Do cars like these applicable Kias even precondition properly for tesla superchargers?
I know the EV6 will (once the superchargers get added to the GPS). Not sure about the lower end models. Even preconditioned though, the EV6 will only charge at around 100kW since they are 800V cars and have to step the 400V provided up
It’s just me or I’m not in favor to let other manufacturers come use Tesla superchargers, it should remain for us
I’m fine as long as they build more.
Every bit helps the network grow
Better than the bolt which caps at a max of 56 kw. Those things are so slow.
What about at future V4 cabinets?
This also helps increase EV adoption.
Might not because it might overcrowd the chargers from the one brand where people had a good experience.
Well at least you have Tesla as a system of last resort. I’m hoping to get the adapter to use for any other future nacs chargers. Like ionna and if/when Costco gets into the ev charging game.
At this rate, tesla should double the chargers in 2025.
EV6 will be able to be able to max out at 235kW on a v4 cabinet. And has a pretty flat charge curve between 10 and 80%
They said Q1. That’s still Q1.
If you watch the out of spec video they did on this, even with the voltage converter they have to run, and lower peak charge rate the egmp car still performs pretty well, comparable to a tesla. At least they won't hog a charging spot. It'd be nice if tesla spent some attention on their charging curves.
Tesla has lots of chargers that aren’t busy. They want to make more money from those chargers, which will mean more money to spend on new chargers as well.
Based on the out of spec tests, it will hold a flat \~100KW for most of the curve and ends up being faster charging than a Model 3 or Y from 10-80%, pretty wild.
That’s a horrible, self centered, way of looking at it. Would you like to only fuel up at Ford gas stations? More people using the network means more investment into it. A better network means more people buying EV, meaning more potential for third parties to also jump in building networks. I want more chargers that everyone can use everywhere. I don’t want to have to think of which network gets me here or there. Just as I don’t think of the GM network, or Ford network, or Honda network. That doesn’t mean that I don’t have preferences. Preferring Shell over Chevron, or something. Yes, I prefer Tesla Supercharger over other brands, but you know what I like more? Not having range anxiety because the one leg in my trip has brand X instead of brand Y.
Horrible take. Tesla letting others use supercharger increases EV adoption. The biggest pain point people have with EVs is charging. Make that easier and we accelerate towards 100% EV adoption, which brings more research into battery and charging tech and one day charging will be very fast and convenient
But that seems plenty fast. Don’t you get like over 150 mi from an hour of charging?
At least where I live the superchargers are all over the place (Silicon Valley) so I don’t personally care since I home charge almost every time
Oh boo hoo.
That's very slow by today's standards.
Tesla better get their SUV together or people gonna get EV9s instead
What other companies get access? Is there a list?
They have been building more. Never seen a Tesla at one of them tho
Literally Google it and find out
Why even comment, dude?
Because it is so easy for you to figure out your question, that I had to point it out Why even ask instead of googling?
You know what they say… if you have nothing nice to say, you should STFU. :)
That’s extremely slow unless that’s a home charger (it’s not)
Is the charger on the "correct" side of the vehicle?
You are making my headache worse lmao. Letting EVs with the wrong charger placement use V3 stalls is an obvious mistake. If i see bolt take up two stalls im getting a cybertruck to flatten it
Apparently it's only the 2025 ev6 model that has the left side rear charge location. The others are either front center or back right it seems.
You are more optimistic than I. Supercharger congestion is up, and de novo superchargers seems down from previous network development. (Edit: Looking at Supercharger station volumes in the last quarterly investor deck, 2024 was the smallest percent growth in supercharger station in the last 5 years, at 17% YoY growth. Station growth is down, despite additional cars being added to the network.)
I think Tesla is trying to get out of the Supercharger deployment game, and into the supply side of things. That said, with thr North American industry choosing NACS over CCS, ANYONE deploying chargers now will be deploying a Tesla capable charger. Reliability might come into question, but it'll even things out. Give it time
Better yet it’ll hog two charging spots.
Yep, left-charging cars take “two spots” from right-charging cars and vice versa.
Superchargers go from 5-80 in 30 min flat on the 3 and Y. 150mi an hour is terrible
So about March… 🤔
