thebiglebowskiisfine 2025-03-04 00:54

It's arson.

cryptoengineer 2025-03-04 01:07

This one is local to me, and I've charged there many times. I hope the arsonist(s) are caught. Super charger sites need their own Sentry Mode cameras, for driver and site security.

chiphitter 2025-03-04 01:08

Looks just a little bit suspicious.

[deleted] 2025-03-04 01:11

A little weird they they don't with so the vandalism and theft they were getting before, tbh. They even already have power and Internet!

Present-Ad-9598 2025-03-04 01:13

Stg. BUT it’s probably an issue with each business that they lease space from because not all of them would want surveillance from a third party yk

moch1 2025-03-04 01:14

Seems likely intentional given it’s at all the dispensers. Also likely done by people not familiar with superchargers given the power conversion cabinets appear untouched. I’d guess that’s the more expensive equipment (but I could be wrong).

mistsoalar 2025-03-04 01:24

If these were other brand chargers, dispenser fire means total loss.

ronntron 2025-03-04 01:27

I thought Tesla leases these spots, right? If yes, they would be able out cameras Luke any other business in these spots. Just a guess.

JSchnee21 2025-03-04 01:37

Surely there must be security cameras in the shopping center parking lot. Only a $5K reward? That’s at least $50-150K of damage. Tesla said no one was charging at the time the fire broke out at 1am or so.

ArtOfWarfare 2025-03-04 01:44

Attacking the power grid makes you a domestic terrorist, does it not? I think you skipped straight to the feds coming after you.

Puzzleheaded_Dog_43 2025-03-04 01:51

Damn....that's one of my nearby superchargers. You might have political issues...but wtf.

Present-Ad-9598 2025-03-04 02:10

Yea they do, but laws vary drastically state to state, and country to country. They may do it in a few charger locations but I can’t see this being wide spread

[deleted] 2025-03-04 02:11

[removed]

Errand_Wolfe_ 2025-03-04 02:14

if the fire made it over to those cabinets, this probably would've gone a bit differently and your opinion might've changed...

la_58 2025-03-04 02:44

one of the supercharger sites where I live has a police officer that sits and guards the stations (at least in the afternoon. I haven’t been during the day). I wasn’t sure if this was an isolated thing that the specific shopping center decided or if it would be the norm for most supercharger sites.

Organic_Car6374 2025-03-04 02:53

Almost stopped there to charge tonight. Glad I had the range to get home!

gdubb22 2025-03-04 02:53

"Sell your Tesla and get another EV." Ok, it's still on the road though. "Burn the chargers." But I will be using these chargers with a different EV as NACS is becoming standard. Maybe vote better next time people. Fucking idiots. Let's hurt green tech that'll show 'em.

cryptoengineer 2025-03-04 02:57

It was on my list of possibles this afternoon, but I wound up charging in Chelmsford.

sypher1187 2025-03-04 03:07

The power cabinets are still not part of the grid. Unless they somehow transmit power back to the grid or transmits power to another point in the grid, they are end points.

The cybertruck has sentry mode. These chargers were burned in the middle of the night when nobody with a tesla was there. Also sentry mode is only active when you walk away and the car locks. Not always the case at a supercharger

OnlyfansNepaliModel 2025-03-04 14:28

May be it burned down because of other incompetence that is prevalent in Tesla these days.

nevetsyad 2025-03-04 15:23

Hot damn, Tesla says 48 hours or less and they'll have it replaced and back up! EA be like - "under repair" for the next 9 months.

ErB17 2025-03-04 15:23

"vote better" Or, just don't throw a huge hissy fit and destroy things that are produced by the company of a person you don't agree with, especially private property. The world is still turning, and it will continue turning 4, 8, 12 years from now. I really don't understand Americans.

Dr_Pippin 2025-03-04 15:33

You still having your rolling 1 hour recording if you're in the car.

spitzer1113 2025-03-04 15:52

Exactly! People are way too obsessed with politicians and other celebrities. It's good to be aware of things that are happening in the world, but people need to turn off the TV and go live their lives to the best of their ability.

