Yes! Don’t know how I forgot to add that to the post but I was thinking back and forth for so long and decided Plaid was the right answer. My wallet disagrees but my heart is full

They gave me $17,000 for it and I had 51,000 miles. Definitely a little below my Carvana offer but it was just way too easy to trade in with Tesla plus I got the tax savings. I couldn’t have picked a stupider time to buy the car because there were no real incentives. I only bought it to not miss out on the ability to buy LOL.

I was worried about that myself, and it was almost a deterring factor. Generally speaking you can still find parts readily available for vehicles about 6-10 years after production stops and after that point it gets a little harder. Luckily in six years of ownership of my last Tesla, I only needed two repairs, one for the high voltage and one for the standard battery. Tesla has confirmed they will still be producing battery packs for the model S after production of the vehicle stops, just not the car itself.

Eh, to each their own. I don’t generally like blue cars myself and would never consider the standard blue. I almost went lunar silver and after seeing one in person I’m SO HAPPY to have the color I chose. I also think it signifies a little more with this color being exclusive to 2026, and production stopping in 2026.

Nice. I got the same color. I am jealous they gave it to you with the license plate holder already installed. I even asked for that for mine before I arrived for delivery and they didn't do it and refused to do it despite it being a frequently ticketed offense in my state (for which they can pull you over even if they have no other cause) and the service center being in the state. They claimed it would be easy to stick on myself later. Of course that wasn't true -- the plate they provided was missing all the strips to stick it on and all the screws to put the plate on. So now I'm expected to make a service appointment 9-5 M-F to get the correct parts and drive illegally in the meantime. And no idea when I'll be able to do that since appointments are 5 weeks out and I work from 5a-7pm Mon-Fri.

That’s so crazy because they are not required in my state and I actually specifically requested for it to be left off. Apparently they are not allowed to deliver you the car without it something to do with the crash test ratings being done with the license plate holder and they are not allowed to deliver you a car with different specifications than the crash test rating or something like that. So weird how the same company will give you different answers, depending on who decides to reply. I would much rather have it without the license plate holder and I’m going to have to pay somebody to take it off when they PPF my car.

I ordered exact same combo about 10 days ago and don’t have a vin yet and an ETA of 04/29 - 05/24. How long did it take for you?

You can always add the S3XY commander with the knob or buttons and also the stalks. Highly recommended. I have this on both my 23 Plaid and 24 Highland.

Placed my order on Valentine’s Day and took delivery yesterday so a total turn time of 17 days. My initial date was 7-14 weeks away, but one morning I had a VIN assigned and the vehicle was in production, and then 3 days later it was delivered to the showroom and ready for pickup. I think they are trying to set worst case expectations but then blow you away with it coming in sooner. 2 other people there while I picked up with mentioned their dates moved up as well.

I thought about a S3XY commander but wasn’t sure if I would use it much. Knobs though might be a must. I haven’t heard of people adding these back on I’ll have to do some searching.

People spend more on worse I guess? Resale only matters when you sell. Plus they aren’t making plaid anymore hoping that helps lighten the depreciation. If not though I’d still be happy!

Or fast food, door dash, disposable vapes, booze… Hookers and blow aren’t the only poor way to spend 50k. The average American spends over $3000 on fast food per year. I’d rather not eat McDonald’s for 10 years but enjoy my car and end up at the same point. Heck, even something like using dishwasher pods over detergent is considered a “luxury expense” for some people. I make cuts to some things in life to enjoy others!

I have the same config ordered and waiting for the VIN. Are we able to message Tesla to not install the front license plate holder (California) and the wheels covers on the 21s? Those 21s need not be covered, they look sick.

I refuse to take a test drive in the Plaid because I'm afraid I'd land up buying one like you did!

Mine came with license plate unfortunately, and they said all cars required it to be installed for delivery. They don’t cap wheels on S by default they said but I got a box of new caps in the trunk!

I do luckily and can’t wait to get it removed. Went with the 21’s. I know there’s wheel wear issue but I figured if it’s that big of an issue I’ll either fix with the shims they sell, or buy some 19’s

I’m hoping that won’t be the case, but inevitably it will eventually come to pass. It really was one of my deterring factors however I saw somewhere that Tesla committed to continuing to manufacture the batteries so I won’t have to worry about only refurbished batteries being available. I also saw that generally speaking the first 6 years after a car is taken out of production you’re still pretty easily able to find parts due to existing inventory. I’m trying not to be overly worried about it. I only took my vehicle in two times in the past several years for maintenance and I’m hoping to keep the good luck going.

Awesome you got one, I'd love to buy a plaid soon and trade in my 2019 M3P, but concerned about the longer term implications. To your point, yes, I took my car in once for service in the 7 years I've owned it, so maybe it's not even a plausible worry.

Congrats, slick look! How do your hatch and bumper gaps look? I ordered one in lunar silver, and the gap was so noticeable that I rejected the delivery. Now, they’re trying to fix it, but I’d appreciate it if you could share a picture showing the rear view for comparison. Thx

It is a legitimate question to ask in my book. It was one of my main concerns before just deciding to place the order. I’m really banking on the fact that I have minimal issues on my 2021 model 3 and production has only gotten better so I’m hoping for a little to no issues on the S. I really loved my 3 and one of the biggest reasons I wanted a new car was for ventilated seats, which they now have on the 3. That just felt like a silly reason to buy a whole new car so then I convinced myself to upgrade. Then I figured if I’m upgrading, I might as well go all the way and somehow I ended up with a plaid.

I will shoot you a picture. Mine is not bad but I will say the only repair I need from my delivery is a weird noise when the trunk is attempting to lock. I wonder if they have something weird going on with the trunk right now.
