This whole article is reporting a 2-word tweet by Elon. He replied to someone speculating about v13 with the words "Coming soon"

Aeronzz 2024-11-24 16:23

Elon Musk: trust me bro

qwerty1_045318 2024-11-24 16:26

… for AI4 vehicles, AI3 vehicles are screwed for a few more months at a minimum, if not indefinitely…but hey, they say we will get an upgrade for free if it’s needed, so we shall see… In the meantime, 12.5.4.2 is terrible and virtually unusable from a safety standpoint. It’s a massive regression from the 12.3 days, with the only real improvement being the hands free attention awareness…. I have more disengagements now then I did on it and I am going on the exact same route 5 days a week to use as a comparison… my 12.5.4.2 is even struggling to handle 4 way stops correctly, especially if there are flashing red lights or two lanes of traffic on any of the four sides

I think we can assume the poster js just pumping the website. And we all know what “soon” means when Musk says it.

What's special about 13? Agi?

CycleOfLove 2024-11-24 16:29

HW4 is working really well in the latest release. Crossing the finger it could be unsupervised soon so I can nap on the highway!

PCdownloadkeys 2024-11-24 16:34

I'm starting to wonder if I should just stop checking this sub and just follow Tesla and musk on Twitter. Feels more efficient idk, but musk tweets a lot of irrelevant stuff too so I'm conflicted 😕

nobodydeservesme 2024-11-24 16:37

Yeah, maybe if they release v.36 it will be ready for 95%

zemaker 2024-11-24 16:39

Have to agree 12.3 seems to have been a sweet spot.

Ice_Burn 2024-11-24 16:45

I just drove from Santa Barbara to San Diego on 12.5.6.3 which is the first with end to end on highways. I found it to be a significant improvement in particular with lane changes and lane change decisions.

Will take full advantage of HW4. Currently, HW4 cars are running a model trained on HW3 clips. V13 will be trained fully on HW4 video and will take full advantage of the higher resolution cameras and much more processing power. v13 is a package of following major technology upgrades: 36 Hz, full-resolution AI4 video inputs Native AI4 inputs and neural network architectures 3x model size scaling 3x model context length scaling 4.2x data scaling 5x training compute scaling (enabled by the Cortex training cluster) Much improved reward predictions for collision avoidance, following traffic controls, navigation, etc. Efficient representation of maps and navigation inputs Audio inputs for better handling of emergency vehicles Redesigned controller for smoother, more accurate tracking Integrated unpark, reverse, and park capabilities Support for destination options including pulling over, parking in a spot, driveway, or garage Improved camera cleaning and handling of camera occlusions

dubie4x8 2024-11-24 16:58

I mean obviously it’s coming soon lol. Is this an AI bot post?

PeterZMA 2024-11-24 16:58

Soon AKA many years, 😄

qwerty1_045318 2024-11-24 16:59

But isn’t this only going out to ai4?

Ice_Burn 2024-11-24 17:03

Yes. So far anyway. I believe that AI3 people will get it eventually. I think that v13.x will be the one that will truly diverge because it will make full use of the higher resolution cameras.

endfossilfuel 2024-11-24 17:17

The unreliability and handsfree together is just an awesome combo lol

qwerty1_045318 2024-11-24 17:37

lol

TheBurtReynold 2024-11-24 17:40

Just follow Teslascope and save yourself the insanity

philupandgo 2024-11-24 19:25

Not all in v13.0, maybe by v13.3.6.

Freds_Premium 2024-11-24 20:38

What version number will be unsupervised?

Quin1617 2024-11-24 21:58

No idea. Not even Tesla and the FSD team knows because it solely depends on regulators, even once it’s actually ready. Elon said 2025, so it for sure won’t be 13.0.

[deleted] 2024-11-24 22:18

To a HW4 car near you...

THATS_LEGIT_BRO 2024-11-25 00:28

V13.69.420

shadrap 2024-11-25 00:51

Elon tweeted over 400 times in the past 24 hours. I'm not going to sift through them all, but let's just say that FSD doesn't seem to be at the forefront of his mind these days.

PCdownloadkeys 2024-11-25 02:27

Right?! I think I'll just follow Tesla and some related pages like Tesla AI and call it a day

spatel14 2024-11-26 01:28

Yeah I predict end to end highway will be the last update for HW3 but I hope I’m wrong

VideoGameJumanji 2024-11-27 18:23

so 4 months from now gotcha

VideoGameJumanji 2024-11-27 18:24

\*in 3-4 months

Naturebrah 2024-12-01 13:45

Wasn’t that claim just Elon tweeting? Are we going to hang onto that after all he’s lied about? I’ll be amazed if they do this..and even if so, I bet they wait until as long as possible and if you purchased the car new from factory…but it’ll be after 10 years so majority of people have got a new car by then.

qwerty1_045318 2024-12-01 14:07

I could be mistaken, but I think this was confirmed by others within Tesla, like Ashook

Naturebrah 2024-12-01 18:52

Yeah, there’s validity to it, but it doesn’t seem reasonably close because there’d be so, so many cars to retrofit

qwerty1_045318 2024-12-02 15:41

But retrofitting the cars increases their profit potential… there are way more folks willing to subscribe to FSD or even purchase it outright once their current car gets that ability (real FSD not the current version) than people willing or able to turn around and buy a new car outright. Honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised to see them figure out a way to send some sort of external hard drive that plugs in where the current thumb drive does that enables the functionality that way then a software update makes it all work, and they then offer two options, one where they offer the software for the external hdd to enable everything to work be downloadable for free, and another option where you can purchase one from them with the software already installed and just plug and play. At the end of the day, the single biggest issue appears to be available memory and processing power, both of which can be fixed for relatively cheap… If it was needing something more, like additional cameras or higher resolution cameras, or ir cameras (which I think will be needed and added to future models) then it would be harder to do, but this shouldn’t be as difficult as some make it out to be, it’s just a matter of them opening that path which would also allow for other things they don’t want done with the car to be able to happen (easier jailbreaking of the software)
