Also looks like they'll get free charging for the day to celebrate.

ElGuano 2024-11-05 12:50

First it was Ford and GM and Rivian, now we’re gonna have all the Swedes coming over to hog the superchargers, too!

Mateking 2024-11-05 12:56

Wait till you learn that this is already a thing in Germany since July

ElGuano 2024-11-05 12:57

Aggjh! We must secure the borders, now!

Etrinjx-Void 2024-11-05 12:59

... Don't they all use CCS2 over there though? Like i figured it would've been like an implicit magic dock or something

[deleted] 2024-11-05 13:01

This have been a thing I Europe for about a year, in Norway even longer

Direct-Eggplant8111 2024-11-05 13:02

I charged a Fiat at superchargers in Denmark in July 2023, just unlock charger in the Tesla app. V4 superchargers have credit card readers. Why Sweden didn’t have that, no idea.

Appropriate-Ad-8155 2024-11-05 13:07

Such added value for Tesla owners!

095179005 2024-11-05 13:32

Just because it's the same plug, doesn't stop them from controlling their private network how they want. Whitelists and blacklists are a thing.

More revenue, more and bigger supercharger locations. Big win for Tesla owners

IolausTelcontar 2024-11-05 15:54

More supercharger locations is a huge win.

For years in Norway ¯\\\_(ツ)_/¯

cesar527 2024-11-05 16:42

Okay Tesla. Now we need more superchargers in the highways. I often skip Tesla SC because I have to leave the highway and drive 3-4km, disappointing if you traveling hundreds of kilometers

coveredcallnomad100 2024-11-05 17:05

hows that sweden tesla strike going

drnicko18 2024-11-05 17:31

I’m a bit torn over Tesla opening up the supercharger network. I would have thought it was a great reason to buy a Tesla to have access to the best charger network, and now it’s lost that advantage in chase of supercharging revenue - and Tesla users have to put up with 3rd party cars parking at stupid angles and also filling up parking spots. Other car companies should be working on expanding quality superchargers for everyone too.

stinkybumbum 2024-11-05 17:51

Once this comes to uk I’m selling my Tesla in a heartbeat

accebyk 2024-11-05 18:05

Swedes have been able to charge at tesla superchargers with any car for quite a while now (around 2 years if I recall correctly). The change is that all chargers are now open. There were a select few locations that weren’t open before today (like 5 locations), but now they are open as well. That is the change that made these news. However, this won’t have that big of an effect for EVs in Sweden as there are so many chargers everywhere now. However, the more merrier of course!

Tin0men 2024-11-05 18:25

We did, but a few locations weren't open to other brands until now.

Ah, they mean that the ENTIRE Supercharger network is open in Sweden. I was confused at first, since most superchargers have been open to other EVs for years in Sweden, but now they're apparently opening up the rest of them too.

095179005 2024-11-05 19:35

I think it's location dependent. I haven't had to wait at any superchargers - yet.

drnicko18 2024-11-05 19:50

Generally it has been fine, though my country has an EV target of 50% of cars by 2030, and other car companies need to invest in charging infrastructure if it isn't going to be a shitfight by then.

DavidBowieBoy 2024-11-05 19:57

I don’t get why Tesla allows it. I am sure they make some money on it, but I think they could make more by selling more teslas because of exclusive charging.

tobimai 2024-11-05 20:04

Superchargers also use CCS2

RestComfortable500 2024-11-05 20:05

Snowflake ❄️

RestComfortable500 2024-11-05 20:06

They had to. They received tons of money from EU to built SuC network provided it has to be open to other EVs.

I’m good 💩

Significant-Part-767 2024-11-05 21:01

Charging in France with the Fiat 500E on all (I tried 5) were without problems. SuC network rocks in Europe! Literally you can drive through Europe just using the Tesla SuC network! The monthly fee of nearly 10€ is worth buying for other EV to reduce the kWh price by 12-16ct.

stinkybumbum 2024-11-05 21:09

Wow ok mate 😂. Calling someone a knob because they have an opinion, classic. Maybe I am a knob that bought a Tesla and didn’t like it? Or one that got sick and tired of bullshit advertising ? Or one where I want a car that is safe to drive, or even one where it’s more comfortable and has better range……but no you don’t want to be associated with someone that is open to other products that could possibly suit them more. Fyg I love my m3, but like I said if they opened up the network, I’d happily sell it for a better car.

Matt_NZ 2024-11-05 22:05

I’m wondering if we’ll ever see non-Tesla EVs in Europe and Oceania ever receiving the same Supercharger plug-and-charge experience that non-Tesla’s are getting at Superchargers in the US through the NACS deals?

bjelkeman 2024-11-05 22:12

Yeah. I travelled 12 hours to Norway through Sweden and then back a few weeks ago. No charging location was more than 1/4 occupied and only single cars that were not Teslas. There is essentially plenty of space for all, except for during public holidays. So don’t travel in Xmas day. :)

[deleted] 2024-11-05 22:15

There is not much newsworthy here. Tesla opened most of their superchargers to other cars in several European countries in the summer of 2022, more than 2 years ago. But they left out a few supercharger stations in each country, probably because those station were already capacity challenged. As an example, Denmark has 26 Tesla supercharger stations, of which 25 stations are open to other cars. The only news here is that Sweden have now opened all their supercharger stations instead of just *almost* all.

TheCoStudent 2024-11-05 22:44

Might be too expensive to build right next to it? Cheaper land in the middle of a forest

RealKillering 2024-11-06 12:26

Yeah in the EU everything uses CCS2 for many years. Only first gen Superchargers have the CCS2 and the Tesla Port. Tesla only started opening the chargers I think last year. (Maybe also two years ago in some places). In Germany this a thing at every supercharger, but they actually reserve the right to only open certain chargers. You can actually see open and only Tesla Superchargers on the Map on the Tesla Website.

Guilty-Supermarket38 2024-11-07 02:28

I dont know about Sweden, but here the superchargers are not the best network, maybe just im top10, but not even in the top5

Guilty-Supermarket38 2024-11-07 02:34

I do not know the situation in Sweden but superchargers in my country are not a selling point to Tesla. Locations are not good when compared to bigger and better operators and charging is ususlly a bit expensive and it is quite small networt compared to bigger operators.

sirasbjorn 2024-11-07 03:59

As a $tesla shares holder, I want to use the tesla network, but in New Zealand, only a few non Teslas can use it. :(

iqisoverrated 2024-11-07 09:53

Particularly for shareholders.
