I got some camera lens covers that fit very nicely on the front camera but do not fit the sides at all or the back very well… My question is, is it necessary to have a cover on the back and sides? Or just the front?
Why do you need a lens cover at all?
I have seen a lot of posts recently from local groups about rocks hitting their camera and costing upwards of $300 to replace, and months of waiting as the part is on back order…so mostly preventative.
The back gets dirty but I don't think it's at much risk of getting damaged from like rocks, neither are the side ones and they rarely even get dirty.

Are these things happening in your area? I've had a rock crack my windshield once in over 25 years behind the wheel.
Yes. I live in a city that’s flooded w teslas and our local Facebook group had like 3 posts in the last week about the cameras getting smashed by debris… I put the cover on my front camera today and when I cleaned it, I already noticed several little chips in the lens.
