When your VIN is unmatched because you took too long to schedule delivery are you cooked?

Are they gonna put me to the very back of the queue or will they give me priority because I have an old order date?

Here was my experience with that. Ordered a Model S in fall of 2021. Received my VIN in August 2022 (yes that long) but couldn’t pick up the vehicle so they unmatched me. My next opportunity came up a month later. Given the wait times aren’t so bad, I’m not sure you’d be waiting long either way it’s handled. On the other hand, after waiting 4 years for my Cybertruck and the same thing happened with my Cyberbeast, I didn’t take the chance and changed my travel to pick it up before it was unmatched.

If you were to place a brand new order, what’s the wait time?

Hey OP, I went through the same experience and had the same concern. I highly recommend calling them, especially if your specs aren’t too custom. After no traction for 3 days, I called in and the guy said he had 15 matching VIN’s and assigned me a new one on the call. Picked up next day. Feels like if you don’t call in or poke them they might get around to it way later than they should.

Im very involved with, even went yesterday to the showroom to talk to the deliveries manager. They are VERY aware of the problem, but its a MY Performance. They dont make as many of those as the regular one. I dont really know how the production works: do they take note of the pending orders and produce based on that or just make a shitload of everything and wait for managers to snag them manually based on their needs.
