Are people actually paying these prices?

PhotoPhysical4938 | 2026-03-13 00:51 | 55 views

Saw this used Blue 2026 Model Y Premium RWD, 8,000 miles, for 45k…a brand new one is 45k. 46,000 if you add the blue paint. Who the heck is buying these vehicles for these prices?

Pretty-Panic2398 2026-03-13 00:53

maybe it has FSD? The advertisement lacks so much information.

andrey_not_the_goat 2026-03-13 00:59

A brand new one is $50k out the door with that color. The one in the photo is of relatively low mileage and can be bought immediately. It'll take a bit before '26 Y's start depreciating.

PhotoPhysical4938 2026-03-13 01:01

Ah I live in a non sales tax state, would it still be 50k?

MapleQuasar 2026-03-13 01:03

Lol yes, yes they are doofus

PhotoPhysical4938 2026-03-13 01:04

No FSD on the vehicle. This is in NH too

goodvibezone 2026-03-13 01:13

The reason some places get away with it is because they offer credit terms to people with lower credit scores.

growmysmallportfolio 2026-03-13 01:21

NH?

PhotoPhysical4938 2026-03-13 01:21

New Hampshire, no sales tax here

jtmonkey 2026-03-13 01:21

People want that autopilot.

PhotoPhysical4938 2026-03-13 01:22

All teslas come with basic autopilot right? This one doesn’t have FSD

Educational-Goal7900 2026-03-13 01:38

No, no Tesla any trim comes with autosteer standard anymore. Only traffic aware cruise control. Any new order does not have autosteer for the model 3 or model Y and the cybertruck never had autosteer either. So, autosteer is completely gone from any new Tesla sold as of today.

thegolfpilot 2026-03-13 01:38

New ones just have adaptive cruise control. Have to pay whatever Tesla wants that month for FSD if you want lane assist features now

PhotoPhysical4938 2026-03-13 01:39

I heard about that last week, do they still call it autopilot?

Electrical_Review_81 2026-03-13 01:40

That is the listed price- doesn't mean it will sell at that price

Droppin_Bombs 2026-03-13 01:42

Why don’t you take a trip to the local Tesla showroom and see how many people are taking delivery on a typical Saturday. I picked my Model Y up in Nov 2023 from the Peabody, MA location. Tesla was debatably less popular back then. I remember going for a demo drive and then deciding on the spot to take delivery of one. One of the Tesla reps said “Hmm… I don’t know if we’ll be able to do same day today. We have your car in stock but A LOT of people are taking delivery today.” I was surprised and asked how many. He pointed to the backside of the lot and said “This whole row and this whole row are today’s deliveries.” There were about 40 cars parked in those two rows. I bought the stock the next business day.

Educational-Goal7900 2026-03-13 01:43

It was technically always really called autosteer, but online in and in the configurator, and the naming in the car they called it Autopilot. But no, now online they call it autosteer with traffic aware cruise control and Release Update 2026.2.9 renamed everything in the car software that was called autopilot is now called autosteer and self driving. Release 2026.2.9: https://www.notateslaapp.com/software-updates/version/2026.2.9/release-notes

natewlew 2026-03-13 01:47

Come on, Bob Mariano has you covered 😂

mogur86 2026-03-13 01:58

Why does the picture look so photoshopped?

AZFJ60 2026-03-13 02:04

If you search on cargurus, they're all at that price point. And still for sale... Not sure why people just don't go new with 0.99%. cheaper option. But I haven't seen ANY used Junipers for much under $45k unless they had over 20k miles, and even then, just around $43k.

imacleopard 2026-03-13 02:09

Meh depends on region. We could have grabbed a same-day ‘26 MY but not the color we wanted, so just scheduled one and we could have picked up next day 2 hours away but we placed it for a better time that worked with us.

Active_Pressure 2026-03-13 02:13

www.tesla.com

Significant-Zombie-7 2026-03-13 02:16

Some chump will buy it with a gut punch reaction to the fuel prices, guaranteed.

