Looks like the park meadows?

Yeah saw these at a similar display in my city, I took a closer look at the cab. Man the interior was *shit*. Low rent materials and I could see how poorly put together it was without looking too close. Color looked cool though. I just wish Tesla made nicer cars, even my MX feels pretty mid-range on the inside

Tell me why both of these aren't 10 years away from working as promised. Seriously, am I wrong?

Life_Connection420 2025-01-23 16:46

It might be ready in 10 years

soulsniperyt 2025-01-23 17:31

Yup!

"Working" is a big ol spectrum of functionality. The ultimate goal of FSD being a universal driverless system that customers can access directly in their own vehicles I think is years away. But FSD's open-world performance in the last 8 months has convinced me that a geofenced FSD system could work in the near term if they focus on training heavily for a specific domain and provide a remote operator fall-back system. Similarly, Optimus won't have to be perfect to be useful. In many ways, its barrier to entry could be much lower, given it doesn't weigh thousands of pounds and operate at high speed. Even if it starts by just learning to load and unload a dishwasher - that will get some buyers' attention and confidence that it could expand from there.

The robotaxi is so fire

Neat 👍

I think we tend to forget that Optimus was only announced as an idea back in 2021 and was just a guy wearing a suit. Now 3 years later they appear to have robots that can be remotely controlled by mocap. Now there’s all this backlash saying that’s dumb but if you think about it, mocap is a great way to train robots to move in a human like way. It’s also no small feat to make a robot that can be remotely controlled and streamed into. With the way AI is advancing I can definitely see these being available or at piloted within the next 10 years

spacebarstool 2025-01-23 23:21

Right. 10 years away. I asked about the taxi and the Optimus being available sooner than 10 years.

Those seats look incredibly uncomfortable/cheap

soulsniperyt 2025-01-23 23:36

Yeah, I hope they'll upgrade from the actual showcase model

The same people who think these are going to be out in a couple of years are also convinced Elon was just "sending his heart out to the crowd". Cognitive dissonance is a powerful thing.

Agreeable_Camp819 2025-01-24 04:04

Solid !

Potential-Grass6941 2025-01-24 20:02

Neat 👏

its actually even more ugly in real life IMO.

soulsniperyt 2025-02-04 03:21

Eh, I love all Tesla's designs... Except that one. It's not the worst, just a bit lacking.
