Pulling the trigger on new cheaper Cybertruck

pradyots | 2026-02-23 03:51 | 41 views

Title says it all, i think at this price it isn't a bad deal at 5.29% promo APR. (hoping they don't do some .99% next month) Question I have for yall is; in your opinion is paying extra $2500 for the 20" rims worth it or i should go for included 18" rims and get aftermarket rims.

Get the 18s and don’t change wheels until you chew through them. Don’t expect long tire life with an EV.

ConnectionSoft2164 2026-02-23 04:22

Be sure to rotate them. 20's more money for new tires. I am curious if the mileage is mistaken because it is showing the same range for the 20s and the 18s.

tigole 2026-02-23 04:36

It's more efficient with the 18s, but it can't lower its suspension at highway speeds for improved efficiency.

44RON24 2026-02-23 04:48

The vehicle isn’t being released for at least 3 more months

pradyots 2026-02-23 05:06

Yes but you gotta order it now

ConnectionSoft2164 2026-02-23 05:20

But I thought the 59k model does not have air suspension. So there is not adjustment is there?

44RON24 2026-02-23 05:23

Rates will change in the next 3 months is what I meant

pradyots 2026-02-23 05:48

Elon said deal is for 10 days only. I mean Elon words should be taken with a grain of salt but that's what he said

Why

stanley_fatmax 2026-02-23 06:39

This is the use case I've been considering.. 90kWh of EcoFlow batteries and inverters will run you $40k. I know you can DIY cheaper but this is market rate. To get 90kWh worth of batteries, inverter, plus a truck for $60k is an incredible value. You could almost justify Cybertruck for the PowerShare functionality alone. I wanted to do this with the base F-150 Lightning but couldn't find a dealer willing to sell one for a realistic price.  If powering your home with a generator or batteries was ever a consideration for you, this is potentially a great deal.

tigole 2026-02-23 06:47

It doesn't, that's why its range isn't any better.

VegarHenriksen 2026-02-23 09:34

There are way way way way cheaper options to get a 90kWh solar battery setup

Low-Froyo908 2026-02-23 12:11

Buying a new EV, especially a cybertruck, is always a bad deal. it's going to lose 50% of it's value the first mile you put on it.

torqueher24 2026-02-23 13:00

You just described cars in general

stanley_fatmax 2026-02-23 13:58

Yeah as I said, I'm looking at market rate for purchased solutions.

VegarHenriksen 2026-02-23 14:12

Sorry, was tired and didn't see that

lxa1947 2026-02-23 14:26

make sure you use a promo code for $1000 off. mine is in my bio if you're interested.

pradyots 2026-02-23 14:29

Thanks man.. i have MY so im referring myself

Low-Froyo908 2026-02-23 14:59

Yeah, buying a new car is a bad deal. Are we talking "deal" as in a smart financial decision where you get as much as possible for as little as possible? also, this isn't every car. cybertrucks have 0 market. 99% of people hate it. People don't hate a used toyota. People definitely hate a used cybertruck.

ArtificialSugar 2026-02-23 15:01

I think what they’re getting at is that you don’t need to worry about it being 0.99% next month, since you won’t have your truck yet. You can just call in and request the promo rate.

bromanrnd 2026-02-23 15:12

Have you looked at used CT pricing at all? Find me a 40k Cybertruck and I’ll buy it right now.

pradyots 2026-02-23 15:13

Does Tesla do that?

ArtificialSugar 2026-02-23 15:14

They’ve honored current promos in the past if you call in to get it changed. If they refuse but the current deal is ever better than the $250 down payment you made (which going down to 0.99% financing definitely would be) you can forfeit your deposit and just order again. No real worry on pulling the trigger now since it likely won’t ship till summer anyway.

