These are actually V4 dispensers with V3 cabinets - so more like V3.5 as Tesla refers to them.

TSF_ReVo 2025-01-03 17:48

Oh wow I didn’t know that. Do you know if they are faster than V3 or is it only a better dispenser?

Nicnl 2025-01-03 17:50

iirc the v3 cabinet can only do 400v charging Meaning that EVs with 800v battery pack won't get the better charging speed Those cabinet can do 250kw at 400v

TheBowerbird 2025-01-03 17:51

Not faster, but better dispenser with the longer cables. "V4 ready". Here's a thread on it. Basically no true V4 sites exist yet, with Tesla just stating, "2025" for the first full install. At least in the US they're observed to dispense only at V3 speeds, but the longer charge cable is a nice benefit for all EV's. I think there's a small screen on one side which enables limited interactivity and tap to pay? I'm happy to see tap to pay be an option on the new chargers, whatever makes EV newbs journeys easier is a positive in my book.

Some in the US are capable of putting out 325kW to cybertruck so they apparently handle higher amperages.

TSF_ReVo 2025-01-03 19:08

Oh yeah I saw the screen while leaving but was in a bit of a hurry so I didn’t take a closer look. Tomorrow I’ll check and see if theres a tap to pay option.

I saw a lot of those on the way from Spain to Germany.

What are the requirements for Tesla to receive funds for the SCs? I've read in other countries they have to provide free charging for up to 5 years. I visited one of these countries and even after 2 years the SC was still free, so it might be true.

From a professional standpoint, I really love that little "co-funded by the EU" logo. It got to be one of the best use of marketing money ever. Essentially for free, it's a super clear way to message what your tax money is being used for.

Rip_Topper 2025-01-03 22:01

Hey for our $5 billion in the US we got 7 chargers as of June 5 (Reuters)

Perkelton 2025-01-03 22:24

It's not impossible that Tesla has received even further grants, but assuming it's part of the EV charging directive, the requirements are typically the following for super fast chargers (at least last I checked; it might have changed since then): * Located along the TEN-T roads (i.e. the Euro highways). * At least 150 kW per stall. * At least 400 kW per location (600 kW by 2027) * Open to all EVs without subscriptions. * Card payment terminal. * Powered by renewable energy. * Provide public real-time data about availability, wait times and pricing. * Follow EU charging standards, e.g. CCS2, P&C, e.t.c.

Yep! It's in the post I linked elsewhere in this thread. Quite a bit less janky looking. You can see it here: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z7PsJWApdeU&t=1s](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z7PsJWApdeU&t=1s)

TheBowerbird 2025-01-03 22:53

For very short periods of time.

Vonplinkplonk 2025-01-03 23:52

V3 is still a very effective charger

omnibossk 2025-01-04 09:34

Do they have alternative payment solutions? For other EV brands?

EddiewithHeartofGold 2025-01-04 12:29

Yes. It's mandatory.

braincrowd 2025-01-04 12:58

Thats wrong its Chargers in 7 states not 7 total chargers

Swastik496 2025-01-04 14:36

lol you feel for propaganda. The chargers are under construction. Look at the NEVI progress in each state

ScottECH93 2025-01-04 14:47

Uh technically they are capable of up to 325kW to Cybertruck by putting 900amp depending on the site. But other vehicles are limited to V3 speeds.

No-Nothing-1885 2025-01-04 15:44

I liked old design better, clearly recognizable from afar. In Europe different chargers form many other brands are oftentimes on the same spot. Many diffrent form factors and colors: Green, white, blue, some big af, some smøl ect Current Tesla's are different and characteristic to spot them without a mistake. New one look generic

footpole 2025-01-04 20:49

Not in Spain as you can’t pull 900A over CCS2, 800V should be how to get higher power.

omnibossk 2025-01-04 23:27

Thanks, I guess it’s credit card then?

iqisoverrated 2025-01-05 18:50

Spotted some in germany, too. V3 stalls were replaced with v4 at the Leonberg supercharger - but the backend seems to be the same as before.

KevinDohertyy 2025-01-10 00:52

I’m in California and live by a bunch of these lol

Trantorianus 2025-03-19 21:48

"Co-Funded by the EU" !? WTF?
