as the title says. the guy in garage said he might need to remove the taillights to do pointless dent fixing, so would that process potentially void the warranty?

I have no idea why I missed the fact that you said pdr in the op. Sorry. Removing the taillights is no problem but obviously warranty won't cover damage done to the taillights during removal or installation.
