Yeah got my email as well. I should just sell the reservation on ebay or something. I can't decide if I like the "Core wheels and covers" better or not.

spindrift_20 2024-10-04 05:15

Yes, but can you charge at 3rd party CCS chargers? Tesla doesn’t make an adapter that works. Many parts of the country still have few Superchargers.

Zealousideal_Aside96 2024-10-04 05:39

Who would buy that? They’re not hard to get

SnootyGoose 2024-10-04 06:07

Is this a Cybertruck thing? I have the official Tesla CCS adapter and have charged our model 3 at a few Chargepoint and Electrify America chargers with zero issues.

g1aiz 2024-10-04 06:19

The chargeport is too close to the wheel arch thing so the adapter doesn't fit.

SnootyGoose 2024-10-04 06:25

Thanks for letting me know, I wasn’t aware of this issue. Seems like a large mistake to me, having the CCS adapter is critical for us to get around in rural areas.

kobachi 2024-10-04 06:52

Wow what an own-goal

[deleted] 2024-10-04 07:02

These trucks are the worst, ugly as hell and and a total safety hazard. The corners on the steel body are literally sharp, can’t imagine anything less than death getting hit by one of these. I’m all for electric (I have an M3), but these things are frankly obscene    Edit: thanks for the downvotes, unlike you clowns i have a large penis (note - girth and length not just length) so don’t need to compensate by buying large fisher price quality hazards designed by a stoned manga sketchbook artist from 1980. Stay safe everyone, buying a 3.3ton steel death machine won’t solve humanity’s problems or your own insecurities

fuckwhoyouknow 2024-10-04 07:30

Finally time to buy edit: still waiting for mine :(

Academic_Release5134 2024-10-04 07:36

That’s kinda insane, though NACS is coming to most charging stations.

nah_you_good 2024-10-04 07:51

The workaround some people have been doing is to use that sketchy breakaway adapter. They revised the design so it *should* be safer, but do your own research. That means all-in, you'll be paying a few hundred+ for CCS access. Hopefully Tesla will eventually release a 4" extender lol.

[deleted] 2024-10-04 07:56

The Cybertruck is a work of art.

g1aiz 2024-10-04 09:35

The weird part is that the cybertruck is 800V and all current Tesla superchargers don't supply 800V.

GaryTheSoulReaper 2024-10-04 09:43

Mine still offers foundation in the app

PotatoesAndChill 2024-10-04 09:46

Just don't get hit by it, ez.

ObeseSnake 2024-10-04 10:32

So you're not buying one? One more obscenely cool looking truck from the future for me then.

ScottECH93 2024-10-04 10:57

Supposed to qualify for the $7500 tax credit at the price point. That would be $72499 actually. Since the email doesn't say that I wonder if it doesn't qualify due to battery contents or something.

Academic_Release5134 2024-10-04 11:01

Future proofing is just fine. It’s funny that the Foundation series label will be used by people to distinguish the trucks that were produced prior to the recalls and straightening out of production lines.

Wish they would sell it here in EU. /sadpanda.

g1aiz 2024-10-04 11:19

I would not want an early production car from any OEM be it Tesla or anyone else. For the first runs there are usually too many compromises taken due to deadlines. Missing features or small bugs as well as lower standards for quality control.

ih8schumer 2024-10-04 11:48

For 80k why would you not get another option like rivian, f150 lightning, Silverado EV. All better options and the silverado ev has 400+ miles of range and a mid gate. I was a huge fan of the cyber truck... At 50k

binzo21 2024-10-04 11:50

You’re not a day 1 reservation holder…

binzo21 2024-10-04 11:50

Just have to wait for the IRS to update it to POS credit…

GaryTheSoulReaper 2024-10-04 11:54

I’m a day 35 holder $100 refundable deposit only

SnooWoofers345 2024-10-04 12:07

Same internet stranger, same :(

Dos-Commas 2024-10-04 12:14

That was fast. I would skip the first model year (true most brands) for them to get all the guy and finish issues out. Even an ex-Tesla engineer said don't get the first model year.

bjdraw 2024-10-04 12:33

Autopilot. I’ve driven a Tesla for five years, recently test drove a Rivian. It doesn’t even have the basic auto pilot features in the city that my five-year-old Tesla had back then. Basic things like a chime when a light turns green, stopping for lights or signs on TACC or autosteer on all roads should be standard at this point.

fattybunter 2024-10-04 12:34

How's the Silverado EV software package?

