elonmusketeer604 2024-10-22 23:08

RIP Tessie lol

LionTigerWings 2024-10-22 23:10

Rip Watchla as well. I bought it a week ago thinking it would be a nice backup.

ohyonghao 2024-10-22 23:28

Fantastic! Now do Garmin please.

snakeplissken7777 2024-10-22 23:34

Good. If my phone is in my back-pocket I have to take it out or Get my butt closer to the door. 😆

refpuz 2024-10-22 23:44

About damn time. Been hoping for an official one for years.

bartturner 2024-10-22 23:56

Good. I actually purchased one. And I rarely purchase apps

[deleted] 2024-10-23 00:05

“It is unclear when the app will be released, should it move beyond the internal development stage...” Don’t hold your breath, it may be a while.

blergmonkeys 2024-10-23 00:18

All 3 of you can celebrate the day that happens!

Beremus 2024-10-23 00:28

It will still have stats at least but yeah.

nikkonine 2024-10-23 00:28

Samsung Ultra watch just entered the room.

[deleted] 2024-10-23 00:30

What? I always keep my phone in my pocket and I've been fine. I would love a Watch app, though.

waterskier2007 2024-10-23 00:45

Man, I posted this exact link on Monday. Very excited for this.

Intelligent_Top_328 2024-10-23 00:47

So how about is poor android users

snakeplissken7777 2024-10-23 00:48

Front pocket is fine 😆

DJ_TECHSUPPORT 2024-10-23 00:54

Soon.

DoughnutFantastic382 2024-10-23 01:01

Need this asap. Can’t tell you how many times I got locked out because my phone died. The watch app will allow me to unlock the vehicle and recharge my phone when I’m out and about.

iKnowRobbie 2024-10-23 01:04

I, too, suffer from a magnetic personality combined with anal-retention. (Always have to pull the phone out of my back pocket) Looking forward to this!!

iKnowRobbie 2024-10-23 01:05

2, Herb died last night... He was 102, ffs.

iKnowRobbie 2024-10-23 01:05

GO BACK TO THE EDGE OF FUNCTIONALITY AND WAIT UNTIL SOMEONE CALLS YOU!

MafatConspiracy 2024-10-23 01:06

Tessie works great as a key with Galaxy Watch (WearOS)

Jak372 2024-10-23 01:08

Before unsupervised FSD, at least.

[deleted] 2024-10-23 01:28

I would love if it has same phone key function so if you open the car with your right hand it will still open flawlessly when the phone in pocket thing doesn’t work.

IThinkWhiteWomenRHot 2024-10-23 01:29

Huh? Doesn’t the app already do this?

Entartika 2024-10-23 01:30

they should have had this 5 years ago….

B0lill0s 2024-10-23 01:32

Finally, soon it’ll be the chip in the brain, and then the Optimus bot key

THATS_LEGIT_BRO 2024-10-23 01:40

Let’s hope it’s not subscription based.

LoogyHead 2024-10-23 01:42

It really is amazing how much human flesh can interfere with Bluetooth signals

Taylooor 2024-10-23 01:44

And Watchla. Damn app never worked right except for 10% of the time. Always needed credentials to be refreshed which was a PITA. So much potential…

Taylooor 2024-10-23 01:45

I’ve had that app for years and it only ever worked about 1/10th of the time.

VideoGameJumanji 2024-10-23 01:54

Tessie killed itself months ago with the price change

ohyonghao 2024-10-23 02:18

There’s actually dozens of us, but we fired the publicist.

FearTheClown5 2024-10-23 02:31

I would suggest Drive Electric for Tesla. Its a 1 time purchase for $13 and it works as a Bluetooth key or NFC key. Tossing this out there cause it is a subscription free option and it works well.

FearTheClown5 2024-10-23 02:31

I would suggest Drive Electric for Tesla. Its a 1 time purchase for $13 and it works as a Bluetooth key or NFC key. Tossing this out there cause it is a subscription free option and it works well. It does lack the stats but you can get those a number of ways like TeslaMate for free or with s3xy commander and others.

D1sCoL3moNaD3 2024-10-23 02:35

![gif](giphy|jVIEHmsWD0aURxct7r|downsized)

greatauror28 2024-10-23 02:44

I have the Legacy plan which is only $6.49CAD ($4.70USD) per month so I don’t mind. If in the future they will downgrade Legacy plans to basic which forces us to get the $17.99 Pro Plan, I might have to leave.