Low-Froyo908 2026-02-23 15:19

does that mean a cybertruck at 60k is a deal? logic

bromanrnd 2026-02-23 15:33

No, but 50% of its value the first mile is nonsense. 2024s with 30k miles are listed for $70k within 1000 miles of my location. New is $79k. Im not arguing what’s a deal and whats not - but there is not a 50% depreciation hit as soon as you drive it.

savedatheist 2026-02-23 15:35

Not sure you can do that.

handydude13 2026-02-23 15:43

For me, saving money and more range would be king over looks.  Check at the tire shop how much a pair 20 inch vs 18 inch of cybertruck tires cost. Don't forget to factor in install costs for a complete picture.

T_Nutts 2026-02-23 16:16

I have a plan to buy a Tesla, I hope the CT is still around then. If it were me, I’d stick with 18’s. I hate buying tires and 18’s are cheaper sometimes and ride better at times also.

pradyots 2026-02-23 16:21

That's what i was thinking, ride quality might be bettet with 18s

Putrid-Box4866 2026-02-23 16:38

Well at this point, there might be another factor since ai think the price is temporary too? So they might have lower rates but SRP might br higher, so yeah, OP just need to calculate later I guess. My experience is they seamlessly reduced my 3.99% to 0.99% before delivery.

Putrid-Box4866 2026-02-23 16:40

People just hate Tesla is general. I don’t even care about that. They would have to pay me more to take my FSD driving car out of my hands.

GettinBreesh 2026-02-23 17:10

Why is efficiency king over looks ? the entire concept of the cyber truck is for “looks” 🤔

handydude13 2026-02-23 17:15

Just personal preference. But I get it. Personalizing ones vehicle makes it special.

44RON24 2026-02-23 21:27

Ya. Gotta love Reddit, you get downvoted for stating facts

vvv21x 2026-02-23 21:57

Keep the 18s and at least look like you’ll take her off-road 😂

pradyots 2026-02-23 21:59

There are 2 things which will never happen, talking it off road or me towing with it ever lol

JRC3292 2026-02-23 22:33

You still have to add $3-4k for a Tesla Gateway total install cost likely. It’s a great deal if you just want raw battery backup power. But the use case isn’t the same as Ecoflow or Powerwalls as they tie in solar and exporting to the grid. The Cybertruck thing makes sense to me if you already have solar and at least one Powerwall bc then you already have the gateway, inverter, etc and can add this as addtl raw battery backup vs more Powerwalls or Ecoflow units.

JRC3292 2026-02-23 22:36

You can order now and decide later. Your question really should be are you willing to sacrifice the $250 order fee if you cancel later.

pradyots 2026-02-23 22:50

To go for 5.29% to .99% I'll absolutely let $250 go

ObeseSnake 2026-02-23 23:04

It's the standard loyalty reward if you are an existing Tesla owner.

AHCofNY 2026-02-24 00:08

Just double check to see if you can get auto insurance at a reasonable cost for it. A number of companies will no longer insure it.

ethiopian_kid 2026-02-24 00:23

the cybertruck secondary market is stupidly strong right now… I think that will change when tesla floods the market with used ones but i’ve put a few vins into carvana and they are offering 75k for ones with 10k miles. the truck itself is polarizing, however it has lots of great feats of engineering… if tesla cuts this model relatively quickly they will hold their value pretty well.

Bitternutcry 2026-02-24 02:42

I would go from the upgrade option. You'll spend more on aftermarket. Not only you have to buy new rims, but set of tires. Easy $4k

billm0066 2026-02-24 10:52

Can you show me a used cybertruck that is 50% below list price please? Doesn’t have to be 1 mile, I will take 15,000 miles.

Dependent_Clock3579 2026-02-24 12:09

Deff get the 20 inch rims

Dependent_Clock3579 2026-02-24 12:10

I have 21’s on a model y. Personal opinion is 18 inch rims going to look corny and a big badass truck like that

-Cyber-Roadster 2026-02-25 00:03

What's the insurance quote?

Yadsam 2026-02-25 02:45

I didn’t know you can do that. I am tesla solar owner. Is the powershare already available?

ConnectionSoft2164 2026-02-25 04:26

I hope you pulled the trigger.

