The title is unclear about it, but Wawa is converting eight gas pumps at their gas station and turning them over to Tesla to become Superchargers. I suspect this is a case of "We need pull through chargers for people towing" with a hint of "What would it look like if we have to convert a gas pump to a Supercharger?" So, likely a blend of objectives here. Wawa being forward thinking about their business' future, and filling a need.
And I thought WaWa was just a northeast thing. I’ve wondered when this would start happening.
There are a lot of WaWa superchargers and they always are the cheapest compared to other locations. I see .22 and .26 superchargers when other locations a mile away are charging .41.
This isn't the first time a gas station has been converted to chargers. There was a place in [Spain that converted an old Shell station into a Supercharger](https://www.notateslaapp.com/news/2480/tesla-transforms-old-gas-station-into-supercharger) This is the first time I'm aware of it happening where the gas station isn't dying and this is a hail mary. Wawa's been using Florida has the launch pad for a lot of their Supercharger stuff. This'll be an interesting thing once they're done, but I'm almost positive it's to help people towing.
I've always hoped that Wawa would deploy solar to the canopies of their gas pumps. I could see that lowering costs a bit, but I doubt it's cost effective in the long run.

You say that, however, it's going to introduce some traffic flow concerns, as well as confusion for folks who own ICE vehicles. It's obvious what it'll *look* like, however, you still need to go through the motions to understand what the retrofit costs and concerns are, in addition to maintenance fees and what not. "looks like" is doing a lot of high concept heavy lifting.
This is an example of good PR, I’ve heard this, believed this but checked every Wawa via satellite and not a single one has solar in Orlando. I would have bet the farm and lost.

That's an oddly specific example. This is less about Wawa putting in Superchargers, and more about how they're going to rip out eight gas pumps and replace them with Superchargers. so, instead of putting us off to the side of the building, now the chargers are under the canopy, with the pumps.
I like the food and refreshments at Wawas but the bathrooms are frequently old, dirty and smell like a truck stop.
100% they need bigger bathrooms that are better maintained. I have a medical condition that requires I use the stall, and there's always someone dropping a deuce in there forcing me to wait.
Oh yeah I saw. I was just pointing out Wawa has had Tesla chargers for a while now. After seeing this thread I didn’t realize that people didn’t know that.

You're absolutely right. As an IT worker I know what the changes I'm going to commit to an infrastructure look like What I cannot account for is the sheer stupidity of how people are going to react to the changes I'm making, and in some cases, while the change I'm rolling out is a net positive to the organization I work for, the change ends up having to be rolled back because people are just too stupid to adapt to change. I'm not talking about "Well, we just paint a white arrow on the road, and we should be fine", but rather the sheer stupidity that some people are going to drive up to these Tesla Superchargers with their ICE vehicles thinking that they're gas pumps, then go inside to bitch about the new Tesla gas pump not fitting into their cars, resulting in weird traffic flows from people having to relocate their cars because they don't know the difference between a car charger and a gas pump. I was simply trying to be polite about how I was phrasing that. But no, apparently people are going to be splitting hairs and such.
This is a great analogy, in many ways. The person to whom you were responding earlier seems rather unaware of the difference between “theory” and “reality”.
It's relatable to *every* industry. Look at highways. They're not a hard concept to work with, there's an on ramp and an off ramp, and civil engineers go through a shit ton of time to plan the flow of traffic on the off ramp to make things work smoothly. The one day, some absolute moronic driver turns at the wrong spot, ends up driving down the wrong side of the highway, and instead of going "Oops" and turning around, keeps on driving down the wrong side of the highway. So, you take that back to the team and go "Hey, guys, how did this happen?" and you come up with big reflective "DO NOT ENTER!" and "WRONG WAY!" signs. By all accounts, this should help smooth things over, but then an even bigger moron does the *exact* same thing, and you're like "WTF?" Suffice to say, Murphy's Laws don't exist for fun. "No plan survives contact with the enemy" holds true in every industry, not just because of antagonistic people who wish to do harm, but because [people are just *stupid*](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WPMMNvYTEyI).

It's much harder to run simulations on a completely novel situation. Normally superchargers are placed far away from gas pumps so you wouldn't have any data about the interaction between the two types of fuel and drivers
Satellite on google maps? It’s possible that some stations have solar but their images online haven’t been updated yet. It also sounds like it was mostly (or only, idk) in New Jersey

Buc-ee's FTW! HUGE bathrooms, always clean because they have staff cleaning them non-stop.
I’m more familiar with the north East, but two road trips in my model 3 from New York to Florida last year, I learned once you get past Savannah GA, it’s straight Wawa super chargers till Miami lol
Buc-ee's has a traffic problem. The only time I'll stop at a Buc-ee's is after hours, otherwise I avoid them. The one in St. Augustine, for example, the chargers are at the rear of the building. If it takes 15-20 minute for the car to charge, I can often end up losing time when I go into the building to take a leak, which given my medical condition, is *every* stop I make. When I road trip, I'm *literally* the person who sits there and times how long it takes to get from the car to the building, to the bathroom, and back again. Anywhere I stop and it takes long than 5-7 minutes to take a leak, I hate stopping there. I 100% recognize that it is a "me" problem, but I don't want me entire 15-20 minute supercharging stop to be consumed by walking to and from a bathroom, or waiting on people in a bathroom, heaven forbid I want to buy something and now I have to decide whether it's more efficient to buy something and use the bathroom when done, or to use the bathroom and buy something. Main reason why I'd *love* Tesla to partner with convenience stores that have chargers to build in an ordering system so that your shit is ready when you get there to charge. Let's me focus less on puttering around in the store, and more about just using the damn bathroom.

Well, wawa in winter garden already has one. But the traffic to get there takes 40 mins to go 12 miles, sadly. It's not a big deal for me. I just know people who live in apartments and can't charge at home.

Wawas generally have an excellent setup for their mixed stations in SoFLo.
Kind of disappointing that’s the wawa they’re choosing, pretty sure it’s one of the few which isn’t 24 hours… love going to chargers late at night when no one’s there and chargings cheap. Not gonna be able to go in and get a snack/use the bathroom. Oh well…
Might be an expirement to see if having more chargers means more business to keep it open 24 hours
