I know Europe is a lot more strict, but it’d still be nice for our European brothers and sisters to be able to use their car to the fullest extent. Fingers crossed.

I would expect that this would be a different version of FSD optimized for the specific road rules and road signs used in that country.

Gotta get them laws updated. I think Tesla is starting in the Netherlands for testing, then it'll expand out from there. EU is an interesting regulatory body for how things work.

No, should end up being the same one. I'm not aware of any significant road rule changes in Mexico compared to the United States and Canada.

Yeah, even just replacing the legacy Autosteer code with “FSD” only available on highways would be a huge improvement

Dunno why I’m being downvoted here, look to the recent UNECE meetings on this - it’s not happening, there will be no city streets this year. We’ll maybe get a bit of tinkering with what we’ve already got at best (assuming Tesla are willing to which, given their unwillingness to date to do the level 3 that they could do, is debatable)

Need a supercharger in Camargo and one in Torreon (at least that one is planned) to be able to make our main family road trip feasible. 45D is long and straight and boring and the exact stretch of road where I want fsd doing my dirty work.

FSD 13.2.2 drove me between two major cities, door to door with no interventions. I just got 13.2.7 and this is the first time when I didn’t feel the need to fix a deficiency in the version I had. With the compute and data advantage they have, Tesla is making hockey stick progress.

Ultimately ending up with one of them detained by cartel members.

It's essentially that the EU wants (tons of) data proving it works on European roads, but won't allow them to actually run more than a few vehicles to collect that data.

I'm guessing it's geo-fenced to the big cities ? I can already imagine FSD flying down the cobblestone paths (calling them "roads" is generous) in our pueblito😭😆

That is what I was thinking. I spent 6 months in Huetamo, Michoacán and did a little driving there. I don't think most Americans could drive through some of those areas. I sure don't want to do it again. I have no idea what FSD will do, but I seriously doubt it is capable over in those areas. btw, not working in every single area is just fine. Several areas aren't really built for vehicles to go through, even when there is technically a road there.

Yeah no lol last thing I would ever do is attempt to use FSD in TJ. I’m in San Diego/travel to TJ often and the way people drive there is far different from here in the US. You’d be having a hard time stressing about what the car will do next since driving habits in TJ are so unpredictable.

FSD not available in Europe is the thing that makes Europeans think that Tesla cars are the same as those VW trash.

Idk V13 sometimes hangs to the right side of the lane I’m in on the freeway. I hope they fix that so it stays more centered.

Sounds like they deployed it to Mexico to get more data on adversarial driving then. Ashok has mentioned in the past that getting FSD to drive properly in India is their stretch goal/boss mode villain.

Nevermind FSD beta, robotaxis or Level 5 full autonomous driving for that matter. How about getting *anything* at all for the thousands of euros that we paid half a decade ago? That would be a good start. Actually, stoplight detection is part of the FSD package, so I guess that's *technically* something.

I could turn on FSD in my gravel driveway without an issue several years ago. It detects the road and follows it. I haven’t heard about them since disabling that. If people don’t like how it drives on those cobblestone paths, that’s valuable data for Tesla and they can adjust how FSD handles them.

It's crazy they've been selling FSD this whole time in here in the Mexico market and not letting us know that it wasn't even available in the country at all! I took delivery of a Model X in december and got 3 months of free FSD and wondered why it never gave me the option to enable it.

I’m on 13.2.6. It weird that people say it’s good. It’s worse on the highway for basic things like lane choice and speed which is the most importing thing on a highway. It’s much worse that 12.3.6 or 12.5.4 on highways.

It will probably do it much better than people. I have spent a lot of time driving in Mexico and have gone thru some wild roundabouts. People mess them up as well.

They get data at all times. They dont need FSD enabled to get data.

Yes and no. Tesla is able to send a command to the fleet that says "Send me video clips of things/stuff that looks like X", then the car sends that back to the Mothership. Tesla can also run FSD on top of driver's manual driving, getting feedback/confirmations in regards to what the driver did versus what FSD *would have* done in the same position. What FSD can't get is data in relation to what makes someone take control of the car. For example, maybe FSD thought it had enough time to cross an intersection, however, you felt it could/should have just waited for one more car to pass, so you disengage and send feedback saying "If it waited 10 more seconds, there's a more preferred opportunity to cross.", things of *that* nature Tesla's not getting data on unless you actually use it. Tesla does seem to love the audio clips that they use for feedback because they increased it from 10 to 15 seconds in length. Point is that you can confirm FSD "works", but you can't confirm whether or not it works "comfortably" until people use it regularly and send feedback.

They haven't started testing yet. I probably got the country wrong, hang on. [This article covers it a little bit](https://www.teslarati.com/elon-musk-discusses-tesla-fsd-challenges-china-europe/). It was mentioned on the Q4 2024 earnings call. I guess the plan, on paper, is for testing in the Netherlands (Which hasn't begun yet), and then as testing progresses Netherlands will champion it to the European Union, and then it might see wider release. But the Netherlands appears to be Tesla's "gateway" for FSD in the EU via their regulatory process.

Which is exactly why VW and Mercedes have the EU autonomous vehicle policy makers in their pocket.

The problem is that the current regulations in Europe require that all maneuvers performed by the system be manually initiated by the driver. The latest FSD architecture is an end-to-end neural network, so they can't strictly control what it does. They'd have to release a modified version of FSD V11 to comply, or the regulations would need to change (and it sounds like that's what they're seeking).

The toll roads are safe. I interviewed a guy who drives between Ontario and Puerto Vallarta.

EU will have to change that. Autonomous will never happen if thats the case. I think they are working on it.

I had the same experience on v12.6.3 for the first time. I had to press on the accelerator a couple of times and work the turn signal stalk once (maybe twice) but that was it. I was very impressed. It's done it once out of about 10 drives on v12.6.3, so it's definitely getting close.

Maybe that is specific to you, my 13.2 is way way better than 12.5. the chance of missing exit is much smaller now

Good news but from a finical perspective they desperately need to have it launch in China where they are starting to get mauled.

Lucky. Mine can't even get me out of my neighborhood in downtown Kansas City without breaking traffic laws. It also can't fully get me home since Google Maps tells it to take a hard right turn that is impossible if a car is in the other lane. I wish we could put in custom directions so I could have it go an easier way to and from my house.

Good luck with the topes (speed bumps). Speed limit is a suggestion here, and only way to slow people down is speed bump. Source, I have residency down here with Model 3. If i dont baby some "tope", ill scrape or bang the battery.