Active_Pressure 2026-03-13 02:18

Now that you mention it, that’s gotta be the reason for the increase in price. I can’t see why it would go up if every week since the dealer had it on the lot it’s dropped $500 each week.

Omega2307 2026-03-13 02:21

Why would somebody sell a 2026 already

dastriderman 2026-03-13 02:27

Lol saw this exact car on the Sunnyvale Toyota lot ~ 2 weeks ago and chatted w the worker about it. I was also perplexed by the high asking price for the 50k miles - the dude shrugged it off and said they expect it to be gone within a week. Glad to see no chump bit on it as of today

KribKrabble 2026-03-13 02:28

It's crazy what they are doing in my opinion. Probably the main reason I got the car, besides the fact that its electric, is for the autopilot. Would definitely not buy it now. Sad.

dastriderman 2026-03-13 02:29

No it wouldnt be

Low_Rip_7232 2026-03-13 02:47

Supply & demand. Ordering one is taking months. My son ordered a MYP on Feb 11th and it’s showing April/May delivery. No VIN yet.

OdinNW 2026-03-13 02:47

I too completely forget that state exists

Unusual_Aside5181 2026-03-13 02:47

Because it is. A lot of dealers will just edit it to just the car with a stock photo background. It's kinda lame.

mogur86 2026-03-13 02:53

Pretty lame indeed. Makes it seem like a fake ad imo. Maybe just because I'm not used to seeing that

Dxdpoke 2026-03-13 03:30

Glad I got mine for 39k back in July 2025

1fapadaythrowaway 2026-03-13 04:00

Lots of questionable credit scores out there but really want the new Y.

1fapadaythrowaway 2026-03-13 04:01

The adas is annoying and needs to be turned off every damn time. That could be a reason.

klaw318 2026-03-13 04:12

Yes they are

jtmonkey 2026-03-13 04:19

I drive it every day and I didn’t realize this happened 😂

sevargmas 2026-03-13 04:22

I mean, it looks like it’s basically brand new and maybe someone is impulsive and doesn’t want to wait several weeks from Tesla. Or they have bad credit.

erockmoon 2026-03-13 05:13

Why not just get FSD, most now buy Tesla specifically for FSD? It’s way better than any autopilot Imo.

sphexie96 2026-03-13 05:22

Guess you’d know that before spending 45k on a car wtf

pusslicker 2026-03-13 05:23

What’s the adas?

KribKrabble 2026-03-13 05:24

Most new modern cars come with some sort of "autopilot" for free. I don't want to pay 50 or 100 dollars a month (whatever it is) because I don't like FSD. Personally I get anxiety driving and on the highway I am constantly using Autopilot on and off as a tool for specific times/situations. Autopilot is amazing when I am cruising and traffic is calm and is situational for me. Otherwise I hate how Autopilot on the highway will drive very quickly towards stopped traffic ahead rather than gradually slow down like a human. I will also turn off Autopilot when I am passing cars that I think are driving poorly. It all just comes down to my anxiety and not trusting or knowing what the car AI will do. I just don't trust FSD and I would be incredibly anxious using it wondering if it will run me into a wall. ALSO I don't trust other drivers around me which is actually the real problem for me using FSD. I would only want FSD if most cars on the highway are using FSD, 'talking' to each other with like decades of data and testing. Just my personal opinion and comes down to your anxiety levels and how much control you want to have.