N878AC 2024-10-23 02:47

Tessie is too expensive and they sell your data (like where you go, how long you’ve been there, etc.)

Carter05 2024-10-23 03:03

Second this. I've had it on my watch for years as a third backup option and it has always worked when needed.

Bash3350972 2024-10-23 03:09

Need!

kkiran 2024-10-23 03:38

Apple Watch with Cellular would finally make sense. True handsfree mode if this happens soon!

GO__NAVY 2024-10-23 03:50

Meanwhile Tessie wants $199 for the app lol gtfo

GO__NAVY 2024-10-23 03:51

I might consider LTE capable Apple Watch when the Tesla Watch app is stable.

spsheridan 2024-10-23 04:18

Tessie is getting Sherlocked. https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=sherlocked

ModY1219 2024-10-23 04:49

All talk. I will believe it when it happens. The overpromising from Tesla makes me repulsive toward the Tesla brand

ByerpZ 2024-10-23 05:07

Obviously the watch option will still be great but if your phone is dying that much it’s causing an issue, have you considered a portable charger?

N4p0le0n 2024-10-23 05:19

"Watch for Tesla" Has an awesome interface and didn't have BS monthly pricing. Just one payment and it works for me every time

Firetuna2108 2024-10-23 05:34

Why don’t they just key support to apple wallet?

bareyb 2024-10-23 06:47

Love it. I never go anywhere without Apple Watch. Would it allow me to leave my phone in the car?

s7orm 2024-10-23 06:50

By that logic Tesla killed Tessie, they are the ones going to start charging third parties a subscription cost per vehicle.

Alienfreak 2024-10-23 06:51

I mean its not like others have done this for quite some time... Tesla just dropped the ball on being really innovative some time ago. [https://screenrant.com/apple-car-key-compatible-vehicles-cars/](https://screenrant.com/apple-car-key-compatible-vehicles-cars/)

iHeartQt 2024-10-23 07:43

Don’t see how this is RIP Tessie. Tessie offers so much more beyond the watch app, and their watch app will continue to function

joeyat 2024-10-23 08:22

Nice. If i can get a complication to open the charge port and boot... life will be complete.

plains203 2024-10-23 09:20

I don’t even use the watch app part of Tessie, didn’t know it had a watch function. Looking forward to the key feature of the Tesla app working better than watchla. My phone battery is getting sad.

Explosev 2024-10-23 10:28

Wouldn’t this just be for newer Teslas with UWB?

Terrible_Tutor 2024-10-23 10:47

It worked for a couple months whenI first bought it then nothing… devs are completely unresponsive. It was the best looking of the watch apps, but it needs to WORK.

Non_vulgar_account 2024-10-23 11:02

But not for the pre refresh x…

tempting_the_gods 2024-10-23 11:18

The watch key function shouldn’t require cellular, as other apps with Tesla phone key capabilities do not on the Apple Watch.

rogersmj 2024-10-23 11:47

Yeah, that app is terrible. For eight months, they keep telling me they’ve fixed the issue where the complications don’t update on their own without interaction. And every time there’s a new version, the problem still isn’t fixed.

itshukokay 2024-10-23 12:16

I believe that requires certain hardware on cars. CarKey still works even if the phone is off.

Ape_Escape_Economy 2024-10-23 12:48

Finally!

[deleted] 2024-10-23 13:34

You should still be able to use Siri on your watch to unlock the car

ChunkyThePotato 2024-10-23 13:41

A lack of an Apple Watch app means they're not innovative? lol

heynongmanheynongman 2024-10-23 13:44

Finally

meramec785 2024-10-23 14:38

summer water zesty makeshift aspiring axiomatic provide thought angle towering *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev/home)*

ChunkyThePotato 2024-10-23 14:55

No, you're just cherry-picking. In terms of technology on a consumer vehicle, nothing is even remotely as advanced as Tesla FSD. And it's not just FSD either. Many things about Tesla's cars feel very futuristic compared to others.

4kVHS 2024-10-23 14:56

They could require premium connectivity but I can’t understand a separate subscription

lonnie123 2024-10-23 15:12

How many times do you have your watch on but not your phone on you ?

ChildishBonVonnegut 2024-10-23 15:24

They mean if they had the phone key on their watch, they wouldn't need to carry their phone around anymore

johnEd33 2024-10-23 15:45

Regularly when I need to get something out of the car but the phone is in the house. Also if you have cellular data on your watch you can leave your phone at home and still be contacting in an emergency. I would love to have my phone on me a bit less

Bderken 2024-10-23 15:52

Most people will always have their phone on them. I think the nice thing is that you can open the trunk/whatever else with the watch instead. Which would be nice. It’s why people buy smart watches, so they don’t have to pull out their phone for quick things.

