As someone that knows nothing about off-roading. How does the CT compare with other similar sized trucks?
I don't know much about off-roading either haha. but on dirt trails (easier ones, aside from rock crawls), I feel it rides smoother than Tacoma and Silverado, doesn't make my bladder bounce. Prolly as nice as the big Ram. Just what I noticed from riding in friends' trucks going caving and canyoning.
That's definitely a fun trail but it's not 7/10 looks like a good time, which is the important thing!
This is why I don't off road anymore. Too many sweats.
Thanks for filming and sharing! I would rate this as a 2 or 3 from what I've been lead to believe - that said this would be a challenging trail for me! From what I gather anything 4 or higher would really require a specialty vehicle that's purpose built - like a mud/rock crawler. I took mine on a similar, but muddy version of what you went on. It was a ton of fun! Everyone needed a winch at different points, lots of high centering on rocks and hard smacks to the rockers and pack. All 4 fairings broke because I was a dummy and forgot to remove them. Front ones I was able to bolt back on, and the rears were half dangling so I had to remove the rockers in order to fully unscrew them. I consider myself lucky as a handful of others had to deal with repairs in the field for tie rods, CV axles, tire beads, and steering rack. Definitely looking forward to the OEM battery armor and rock sliders upgrade later this year. Let me know if you're ever near the southeast USA and are looking for a trail buddy! Would love an excuse to go back out but am hesitant to go at it alone.

I used to be a trail guide for Jeep Jamboree USA. So I have some experience here. Maybe this is a 7 for a stock Jeep but even then we would take them on more without issue.
Good to see some videos of people attempting to off-road with the purpose of off-roading as opposed to trying to break the car. Who knew, trying your hardest to break a vehicle will break a vehicle.

Nice! I thought about getting the swaybar disconnect but was a bit hesitant after I saw how high they wanted the bolts torqued in the service manual ( think it was like 250 foot pounds) and was a bit scared to remove my OEM ones. I've replaced swaybars on my model X in the past, and it was quite difficult to hold the bolt with a torx bit while tightening the nut with a hand wrench. I could get it hand tight but that was it. If cybertruck swaybars are anything like the X, then I'm at a loss of how to get to their torque spec. Maybe I'm overthinking it and they just need to be hand tight.

Well there are a lot of full sized trucks to compare against. Standard work trucks are hopelessly outclassed, but trucks closer in price are a much better comparison. Purely from a rock crawling perspective (not dune running) the Raptor R, TRX, Power Wagon and Rivian would all perform better overall. None of them are great compared to a Wrangler, Bronco, G-Wagon or even Gladiator, but they would likely outperform the Cybertruck due to their greater articulation and angles. A large limiting factor with the Cybertruck is its stock tires. They're misleading and don't compare in grip to real off-roading oriented tires.
Don’t think anything in a non wrangler shape & articulation will be able to dethrone it. It’s such a well sorted platform for off-roading. Tried to live with one in my early 20s but I couldn’t drive them on the road, between, the tire drone, the groove following, and the wind noise made it hard to live with on the daily with a 60mile one way commute. If this was your video, I enjoyed it! Would love to see a follow up after you’ve had some more time to perfect your gear with the cybertruck. Especially if you guys get a chance to redo it with knobbier tires.

I agree mostly with what you're saying but the rivian and especially the quad motor variant has a big issue with stall torque where moving from a complete stop any one motor struggles to drive it forward on an incline. The newer dual motors mostly solves this but they still don't have lockers so it's limited to brake based torque allocation to simulate a locker. Where the rivian would be better is just being smaller on the trail but then the cyber truck has 4 wheel turning.
I mean, he is a pretty terrible human being even with what he has contributed. I am interested in Tesla as a whole because of what they’re attempting to do, “accelerate the transition to sustainable energy”. Would prefer people to judge the product without their Elon hate clouding their judgement as there’s a whole lot of US employees that are reliant on these products. Overall, beyond the quarterly earnings and these presentations, I cut Elon out of my life. No time for his antics.

Interesting, why does the quad struggle? Less power than a dual allocating it to one side with a simulated locker?
Apparently with the bosch motor design it does not provide enough torque to get the vehicle moving where the vehicle is completely stopped and you have some wheels up in the air. Since there is quad motors in theory this should be fine but only if the individual motor per wheel can move the vehicle in those situations and apparently gen 1 can't. I have a newer wrangler I use for offroading and was looking at maybe swapping the rivian for it but this was one of the potential issues with that plan. That said I think the rivian is still great for offroading and some situations its just weird you have to hammer the throttle down to the floor and potentially momentum your way out of some situations where if you had lockers you would just turn them on and your good to go. Yeah, NetJnkienis getting downvoted swarmed, but he’s absolutely correct. This is about a 3. Source; Like NetJnkie, I have attended and guided many Jeep events in AZ (practically lived in my jeep on the weekends in the trails). I can only speak to AZ and the crawling scene, but the CT in non ultra-modified form would probably not make it past many of the gatekeeper obstacles for a 5. Not that it isn’t a great truck, but its length, break over, and articulation limit are all nails in its coffin when it comes to this. Ever see a CT perform on an RTI ramp?… It’s….not good.