DoughtCom 2026-03-13 05:50

Having just bought a model s plaid today with FSD, I’m finding out tonight it doesn’t transfer with vehicles anymore apparently so that’s cool.

ryfle_ 2026-03-13 06:03

If you haven't tried FSD lately, it feels like a dream. We had a trial that just ended, and we're very sad. We're going to buy it soon for a road trip, but ya. It's pretty amazing. Autosteer feels much more jerky and incompetent. Like you said, it drives up behind cars very fast, the other day it put me in a turning lane out of no where during residential driving last second and then panicked. Obviously not meant for how I was using it, but on the highway just now it's a little rainy and dark and Autosteer was kinda jerky. Never felt like that with FSD. FSD drives like a human more than ever and will slow down approaching cars and perfectly execute basically everything. It backs out of our driveway seamlessly and we have other cars in the way and it curves. I feel 100x more safe with FSD than Autosteer. For reference we have HW4 in our 2023 model Y awd.

GrandElectronic6850 2026-03-13 06:09

Nobody is buying them at that price … that’s why it’s still for sale 😝

breadexpert69 2026-03-13 06:20

Autopilot and people are fearing gas prices will keep increasing

KribKrabble 2026-03-13 06:20

I got a 2024 model Y. I guess I'll have to give FSD a try! I didn't even bother to try it when they were giving it out for free here and there because of my anxiety.

SpicyElixer 2026-03-13 07:02

I’m not familiar with what’s annoying about it. Is this newer thing?

LightningMcDuck 2026-03-13 07:03

WHAT!? Since when?

juan003 2026-03-13 07:49

How is it cool that FSD no longer transfers with vehicles? Do you mean the next owner doesn’t get to inherit it?

TimeStampKing 2026-03-13 09:51

A friend of mine bought one a month ago and it transferred

Bulky-Hold6688 2026-03-13 11:32

2026 and 50k miles that one was used for uber or DoorDash

DoughtCom 2026-03-13 11:35

Look into it, they changed it around the 14th of Feb

DoughtCom 2026-03-13 11:36

It was extreme sarcasm because I’m pissed and yes that’s what I meant.

DoughtCom 2026-03-13 11:38

When I googled it earlier it seems to have changed within the last month.

TimeStampKing 2026-03-13 11:43

I can’t find anything saying it no longer transfers on used cars with FSD purchased outright. Did you buy from Tesla? I heard cars traded directly to Tesla are stripped of fsd but private party and used cars for 3rd party dealers keep fsd

Key-Business-4088 2026-03-13 12:35

That what these are going for right now. For mine with ab the same miles etc. A dealer offered me 42 so I imagine that this would be there sales price

Stock-Sea6114 2026-03-13 13:29

I know private sales transfer.

R3sp4wN 2026-03-13 13:49

I just picked up my Launch Edition with 10k miles for 46,700! I'm glad they stick closely to the"new" pricing in my case. But yeah, I do agree that the new pricing for the used cars is ridiculous... I guess you do get Autopilot.

Own_Illustrator7651 2026-03-13 14:00

FWIW, I bought my first Tesla 2 weeks ago…2026 Y Premium RWD (I’m in SC no need for AWD). I bought FSD before it became subscription only…maybe a bad move financially, but I LOVE FSD. In 2 weeks of almost constant use, I have had two instances where I felt it was headed for trouble and overrode it. Once was passing a truck on 2 lane highway with a car oncoming. It MIGHT have had room, but made me nervous. Second was crossing a divided road at a grade crossover with a lot of traffic. It paused in the middle correctly, but wasn’t willing to merge into the left lane with traffic in right lane only. Now, it cannot back out of my curved driveway..takes two passes at it and quits. And it won’t park in my garage on FSD. So what? I can park and back up a driveway. It is wonderful in traffic and on the road. It is WAY more polite than I am and more cautious. Waits at least one beat longer at stop signs than I would. Won’t pull out with cars coming, even well far enough away. I am VERY impressed.

eSUP80 2026-03-13 14:03

it means the next owner does get to inherit it, as long as you don’t buy from Tesla directly. For a while you could take it with you to your next car.

eSUP80 2026-03-13 14:06

That’s exactly why

1fapadaythrowaway 2026-03-13 14:10

Automated driver assist systems. 26 gets emergency lane departure on at every drive and if you happen to live where roads are shit it will fight you if you are steering to avoid potholes amongst other issues. I’ve gotten used to it now but at first it was very aggravating. Older models you can select your modes and they stay that way. Question is whether they will force this upon older models in ota updates.

krisdeb78 2026-03-13 14:23

Or maybe but maybe… They have money? Not everyone on this planet cares about money so much and wants to save every $

ryfle_ 2026-03-13 14:44

Definitely try it again I can’t wait to get it back again.

