes direct acceleration input to the motor, it doesn’t care how the pedal feels to the driver. Comfort mode (and chill) should switch off when AP disengages.

[deleted] 2025-04-15 19:51

Wasn't my experience in my S. Didn't get to try it out in CT. Maybe they changed it since I last tried it in S.

asoksevil 2025-04-15 21:48

Anybody here on legacy S/X can confirm what we are getting?

Squareman2020 2025-04-16 01:49
