Tesla trade-in: laughable offer. (Europe)

Hey guys! So, I've been thinking of selling my TM3 Highland (12/2024) and switching over to the Juniper. While I love my car, I just need that bit more space. Now obviously I wasn't expecting miracles from the trade-in offer, but at least decent money. But still, I got an offer for around 25,000 euros, which I think is just pathetic. The car is a 12/2024 LR AWD, great condition. Never had an accident. Just one scratch when stupidly entering my own garage: had it fixed at an approved Body Shop for a few euros. When I did the unofficial estimate on the Tesla website, it gave me close to 40k, which I knew was too good to be true. But 25k is just embarrassing. Do you think it's worth re-submitting, maybe this time without stating the scratch? Or is it useless because they have it in the database already? I will try to sell privately now, but really wanted to avoid it, for the convenience of the trade in. Was willing to take a hit, but didn't think it would be so massive :D

Its like a dealership, they offer wholesale value. Not sure why that unofficial estimate was so high in the beginning. I always expect it to be a super lowball offer. I would think most of the '24 Teslas to still be in great condition... (mine sure is!) Always sell private party if you get lowballed by dealerships/etc!

They want the factories to be producing new cars and would rather not deal with the man power it takes to inspect, recondition and resell used cars.

That’s insane. I got 23k for a ‘22 RWD with 40k km which is still low but they have the 5k extra here so accepted. They did call me after tho so you can discuss. Not sure if they change anything

Sometimes wrong there. I got offered 29.990€ for 2024 RWD model with 25k km. Ireland here

It’s well known Tesla low balls trade-ins by thousands less than Carvana and others. Not that you wasted your time, but it’s the 1000th time someone has complained on this subreddit about it.

As someone in the United States (Ohio), I'm curious whether you have any incentive to trade versus selling? In Ohio, trading in means a deduction in sales tax on a brand new car, based on the value of the trade-in (tax is calculated on purchase price minus trade-in value). It obviously doesn't help if the offer is many thousands of dollars below what you could sell it for, but it can work out well. Obnoxiously, it only applies when buying a brand new car.

Hi! No incentives here, no. But the market over here heavily favors company cars, for tax purposes. Simply put, if you buy a Tesla as freelancer/company, you can deduct the tax on it = it is effectively cheaper for you. 90% of the market buys Teslas as company cars. I'm one of the very few people who bought one as a private individual = no tax deduction = a much smaller market :(
