Is this gap normal?

Thrice_88 | 2026-03-08 01:07 | 9 views

I recently got my driver seat repaired because there was a gap that caused the seat controls to hit the side of the floor causing the seats to move. When I got it after the service appointment this gap appeared the next day.

no

Yuksm4299 2026-03-08 01:12

No there is a dumbass screw that holds the hold thing together on the bottom side. If ur within warranty they will just do it for you. Otherwise irs annoying.

It’s normal in the sense that the tiny little piece of plastic that holds that whole section in place breaks super easy. Both of mine broke. I zip tied it.

How long is the warranty on this? This happen to me too and mine is a 2022

Clu_Rebooted 2026-03-08 01:24

Not normal

You can check your warranty on the tesla app. Scroll to the bottom and check specs and warranty

WilliePhistergash 2026-03-08 01:46

I have a 22 and it’s like that. I wonder if the $50 extended warranty I subscribed to will cover it.

rareshroom 2026-03-08 01:47

Yep. Zip tie if you're out of warranty. Otherwise, it's covered. They replaced the whole panel under warranty with a mobile visit for me.

Wil_Eye_Amm 2026-03-08 01:51

Thank you, I appreciate it! Damn just missed my warranty, expired 2/1/26 🤦🏽‍♂️

R5Jockey 2026-03-08 01:55

I hate that whole panel. Im on my third controller because the pins the buttons clip into keep breaking. Tesla refused to cover it under warranty sayings it’s wear and tear.

Dtracz 2026-03-08 01:58

Both front seats in 21 M3P had to have this repaired out of warranty. Tesla charged $68 to fix both of them.

Doesn't hurt to reach out. I opened a service ticket saying the below if it helps. "The plastic piece holding the driver seat controls juted out when the driver seat was Self adjusting to a diferent driver profile. This makes no sense.A quick search online shows this has been an issue in the model 3 and Y."

rareshroom 2026-03-08 02:07

Yeah that's not right. I recall my buttons were loose as well but only really noticed after the whole thing was just hanging out. I think when they replaced mine it came with new switches/buttons.

Wil_Eye_Amm 2026-03-08 02:14

Will do, thank you! 🙏🏽

Dap1082 2026-03-08 03:24

I noticed this on the passenger side of my Juniper just the other day. Guess I'll be placing a ticket

Ray2K14 2026-03-08 03:35

Same thing happened to my 21 M3 SR+ before switching to a 25 MY

Thrice_88 2026-03-08 03:53

Im under warranty thankfully that’s why I’m trying to get it fixed now.

e1g 2026-03-08 04:44

Can confirm; mine is covered under warranty with mobile service. I noticed the passenger side is about to break, and they will also replace it.

rareshroom 2026-03-08 05:21

Was there something noticeable like the panel sticking out a little?

TheIzo 2026-03-08 05:28

Sir, this is a Wendy's.

e1g 2026-03-08 05:34

on my driver side, the piece looked like the picture. You could move it and was evident that it was broken. On the other side, I just happen to check that the plastic screw was turning white which was indiciating that it was about to break. Here is my picture I sent to Tesla on the passenger damage https://preview.redd.it/mhrilar1erng1.jpeg?width=2247&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b8e073e1e25bc0e400ea57f80aeb230fcf0c04d5

rareshroom 2026-03-08 06:08

Perfect. Will be checking tomorrow.

Rifter0876 2026-03-08 06:47

My passenger side did this used it as an excuse to install carbon fiber seatbacks and used the clips AND 3M super 77 adhesive to put them on, they ain't going anywhere.

Rifter0876 2026-03-08 06:48

Was happening to my 2023 when I bought it 2 months ago. Out of warranty and the deductible on my aftermarket warranty was as much as new carbon fiber seatbacks so I just went that route and used 3M super 77 adhesive and the clips. No movement in 2 months and I fold the seats down regularly to haul stuff, as a matter of fact they are folded down right now with stuff resting against the front seatbacks.

dascolsanders 2026-03-08 16:31

I had the same issue, mobile tech said it was a known issue and replaced all side sills with metal clips, i was out of warranty. I wasnt charged for the clips or labor.

tmblweed85 2026-03-08 17:44

No, neither is all the dirt..let’s clean that up pronto.