DrOfDelight 2026-02-25 06:54

I thought you were crazy and then went and did the math myself. That is wild. Everything i see is 123kwh? Are you just derating the pack since it’s not lfp?

stanley_fatmax 2026-02-25 13:44

I'm not sure why the 90kWh vs 123kWh, but that's the estimate they give on their site. 3 days of 30kWh. I guess there's some overhead allocated to the truck itself for Sentry etc., and losses attributed to the DC AC conversion.

pradyots 2026-02-25 14:17

Not yet contemplating if i should just go for Premium AWD. Base with upgraded tires is 62500 and premium is 80k. Is the upgrade worth extra $17.5k? I cant decide

ConnectionSoft2164 2026-02-25 14:24

Looks to be sold out.

pradyots 2026-02-25 14:32

I just went on website. It lets you order it

Away_Consequence8787 2026-02-25 15:39

Perfect price and use case for my home setup. Have a 12000XP EG4 with 30 kwh (2 x 15) lifepo4 in the garage (heated). I use a EG4 chargeverter and a 9500W gas generator to charge the batteries in the event of a long power outage. In this case I would just plug the chargeverter to the CT 240V bed outlet and not bother with my gas generator unless the CT was low on charge. Ok ordered yesterday!

Away_Consequence8787 2026-02-25 15:55

Sold out means you can't order it. Which you can. Even on day 1 Feb 19 the earliest estimated delivery was June 2026. Now it's Sept-Oct 2026. Not sold out if you can place a reservation deposit.

Away_Consequence8787 2026-02-25 20:41

No problem. price is going up $5000 easy on March 1st

torqueher24 2026-02-26 14:14

I think Reddit members are disproportionately anti-Elon. I take sentiment on these boards either a grain of salt.

Otherwise-Skirt-8154 2026-02-26 20:11

i placed the order. Can i still add the promo later?

lxa1947 2026-02-26 22:34

I think if you send a message to your advisor you can.

RoverMars2022 2026-02-28 06:58

My agent said $155 per month.

RoverMars2022 2026-02-28 07:01

Ordered one yesterday. No brainer for $60k, this is a massive truck and I enjoyed the ride. Very comfortable inside.

MicrosoftWindows86 2026-03-01 00:26

If you can get cheaper then the cheaper is the market rate. It’s not like ecoflow sets the energy storage market.

stanley_fatmax 2026-03-01 01:31

Purchased solutions was the keyword, not market rate. Cheaper solutions are available but DIY and not permitted to backfeed in my state unless one goes through an expensive engineering review and signoff by the electrical authority.

MicrosoftWindows86 2026-03-01 01:46

They are all purchased. And they are all solutions.

stanley_fatmax 2026-03-01 14:01

DIY is not a productized solution

namognamrm 2026-03-01 16:00

Can you get loyalty reward and 3month FSD at the same time?

MicrosoftWindows86 2026-03-01 18:15

You all are making up terms to justify purchasing a cyber truck lol

stanley_fatmax 2026-03-01 18:25

You seem to be the only one misunderstanding my comment. You can buy premade solutions that you can plug in and use as home backups and/or to feed back into the grid. Cybertruck and the Tesla gateway are one of them, as are EcoFlow etc. On the other hand, you can build solutions based on server rack batteries and inverters, which functionally achieve the same thing, but are impossible to use legally, or require engineering review and permitting to be used legally. If you really want to buy a Cybertruck because of my comment, go for it, but I really don't understand what you're finding unclear. If you want to build a DIY home backup solution, there are good resources on YouTube that I'd recommend before buying a truck.

MicrosoftWindows86 2026-03-03 07:13

lol buy the cyber truck if you want but don’t pretend that battery systems are complex enough to justify the purchase lol

AdditionalLead7265 2026-03-03 23:12

I pulled the trigger, I'll end up going Cyberbeast for sure if they bring back Luxe.

AdditionalLead7265 2026-03-03 23:13

10k

pradyots 2026-03-04 01:32

I pulled it too... AWD Premium
