Tesla Wall Connector Gen 3 WPA3 Fix

BuddyBing | 2026-02-23 22:39 | 19 views

For anyone having an issue with their Tesla Wall Connector (Gen 3) connecting to a wifi network that has WPA3 enabled, Tesla sent me over a pre-release version of the 26.2 firmware which resolves the issue entirely. I assume they will be publicly releasing it shortly, but here is a link for anyone who wants to resolve this issue in the meantime: [Wall Connector 26.2 Firmware](https://buzzheavier.com/eg0eqjrzyadv) Use this process for updating the [firmware manually ](https://share.google/AzA4FDAvTRlPWDovC).

I assume Tesla has some sort of security on their updates but im not using firmware from a rando on reddit.

Entirely up to you and feel free to scan the bianary... Or go through the process of contacting their customer support, waiting 3 weeks, and getting the exact same file that I attached.... Up to you...

How do you manually update it?

BuddyBing 2026-02-24 13:53

I just updated the post linking to the manual firmware process.

If it's the exact same file - then there's no problem. But figuring out if it's the exact same file - that's a different story. Thanks for the heads-up. Looking forward to 26.2.1 public release.

Fair statement and it is worth it to contact them as you might be waiting a while. https://preview.redd.it/dwrlfehqo2ng1.jpeg?width=1422&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=00ae75ec7a081e7772b257a5c030f31dd30604a9

Thank you for this post. I ran into the exact same issue tonight. I am weary about using some random software binary, but you seem like a trustworthy guy, right? Haha...

BuddyBing 2026-03-05 00:06

You can contact tesla support directly and get the exact same file. Took me around 5 weeks to get a response (after some support ping-pong).

Great. I was hoping for it a little earlier than end of the year. May be I should contact them as I would like to use WPA3 in mixed mode. So, it's been pretty stable for you?

kerpnet 2026-03-05 00:30

Did they attach the file to email or give you a direct link?

BuddyBing 2026-03-05 00:32

They attached it to the email (from the screenshot on an earlier comment).

Yes finally! I have a eero network so it was a giant pain to continue to turn WPA3 on/off (I have the Tesla energy data sent to my Home Assistant instance so needed the data).

kerpnet 2026-03-05 00:39

Much appreciated, thanks man!

sportura 2026-03-05 01:00

So, did you contact them via chat or email? I tried email few weeks ago and all I got was a standard "tips on how to get better wifi signal" email from someone at Tesla.

BuddyBing 2026-03-05 02:38

Yep, contacted them via email and went back and forth on some of their basic "wifi troubleshooting" processes. I eventually just had to tell them that I wanted the 26.2 firmware (as I saw on a few other threads of it resolving the issue).

Thank you to OP for posting this. I contacted Tesla Support (877-798-3752, option 3, then option 4) and explained the issue. After providing my product number and serial number provided on the Wall Connector's Quickstart Guide pamphlet, they sent me firmware version 26.2.0 and instructions on how to upgrade. (Likely the same files that OP posted.) Now my issue is fixed and I can use WPA2/WPA3 mixed Wi-Fi mode. Thanks again, OP.

Can you do us all a favor and compare the binaries so that we can clear up the negativity from naysayers (like u/ScottRoberts79 below)?

kerpnet 2026-03-06 17:01

Using "diff -q" and "cmp" commands to compare OP's file and the file Tesla Support sent me, they appear to be identical, bit-for-bit. I still highly recommend contacting Tesla Support for a few reasons (to ensure a genuine binary, regardless of what two random people on the Internet say, and also maybe it will push them to release this software to the masses more quickly so others don't have the same issue).

Just got 26.2.0 on my UWC. I didn't call or email anyone. Looks like they are releasing it for the masses.

Awesome!
