Maybe only in california

b_m_hart 2025-04-11 15:23

Seems like an interesting coincidence that they're promoting this immediately after pushing out those people at the NHSA.

ConsistentRegister20 2025-04-11 15:23

I will never buy a vehicle without FSD. If you know, you know.

DewB77 2025-04-11 15:23

They are pushing everything leading up to this shitshow of a earnings call later this month.

b_m_hart 2025-04-11 15:26

Earnings will be fine - remember, they aren't a car company! (lol)

fifichanx 2025-04-11 15:26

My dad was afraid of the tech for a long time but once I got him started on FSD he said it’s like having a personal driver, and convinced my uncle to get a Tesla too.

coolgrey3 2025-04-11 15:28

Tried it, cancelled the sub, got a free offer, when it expired I realized I didn’t miss it when I already have autopilot included.

ENODEBEE 2025-04-11 15:33

Why are you flooding this sub with ads now u/TeslaAI?

Sweet_Terror 2025-04-11 15:40

Same. Make no mistake, I like FSD, but it's always been the same level 2 ADAS that it's always been. So long as I'm being held responsible for everything that the car does, then it's not worth (to me) thousands of dollars or $99/mo. Elon's been saying "this year" for multiple years now, and I'm done buying into his snake oil.

TeslaAI 2025-04-11 15:50

The issue is people think they are *just* a car company.

ConsistentRegister20 2025-04-11 15:54

I have been a FSD user for many years now. My wife used to hate having FSD enabled and now she prefers it to me driving. It is just so smooth. So I also got her a Tesla because she does not like driving.

TeslaAI 2025-04-11 15:57

They are from the official Tesla accounts that share news and other things since posts would 1) take multiple days for info to be posted here and 2) the place was dead. We're changing it up a bit to make it a bit more active and real-time. This place *is* a news-feed. I was given permission to automate posts that will share the latest of what Tesla is doing for Tesla Engineering, Tesla AI, and the main Tesla account. You don't have to agree with the idea, but we've always been about trying different things over the years, so that's what we're doing now to get the most real-time info here the fastest. Use your vote if you are unhappy with them. Upvote if they're useful and helpful to people, downvote if one is not. If you want more personal content go to r/TeslaLounge. We can be more proactive on removing the ones that have less 'news'. Also trimming which accounts it will post for (for instance removed the tesla_na for now) mainly because they post more than others and while the plan was to have North America-related posts, maybe no region specific variants is the way to go for now.

I watch the road and it drives. Sure late, but no other car can do what it can do and this has never been done before with cameras alone. I personally love being able to watch other bad drives around me who are on their phone swerving in their lane knowing mine is watching all around. So some people enjoy it, and you're welcome to call it what you want, but it has utility for people.

TeslaAI 2025-04-11 16:49

And Europe, and across the USA, and China, and... This "only in california" is such an old talking point.

squizzi 2025-04-11 17:23

It also has utility for people who live in different styles of environments: On a suburb road that's wide and has no foot traffic? Sure it works pretty well. On a city road with cars parked on the side, weird lane changes, bus lanes, pedestrians and all sorts of weirdness? I just can't reliably use it, so I don't, because I live in a city like that. It's admittedly a hard problem to solve and it does do it better than any other car but that's not worth it to me because it doesn't fully self drive for me in the circumstances I use my car in 90% of the time. I think what frustrates people across these threads is you get one group of people who may have a good FSD experience because of the roads their car drives on vs the other group who has a bad experience. But you get the people who have had a good experience saying it's absurd people are reluctant to use FSD when in reality their experience isn't always the norm.

ackermann 2025-04-11 17:27

> my dad was afraid of the tech (FSD) One part that’s still a little scary is difficult unprotected left turns. Specifically, be careful about taking over at the last second. If it’s tight and the car decides to go for it, but you think it’s cutting it too close so you hit the brakes… but you hit the brake a little too late and now you’re blocking high speed traffic… Got to work together. Either commit and go quick, and if it commits and goes, probably safer to stick with its decision. Or takeover before the turn and never let it try. It’s rare. I have a difficult turn like that near my house, and only had this happen once or twice in two years. But be aware of it. EDIT: The other scary thing is being in a slow or stopped freeway lane, with the next lane flying past you at high speed. If it decides to get out of the slow/stopped lane and into the adjacent fast lane… it better be careful. And you better be cautious about interrupting it in the middle of that maneuver.

Same. FSD drives me to work and everywhere else daily without a hitch. V12 and V13 both working great for me. Still needs some polishing, but I have almost zero worry about it causing any sort of accident.

TeslaAI 2025-04-11 17:35

I also think HW3 vs. HW4 is a big delta as well right now, some on 12.6.4 (I think that's the version) and others on 13.2.x which has much less quirks.

Otherwise_Rub_4557 2025-04-11 21:47

Wait, are u a bot? That's pretty cool