Odd-Pie9123 2025-03-04 17:05

That's legit if they get it up this fast. Genuinely curious, but do you have a source on that? I remember reading about a site in Texas that had all the cables cut, and Tesla had it back up in less than a week. Impressive!

greyscales 2025-03-05 15:58

Car charging stations aren't infrastructure in the sense of the law. If they burned a substation, that would be terrorism.

greyscales 2025-03-05 15:59

Why? Pretty much all latest chargers have the dispenser separated from the transformers.

mistsoalar 2025-03-05 16:24

[deleted] 2025-03-05 16:32

Harsher punishments, especially mandatory minimums, have been proven to have [little to no effect as crime deterrence](https://www.unsw.edu.au/newsroom/news/2020/07/do-harsher-punishments-deter-crime). I just linked to a single article on what is a very complicated and broad topic, but this has been reinforced repeatedly with decades of research into the subject. Just as an example: the person who did this probably has no idea what the punishment is if they were to be caught. Why would they change their mind whether it is 3 years or 6 or 9 if nobody knows what it is? Even judges don't know what sentencing will look like until they factor in everything about the specific individual being sentenced.

StarWarder 2025-03-07 03:20

While polarization within each party is indeed growing. I think it’s important to remember that still only 6-9% of American adults identify as “very liberal” or “progressive” and represents a minority in the Democratic Party. What I can say, is that Dems absolutely kowtow to this ideology. I think it led to our ruin in the last election. And I’m not just talking about Kamala. I think her actual beliefs are pretty moderate. But she was unfortunately the face of the entire left side of the spectrum, particularly because she refused to denounce it. I do think Dem/liberal societal Institutions have absolutely gone off the rails. Research/higher education/health/media. These are truly fucked

Winkofgibbs 2025-03-07 05:26

🤪

Winkofgibbs 2025-03-07 05:28

Yes because the people who we don’t know that did this (assuming it was arson) are definitely “leftists” because trust me bro.

[deleted] 2025-03-07 05:36

Yes it is. It is charging infrastructure.

[deleted] 2025-03-07 05:37

False. Terrorism is the application of violence on civilians and civil society. An attack on charging infrastructure disrupts society creating fear we can operate normally. Terrorists attack power grids for that reason. Superchargers are part of the grid. These attackers are trying to strike fear into EV and Tesla owners. That is also a mob and cartel terrorism attack- make the community afraid of using a service. Lol? How infantile. No one is laughing except the perpetrators of these attacks.

Sly_Hotdog 2025-03-07 06:39

But is the fire ok?

[deleted] 2025-03-07 11:26

This man will take the company and brand down with him.

Flavoade 2025-03-07 16:49

Hope no one making a long distance trip gets stranded because they torched the charging station you had mapped out. I know they have non tesla chargers around , but that still sucks depending on some parts of the country they may be a good distance if you are low. If anyone encounters this just remember most car dealerships have chargers installed now if you get in a bind. You’re gonna pay more though and they are slower.

In what way does spending money to repair something you already had increase your sales?

Phaedrus0230 2025-03-10 15:08

You're upset at the people in charge. I'm upset at your peers behaving this way. There are not random people being incited to take those actions. You know who to watch. The most important takeaway here is that democracy only works when people who disagree can have construction conversations to hopefully change viewpoints. If the people who disagree with me are throwing molotov cocktails, then I have no interest in their opinions and simply want to see them in jail.

Advanced-Average7822 2025-03-11 00:27

There are 75 million democrats who are \*not\* committing arson and maybe 20 who are. 2,500 people entered the capital on J6, so you don't have a point.

I agree, the people doing the actual domestic terrorism are just a few wackjobs... What has me seeing red is how many leftist are saying things like "it is fun to watch" or "this is just like the Boston tea party" or justifying it and downplaying it. I saw a video of Adam Conover and he made a comment about how fun it is to watch... It is political and one side is showing their true colors.

Austinswill 2025-03-20 13:48

Wow is right... Way to demonstrate the feeble mind of leftist. Way to go!

“Way too many” how many is that, exactly? We live in a media ecosystem where outrage and violence goes viral, whereas polite society gets none of the attention. The silent majority does not condone the actions of a tiny loud minority.
