In addition, some of the winners from the last round have been added to the regular "find us" map page. Winners from previous rounds are now grey trophy icons, the recently added winners are the gold trophy icons. I think they've taken some poetic license with naming "winners" since it has been about 8-9 months since the last round opened and the voting process has been sitting there ignored for most of that time. As an example, for the Asia Pacific region, I can see one new winner for each of Japan, Australia, and South Korea - but that's all. From memory, there were no Australia sites in the top 5 at all.

There six locations that won in Quebec since the beginning, and there has been absolutely zero progress on these sites since then. What is the point of voting anyway if they stay a grey dot for years…

It's all a bit contrived. With the greyed icons I thought maybe they were just going to quietly drop it. But, here we go and I will be suckered again, like spinning the prize wheel or playing with that stupid crane machine at the plaza.

It does seem odd to me. They should pretty good data to tell them where chargers are needed. If a spot is popular enough to win a vote, it probably would have gotten one in the near future regardless. I suppose this is mostly about generating enthusiasm/engagement among owners.

What do you expect from a company that fired all the super charger employees and then tried to rehire them when Elon calmed down from his tantrum.

The idea is that if there are currently places that aren’t traveled to because of supercharger gaps, those places won’t show up in the fleet location data. That’s why you need to crowdsource this; you can’t see if an absence of travel is because people genuinely don’t want to travel there, or precisely BECAUSE there’s a gap that needs filling But yeah if people are voting to add more chargers in high density areas, then that’s likely unnecessary

That’s what I try to do among the Tesla community in Australia. Find the 5 locations which are outside the current coverage zone and encourage all owners to vote for those 5. It is challenging when competing against Japan/South Korea, and their population is many multiples of ours though.

Supercharger network is Tesla main monopoly play they need to ramp it up everywhere. Second is starlink.

WilliamTRyker 2024-09-24 23:14

I highly doubt that. The cars dominate the electric vehicle market by a large margin especially when you lump all Tesla models together. The SC network isn’t a huge money maker for Tesla even when compared to the energy storage products.

Europe doesn't include the UK?