Ok-Cookie3380 2026-03-13 15:26

That car cost 49900 so 5k off not bag

SpockInMyBackyard 2026-03-13 15:49

It’s crazy until you realize the board serves Elon and his salary and bonus is tied to subscription rates for FSD so he is taking away ADAS features that were standard and offering them only with FSD

Halozamus 2026-03-13 16:17

If they can get someone approved with 30 percent apr lol they will do it

No-Leopard-1415 2026-03-13 17:29

You might notice that, in all of these user reports, nobody is reporting that it crashed into a wall. It's likely safer than most human drivers.

KribKrabble 2026-03-13 17:32

Yes I agree its probably safer than a human. It's just like anxiety control issue I have. I literally get like butterflies in my stomach randomly if I feel like I don't have control. Also happens when I am a passenger in a car. But then again the real issue I have is not with FSD itself but FSD driving around other drivers who are dumb! I can't wait for the day once every car is basically on FSD in a giant network. No more traffic jams?

SpicyElixer 2026-03-13 17:42

I see. Yeah I have a 2025 MY (right before refresh). And I when that stuff turned off. When I tried lane assist and warn I was annoyed so I disabled it. Funny how it thinks it can avoid potholes but FSD cannot, and seems to seek them out.

DoughtCom 2026-03-13 17:45

Interesting, I bought it from a Honda dealership. It shows it on the build information, but it’s requiring me to subscribe to it and says I don’t have it.

PhotoPhysical4938 2026-03-13 17:53

This is in New Hampshire with no sales tax, it seems new cost 47,630 for the blue color option RWD

1fapadaythrowaway 2026-03-13 18:04

If my roads were perfect i’d be about it. FSD and lane departure both suck and will try to hit every pothole and rut it can. I have an entrance to an onramp that splits 3 ways and tries to steer me onto the wrong ramp thinking i’m leaving the lane, if I drive in the right lane it doesn’t do this. It’s just so dumb I can’t believe people think its a great system. Only reason I don’t sell is because they do do updates

Prudent-Theme6745 2026-03-13 18:41

The demand is up due to the rising fuel prices

ericloz 2026-03-13 19:03

Vermont if it wasn’t for their cheese.

jtmonkey 2026-03-13 19:10

I’m going to say from an AI learning perspective the autopilot may be holding back the FSD learning. If we want it to be better at lane changes and predictability it needs the data. I personally think that’s the reason they eliminated the lane changes option too.

andrewsz__ 2026-03-13 19:49

I ordered a MYP on Tuesday had a vin assigned with pick up ready by Friday, I changed the color on my order Wednesday and had a new vin assigned with a delivery day within 30minutes. Might be a trim specific thing but at least in SoFL there seems to be plenty😅

oasisallure 2026-03-13 22:07

Many people get Montana plate.

OdinNW 2026-03-13 22:23

Vermont if it wasn’t for Bernie Sanders

Outside-Comparison12 2026-03-14 03:07

🤢🤮 the Crypt Keeper himself.

Organic-Astronaut764 2026-03-14 03:25

Has you guys seen the prices of new cars? This isn’t expensive.

Ok-Cookie3380 2026-03-14 03:54

Ahhh, thanks I didn’t realize it was RWD

Altruistic_Aerie4758 2026-03-14 05:04

I had the same exact thought.

Altruistic_Aerie4758 2026-03-14 05:04

It may still have autopilot though.

powa1216 2026-03-14 05:41

Try go into reverse and then reactivate FSD. The car will go into the garage.