LeapYearBoy 2024-10-04 12:43

Should have been $49999, but hey! At least we get nothing for the extra 30k /s

LeapYearBoy 2024-10-04 12:44

On overprices work of art.

Nolubrication 2024-10-04 13:15

I'm a day 1 reservation holder and only have the foundation option. Quite frankly, I'm in no hurry. I'll need another vehicle in another two years or so. By then they should be at full production and prices should be down considerably, just like plaid went from $140k to $90k in one year. At current prices, if I wanted to spend that much, I'd get a Rivian.

CaptPotter47 2024-10-04 13:16

The Rivian is so SO SO ugly with its stupid headlights. Looks constantly like it’s shocked anyone bought it. The F150 is fine, although I think the range doesn’t live up remotely.

Confident-Door3461 2024-10-04 13:17

Is your art worth 80k

Confident-Door3461 2024-10-04 13:19

Better than the hummer ev or the silverado ev that's for sure.

Confident-Door3461 2024-10-04 13:25

Could have sworn it was a software engineer.

I love my cyber beast.

Confident-Door3461 2024-10-04 13:52

20k cybertruck owner would disagree with that.

DissimulatedDoge 2024-10-04 14:22

When the RamCharger comes out in 2025 it is going to be the true game changer. 690 miles of range from a 90ish kWh battery & an onboard gas engine as a generator.

Redditmau5 2024-10-04 14:24

I’d say it’s more like a 2nd grader who learned how to use a ruler for the first time

LeapYearBoy 2024-10-04 14:31

Tat is the usual for any car and models. Never go for first year.

CTrandomdude 2024-10-04 14:46

I think this is the most interesting option if they can pull it off. With that range and technology they could pull in many buyers who are reluctant about an EV.

LurkerWithAnAccount 2024-10-04 14:48

Just got to do my long commute with the truck for the first time today (normally use my 2017 S, but have a bed full of stuff I needed to pick up and drop off) and FSD did very well today, especially considering it’s a v1.0 on the truck. Automatic speed control on 12.5.5 is better than any previous version I’ve tried, though could still use some work, which I know is on the agenda for October. Otherwise it was just a boring, uneventful 100 mile drive of a mix of rural, highway, and city with me listening to the news and podcasts. The truck hella fun to drive, but for trips like this, boring is better.

Witty-Chocolate-8213 2024-10-04 15:01

This implies that autopilot **does** stop at lights and signs on TACC (ie not fsd ). My 2022 Y does not.

xiangkunwan 2024-10-04 16:12

Lower energy consumption, the Silverado uses ~25% more energy than the Cybertruck (1,300 kWh extra per year driving 14,000 mi) Cybertruck AWD (123kWh/340mi=362Wh/mi) Silverado (200kWh/440mi=454Wh/mi) R1T (149kWh/401mi=372Wh/mi) F150 Lightning (131kWh/320mi=409Wh/mi)

ih8schumer 2024-10-04 16:23

We're on a post about the cyber truck and you're calling the rivian ugly 😂 the irony is palpable. I was quite impressed with how spacious and well the lightning drove. Almost felt like a luxury car

ih8schumer 2024-10-04 16:32

There wasn't nearly 50% inflation in five years, in fact battery technology improved and things got cheaper for EV. You're not getting a cyber truck for 80k OTD either there's tax etc. you can absolutely get a Silverado ev with 393 miles of range for low sixties into high fifties. Looking at one selling for 62k right now for a 3wt model.

