I can’t remove my payment card without adding a new one?

My time as a Tesla driver ends tomorrow as my M3 goes back at the end of its lease. i’ve cancelled my Premium Connectivity subscription, and will remove my access via the app when I hand the car over. However, I’m trying to remove my payment card from the wallet and it won’t let me remove it without adding a new payment card. Obviously, I don’t want to add a new card as the car is going back. But also, I don’t want my current card attached to the car and end up liable for any cost of the new owner incurs. Does anybody have any idea how I can just remove my payment card without adding a new one? I suspect it might be because my Premium Connectivity subscription doesn’t end until April 1, but by this time the car won’t be mine anymore and I have no access to it. I’m not really sure what to do.

After you remove the car from your account go-to the Tesla website, follow these steps: 1. Sign in to your Tesla Account. 2. Select 'Data & Privacy' > 'Delete Account.' 3. Follow the prompts.

In the car: Controls > Service > Factory Reset That will remove the payment from the car. After they buy and transfer the car to themselves they will have their own account and your card won’t be on it. You can deactivate your account once the car is gone.

Use the privacy app to make a virtual credit card number that has a zero amount on it.

For any situation like this, i.e. subscriptions that make it hard to cancel, use virtual credit cards. My bank lets me create as many as I want and I use them for everything except in person swiping. These cards are only good for one merchant and can be locked at any time. Whenever I subscribe to something on the internet I create a new virtual card. If it's a free trial I lock it right after the trial is started, so they don't "accidentally" charge me when it's over if I have canceled or if they make it hard to cancel. If I like the thing and want to keep paying, I just unlock the card. Even for subscription of things I like and use, I lock the card after 6 months because I feel I should reevaluate a subscription twice a year to make sure it is still worth paying for.
