Paid charging unavailable

paddyposh | 2026-02-26 13:04 | 11 views

Got our new (used) Model Y today and took it to our nearest supercharger. We haven’t had the car move over on the app yet but they had a way to pay with card. However I plugged it in, it charged, and then that was it. But now we have a message to say paid charging unavailable - check unpaid balance Am I right to assume that has gone to the previous keepers app? And if so is there a way for me to sort this out and pay it. Is via a work scheme so not like I can contact an old owner

Supercharger only works with when the app is established and a payment is added. Usually requires you showing proof that you purchased the Tesla, alongside with an ID or something like that. Took me little bit to get approved. Once that is done, you can go supercharging without issues. Kinda surprised that you can just plug it in and it charges but shows unpaid balance that must be kinda new. Until then you have to use a L2 charger through a 3rd party or at home.

You got the first charge on credit. Until the car has a credit card account associated with it, you are not allowed to charge any more charging sessions. Once the credit card account is linked, you may need to initiate paying the balance through the app to resolve the charging block.

My credit card date expired, and I was still able to charge. The Tesla app prompted me to update the CC info.

You should be able to take it to non Tesla DC fast chargers that take a regular credit card until you get the car like transferred to you according to Tesla sorted out.

I bought a Model Y and struggled to get prev owners (fleet company) to transfer it. Needing the v5 sucks, and it got stuck in dvla or the mail. So I decided to use the supercharging everyday till suddenly they accepted the transfer 🤣