[deleted] 2024-10-04 16:33

I’ll try my best bud. can’t imagine the fatality rate with trucks wrapped in solid steel versus a car, stats are bad enough for trucks and SUVs

Turtleturds1 2024-10-04 16:34

You get - 200 miles of the expected range

wighty 2024-10-04 16:35

The reservations are still selling for several hundred if you look at sold listings, no clue if those transactions are going completely through or not which is why I never tried when the orders were first opening up (where ebay listings were showing sold for like $1-3k).

Terrible_Tutor 2024-10-04 16:35

Is the fucking dumbest take eh. Like other pickups are peak design. Like I want to drive around in a bulbous redneck mobile that looks like every other redneck mobile. Who’s fronts are higher than the CT. Like if it hits you you’re going to instantly fly into pieces like it’s a knife or some dumb shit?

Turtleturds1 2024-10-04 16:37

Literally impossible specs. This is dumb.

Turtleturds1 2024-10-04 16:38

You're a minority. Most people think they're cool.

PotatoesAndChill 2024-10-04 16:39

I'm sure the sharp corners aren't great for pedestrian collisions, but I also doubt that they have a *huge* negative impact. Cybertruck's active safety features and smaller blind spot in front of the truck more than compensate for the higher risk of injury in case of a hit.

Turtleturds1 2024-10-04 16:40

It won't because Elon's theory that it would be cheap to build was 100% wrong. He should've given up on it at that point and made an awesome, normal looking truck instead.

[deleted] 2024-10-04 16:50

[deleted]

specter491 2024-10-04 16:58

If they improved the range I would buy it in a heartbeat. But 340 miles before actually doing any real truck things (hauling, towing, etc) is lame. And they also downgraded the towing capacity, I believe it was going to be 14k lbs and now it's 11k lbs.

ih8schumer 2024-10-04 17:02

The market hasn't been that way since at least early last year. If they're able to drop the price significantly it's not inflation it's greed you're conflating the two.

CaptPotter47 2024-10-04 17:16

I’m not saying the CT is Elon’s beautiful gift to mankind, but man those Rivian headlights 🤮

CaptPotter47 2024-10-04 17:16

Must be. They look so dumb. 🤢

DissimulatedDoge 2024-10-04 17:25

Impossible? Please enlighten me

ih8schumer 2024-10-04 17:30

Yeah they're definitely an interesting choice.

thewashley 2024-10-04 17:40

A Lucid Air Pure gets something like 420 miles on 84kWh. Nobody is getting 690 miles on 90kWh unless it's a scooter. Edit: oh, it's a hybrid. That doesn't count :p

[deleted] 2024-10-04 17:41

CrazyCalgary 2024-10-04 17:45

In Alberta, still can’t even order

Sobsis 2024-10-04 17:50

That's good advice for literally every make and model ever produced tbh

[deleted] 2024-10-04 17:57

Anyone would rather get hit by bodywork designed to crumple on impact than a steel corner. Active safety features won’t compensate for a floating 3.33 ton steel sofa smashing into a car, person or goodness knows what else. It’s a massive hazard

crimxona 2024-10-04 17:57

But that would be the solution to all the towing fanatics. I think it will do well.

ih8schumer 2024-10-04 18:15

Them selling it has nothing to do with inflation my guy it's still greed. Think someone should take a basic economics class

[deleted] 2024-10-04 18:25

[deleted]

niktak11 2024-10-04 18:51

So it's like the truck version of a Chevy Volt? If I got a hybrid that'd be my preferred architecture.

ih8schumer 2024-10-04 18:56

I'm not denying that they're selling but the cost increase isn't from inflation it's for a much larger profit. That's the point your missing and that's why you don't understand economics

tangosukka69 2024-10-04 18:56

inflation adjustment

oasiscat 2024-10-04 19:58

Yeah the whole point of a stainless steel, paint-less vehicle was that it was supposed to be tough and able to take a beating. If I pay upwards of 80k (let alone 120k for Foundation) there's no way I'm even letting a scratch on that thing. At that point it's an expensive toy. A 25-40k stainless steel vehicle makes more sense. Whatever we have now .... Doesn't.

nicotinecravings 2024-10-04 20:09

Cybertruck is bulletproof and has auto pilot my friend. Use your brains my friend

ih8schumer 2024-10-04 20:13

1. It's not bullet proof. 2 auto pilot sucks. Many better self driving systems out there..

binkbankb0nk 2024-10-04 20:19

What a dependency. People in the subreddit are getting worse at driving.