THATS_LEGIT_BRO 2024-10-23 16:05

I think FSD should include premium connectivity. There’s no way FSD can reroute you due to traffic/accident if it doesn’t have live traffic updates.

LightBringer81 2024-10-23 16:09

I really hope they do that for Wear OS as well ...

Alienfreak 2024-10-23 16:17

At home? VERY OFTEN. Phone is on the couch or a table. But what is with me all the time? The thing strapped to my wrist.

unpluggedcord 2024-10-23 17:04

Its because they use React Native.

ArtieLange 2024-10-23 21:12

The latest iteration of the wipers is a serious improvement. Maybe one false single swipe a month. Barely notice it.

Much-Current-4301 2024-10-23 22:46

Almost never. 👎

Zealousideal_Aside96 2024-10-24 00:13

They have native swift in the iOS app too

Zealousideal_Aside96 2024-10-24 00:16

Until FSD is completely perfect I don’t think it’s that cool. That moment will be a revolutionary accomplishment for Tesla, but these updates every few months that promise to be groundbreaking aren’t that enticing to a normal person who still doesn’t trust it. And I think it’s obvious because they need to keep doing incentives, trials, and lowering the price for FSD.

Zealousideal_Aside96 2024-10-24 00:16

All of the time lol

Zealousideal_Aside96 2024-10-24 00:20

I paid $179 for the lifetime plan. Has already been well worth it

Zealousideal_Aside96 2024-10-24 00:26

Not from the watch

Zealousideal_Aside96 2024-10-24 00:28

Then your car will be unlocked?

Zealousideal_Aside96 2024-10-24 00:28

Hopefully not since Tessie does this with Bluetooth on the watch today

Zealousideal_Aside96 2024-10-24 00:29

Tesla didn’t announce anything here

zerocool359 2024-10-24 00:45

This.

ChunkyThePotato 2024-10-24 05:05

To say Tesla isn't innovative after I just drove home 8 miles in my Tesla car without even touching the steering wheel once (aside from the very start and end of the trip) is absolutely ridiculous. No other car you can buy is doing anything even remotely close to that. Yes, unsupervised is a whole different level of importance, but there is a ton of innovation being done here and already in the hands of customers.

bareyb 2024-10-24 05:31

Yeah not ideal. I wonder if the watch would still work if your phone wasn’t with you? Probably would. So that’s a nice backup key if you lost your phone or forgot to bring it.

[deleted] 2024-10-24 05:35

[deleted]

Beneficial_Pound7715 2024-10-24 06:50

That would be really great!

unpluggedcord 2024-10-24 13:30

Okay? The base is RN.

Zealousideal_Aside96 2024-10-24 16:35

I never said it wasn’t innovative but it’s not game changing until it’s unsupervised. Something that it was supposed to already be by now

Zealousideal_Aside96 2024-10-24 16:36

I literally have FSD? The issue is that it’s curbed wheels and come too close to perpendicular cars when making turns so I can’t trust it for the foreseeable future.

ChunkyThePotato 2024-10-24 16:53

Buddy I was responding to someone who said Tesla isn't innovative and you tried to correct me. Now you're saying it is innovative. Ok.

gabo2007 2024-10-24 17:44

Hopefully it works better than the iPhone app. I have to sit there and unlock my phone or bring it directly next to the car door half the time.

[deleted] 2024-10-24 22:08

[deleted]

TingGreaterThanOC 2024-10-24 23:43

I enjoy swimming in the ocean.

Izz3t 2024-10-25 02:54

Have you tried FSD, especially 12.5.6? It's awesome and hard to go back after you tried it.

Jaywhatthehell 2024-10-26 01:38

I paid $5 for Watchla iWatch App awhile ago. It does almost everything the app can. I have a cellular watch. When I run out without my phone I don't worry about it. Car works and I pay for everything with my watch anyway.

fulcrom4 2024-10-26 03:50

I use watchala it work fine in a pinch.

Teslamyeslag 2024-10-28 20:44

I tried the app and is so buggy…

Naturebrah 2024-10-29 03:57

Uhm..not looking to solve others problems but if you’ve had your phone die on you and left you stranded without your backup key card…more than once…you might could consider keeping it with you.
