This is definitely an impact, my guess would be a mower or weed whacker threw a pebble or rock and it hit your glass since you’re parked on the street. Do you know if your complex uses a company to do their landscaping or anything like that? When this happened to me they had insurance to cover this and took liability for it.

Background looks like hedges and some landscaping at a townhouse/condo so I'd assume a landscaper hit a pebble with a weed eater.

Definitely an impact from an object from outside the car. Is there anything on the ground near the side of the car? This is something that would be covered by your insurance

Oh that’s badass! Maybe I can go that route I parked in front of another apartment complex. The weird thing is I parked it there at night. 9pm and came To my car at 9am in the morning. So I’m doubtful it was a landscapers because the grass isn’t freshly cut.

Can’t you hook up the usb to see the recordings where it didn’t detect someone? I believe it has a 12-24 hour buffer but I could be wrong on that, the clips you see is what it detects for motion but I don’t know how sentry pro works.

Two hits right by each other? Physics and probability says it wasn’t a weed wacker. That pattern would be horizontal not vertical. Plus those laminated windows are pretty tough. It takes quite the localized impact to do damage.

You can take out the usb stick and plug it in to your computer to see full footage. It’s always recording if sentry is on

If I was to guess, someone tried to break into your car using one of these. Luckily for you, you have laminated dual layer front windows so they likely gave up after it didn't fall to pieces as they expected. That’s not laminated though. And once tempered breaks, the second hit would make the whole thing crumble. Source: I own a glass company and have forgotten more about glass than most people ever learn.

They changed the Model 3 front windows to use laminated glass with the 2020 cars built after October and front and back windows on 2024+ refreshed models. Based on this cars black window trim and door handle it is at least built after October 2020. Guess you forgot to learn that. Did you have anything of value visible in your car? I had someone break my car window and it took them like 5 times smashing it with a brick to get in. Then they jump kicked it 2-3 more times. When they threw the brick the first time and it didn't break, they paused like wtf.

Doesn't the picture showing the shatter pattern and impact point basically imply with zero uncertainty that the glass is both tempered and laminated?

I found one of my old cars like that. The culprit was a tiny rock projected by an edge trimmer from a guy who was doing lawn works in the proximity. Is there anyone with fresh cut grass around the car?

To the layman perhaps. Tempered laminated is extremely expensive and generally only used in areas where you want the glass to be extremely strong (tempered) but also to not crumble apart if it does break (laminated.) The film is helping the glass hold its shape.

No :( I kinda wish there was freshly cut grass so I could just say yes lol. But where I parked the grass has not been mowed for like at least a week.

Yeah 100% the tint was holding it all together! As I was driving it to Tesla to get it replaced every hard bump for the 20 min drive I would hear the glass fall down into the door card. 🤣

Has sentry been on while being repaired? I believe due to the size of usb storage it only store a finite amount of minutes of recording, so it may have overwritten if it’s been on

I saw someone else commented somthing very similar! I had now clue it does that!! I turned in my car to Tesla already once i get it back I’ll plug it in and take a look!!