DissimulatedDoge 2024-10-04 20:27

Yep, doesn’t over complicate the drivetrain & add unnecessary bulk with a transmission for the gas engine. Just smooth, torquey electric power

[deleted] 2024-10-04 20:37

The AWD was listed at 300 and the current AWD gets more like 350

ADriftingMind 2024-10-04 20:39

Cybertruck (Beast) is the best vehicle I have ever driven. Beast mode is scary fast and overall the vehicle drives immaculately.

Turtleturds1 2024-10-04 21:01

The original promise was 500 miles for the awd.

Turtleturds1 2024-10-04 21:11

Are you trying to be difficult or just have a challenge with reading comprehension? Tri-motor is awd.

aptwo 2024-10-04 21:49

I have the option just pop up on my app. Anyone want it for 90k? lol

balaggie 2024-10-04 21:55

I thought the IRS already did. I figure it either doesn't qualify or Tesla forgot to update their configurator (more likely)

dantodd 2024-10-04 21:56

No. The AWD is the dual motor and the tri-motor is the beast. The third model will be the RWD version.

whiteknives 2024-10-04 21:58

Year 2 starts next month.

dantodd 2024-10-04 21:59

That's unusual behavior. Every one I've driven stopped at traffic control lights regardless of their color on TACC.

Kuronos 2024-10-04 22:01

You have to realize that 90% of the people here can’t even own a Tesla.

canikony 2024-10-04 22:12

I would say this is the safest approach but was super lucky with my 2018 Model 3 and my 2023 R1t (so far). My Model 3 got totalled in an accident with 97k miles in 2021, only maintenance besides tires was the 12 volt. I was quite impressed.

ton2010 2024-10-04 22:59

Kudos to you for being so confidently incorrect

ih8schumer 2024-10-04 23:02

Autopilot literally doesn't have stop sign control or traffic light control.

ih8schumer 2024-10-04 23:04

I'm excited for it, just wish it wasn't a stellantis product though. Just not a good track record with them and anything electronics especially hybrids. Their Pacifica hybrid is one of the least reliable vehicles on the road.

jjcanayjay 2024-10-04 23:06

I have an AWD dual motor cybertruck My only regret was not getting the Cyberbeast

DissimulatedDoge 2024-10-04 23:14

I think I read on a Reddit comment that the Jeep 4xE is the best selling PHeV in the US? Also they do a good job on their trucks, manufacturers know that if a truck buyer has a bad experience they lose a lifetime customer. I’ve been exceptionally happy with my Ram for the last 2.5 years and I’d absolutely buy another based off their interior & ride quality.

wattthefrunk 2024-10-04 23:21

Anyone know how long you can wait on the invite to configure?

bjdraw 2024-10-05 00:25

Good point. Forgot those two were FSD features.

Turtleturds1 2024-10-05 00:32

Only a true supporter would argue that ti-motor is not all wheel drive and that awd = AWD. I wasn't talking about a specific model name that's idiotic and generic enough to describe multiple models.

robl45 2024-10-05 01:06

Yea and I can’t figure out how to get my 100 back. I signed on for a 70k cyber truck that did 520 range and 2.9 seconds. This current thing is an ugly thing that rich people think is a status symbol

GaryTheSoulReaper 2024-10-05 01:24

Yea I’m not seeing a refund for my $100 either They over promised and under delivered I mean it’s cool, I’m really a fan of the 240V output and 48V electrical system but I can’t even claim the 7500 tax credit they advertise applied to the cost

bgarza18 2024-10-05 02:01

What does that matter compared to real world range?

bgarza18 2024-10-05 02:14

It doesn’t stop bullets at all? I saw a video where it did, do you have new information?

Crazy-Agency5641 2024-10-05 02:18

“Inflation” It’s funny how all of the other models decreased in price yet the cybertruck goes up in price due to inflation. It’s certified bullshit. Yes, costs have undoubtedly gone up, but they haven’t gone up across the board, and they certainly have gone up enough to justify a $30k increase on an electric truck.

ChuckJA 2024-10-05 04:04

340 miles on something that weighs 6600 lbs and is shaped a paperweight is amazing

[deleted] 2024-10-05 04:26

Regular car. Worth a read: https://slate.com/technology/2023/12/cybertruck-safety-elon-musk-tesla-danger.html

Material_Pin4622 2024-10-05 04:32

It will be pretty nice when on a couple of years you can get these slightly used for $50-60k (or less) similar to an older model x

VideoGameJumanji 2024-10-05 04:52

That doesn't get applied after tax in the states?

VideoGameJumanji 2024-10-05 04:53

The number of physical defects on the foundation series is everybody's first hand look at beta testing a car in public. The "second" run of these cars should be substantially more refined.

VideoGameJumanji 2024-10-05 04:57

What does that have to do with his comment?

VideoGameJumanji 2024-10-05 04:58

I swear, Rivian is going to be one of the first companies to cave in and license FSD for their cars. FSD licensing by other automakers is going to be a snowball effect just like NACS was.

[deleted] 2024-10-05 06:13

[deleted] 2024-10-05 06:22

You’re obviously a little simple, so let me simplify it for you: you can have all the safety gadgets in the world - but a 3.3 ton steel object hurtling towards anything will get decimated. Trucks with crumple zones are bad enough, this is just ridiculous

[deleted] 2024-10-05 06:33

[removed]

[deleted] 2024-10-05 07:27

Choose any of the articles you want regarding safety and cybertrucks, they’re all pessimistic. 🤔you can have all the tech in the world, but it’s breaking distance that matters. Let’s say the tech detects a kid running across a road, brakes but it needs 60 feet to brake at 35mph. Kid is 40 feet away and gets hit. I use the kid example because statistically they die more often with light trucks and SUVs. That’s a fact because they’re bigger heavier and less forgiving. But the cybertruck is stainless steel and doesn’t crumple like any other vehicle. Don’t you see this as a problem? Or is the “cool” factor making you oblivious to physics? edit: I have an M3 and the 'safety' tech in the car sucks, it can barely stick to a lane on the freeway for more than 20 minutes without phantom breaking. I wouldn't trust that tesla tech will solve the bigger problems with the truck

specter491 2024-10-05 11:19

That's cool but it's not what they advertised originally. And when you do anything truck related, that range drops fast. Chevy Silverado EV does over 400

stomicron 2024-10-05 13:57

It gets applied when you file your annual taxes. But you would still expect Tesla to advertise it.

baconreader9000 2024-10-05 14:52

It literally looks the same as when it was unveiled. So calling it ugly and saying you reserved it is stupid.

Hot_Mess_2244 2024-10-05 14:54

Elon even said to wait six months, and he is 7 years late to need...

DrTibbz 2024-10-05 14:56

How do you know they're better? There is more to a vehicle than the spec sheet. I drove both a rivian and lightning. Neither was a bad car, but their driving dynamics are not nearly as good as a Tesla imo. The rivian in particular surprised me. Very nice trick, great finish quality, but I did not find it particularly enjoyable to drive. Tesla, on the other hand, has impressed me on every model I've driven, and I suspect the CT will as well.

willard_swag 2024-10-05 15:31

And it’s still awful tbh

ih8schumer 2024-10-05 16:18

They were likely being sarcastic. There's over a 230 day supply of jeep 4xe at the rate they're selling right now. All stellantis products are piling up on dealer lots.

Douche_Baguette 2024-10-05 16:41

> calling it ugly and saying you reserved it is stupid. I'm not the guy you're responding to, but I took his statement to mean, it was always ugly, but I pre-ordered it because the specs were just so good for the price. So now that the specs are nothing special for the price, the fact that it's (still) ugly (to him) makes it no longer worth it.

DissimulatedDoge 2024-10-05 17:06

Just googled it and apparently it’s been #1 since 2021

ih8schumer 2024-10-05 17:17

That's really interesting. There's nearly 15k of them sitting on dealer lots across the country. Maybe phev just don't sell well. Either way something selling well doesn't equate to a quality product. Jeep wranglers have consistently ranked at the bottom of reliability charts and safety scores but still seem to sell well. Chrysler's Pacifica Hybrid has plenty of family-friendly features, but according to Consumer Reports, its reliability is poor. With an underwhelming score of 14 out of 100, it allegedly has problems ranging from battery and electrical charging issues to electric motor malfunctions and in-car electronics glitches Searching for 4xe turns a lot of misses on reliability ratings too. It'll be interesting to see how things turn out. Chrysler Dodge jeep ram all have pretty horrible reliability ratings.

LeYang 2024-10-06 02:23

> I pre-ordered it because the specs were just so good for the price. Exactly this. The original price made it worth it as a project/lifestyle truck.

LeYang 2024-10-06 02:26

Reports of owners with normal road tires, are getting ~300Wh/mi which is Model Y range.

LeYang 2024-10-06 02:30

So a bigger BYD Shark?

And it's strange they still market it having exoskeleton while in reality they ditched that design idea but still went with stainless steel paneling which is not structural.

I can't bring myself to buy it. I bought a reservation and would have made the purchase until just before mass production, the price increased. The price quoted when I was going to buy and made my reservation was 39,000 for the base model. Now, the base model is starting at the old top model price. Had it been 5 or 10k increase, maybe....

For the originally announced $69k tri-motor AWD trim. Not for the $49k dual-motor AWD trim.

I really wanted the beast but I plan on doing some towing so I need all the range I can get. The original tri motor 500 mile range would have been perfect and checked all the boxes.

The Rivian has a tiny bed too at only 4.5'.

Do you live in Argentina?

preetham_salehundam 2024-10-07 21:02

How are you seeing it for $80k when it shows 99k for me. I have reserved it long back.

I fucking hate this trend of treating the name of a countable, physical product as an uncountable. It should be "the Cybertruck allows you to..." and "the Cybertruck can handle..." It's a marketing trick to try to get you think of a tangible product as more than just a thing, and I don't like it.

LeapYearBoy 2024-10-08 12:18

What are you talking about? Daddy Biden says that inflation is not that bad /s In reality, if the car market can go to 35-40% increase in three years, then that means EVERYTHING ELSE also went about the same. Sorry for the Political rant, but Biden and team have destroyed this country.

LeapYearBoy 2024-10-08 12:18

Boludeando in english!

Icy_Knowledge2190 2024-10-08 20:16

For most every car manufacturer I agree because they design and build until they re-design. But with Tesla, they have so much flexibility in the build process that they can (and do) modify the vehicle at any time with with better parts and processes. It's not like the 2025 CT will be redesigned, it will just have updated parts as required

Audixieboy37 2024-10-12 06:10

Everything has doubled since 2018 dude. Wake up and stop hating

And you drive a _______ .

Interesting_Try941 2024-10-17 12:42

Since the $79,990 CT qualifies for the commercial tax credit, shouldn't it also be eligible for the consumer tax credit?

[deleted] 2024-10-24 17:03

Not true. Not all liberals are poor.

[deleted] 2024-12-05 14:36

Haha, what a POS

pioneer76 2024-12-18 15:28

I'm genuinely curious how this is going to come out price wise. If it's over $80k, it will not be eligible for a tax credit, which will make it much more expensive comparatively. So it kind of has to be under $80k if it is going to be competitive. Even at $80k, it's still way more than I'd ever consider for a vehicle. For me personally, if I 100% needed a truck for hauling, I'd probably buy like a $35k used gas truck and then do as much driving in a $20k EV like a Bolt as a two car household.

Ram’s flagship performance truck starts at $69k & their most luxurious is $87k. I think there’s a good chance MSRP starts at $70k and the top-end trim maxes out at $80k.
