Tesla service: dealer or independent shop?

Question though, why do you need the camera cleaned? Usually you don’t need to do that unless it’s necessary. My 2018 M3 never got its camera cleaned and never had an issue. It’s not something you do every X amount of time. As for windshield wipers and cabin air filters, doing it yourself will save you a lot of money in the long run. Although the cabin air filters are a bit more tedious compared to other vehicles, it’s still very easy to do.

Tesla service is the same as any other service department or shop, it's 100% location based.  The people that work there make the experience good or bad. The nearest Tesla Service Center to me has been excellent in all 3 interactions I've had with them.

All of these you can do yourself and save a lot. If you go to Tesla the first camera cleaning is free so you may want to use them for your first service to take advantage of that. They may have mobile service come to you for these things as well. Most auto parts stores will install new wiper blades for free when you buy them there.

keeps giving me an error about it, and it messes up the autopilot a lot. im kinda confused about it too, but ive cleaned the outside numerous times and it hasnt fixed it. windshield wipers i can do, but cabin air filters im not willing to. id really like as little to do with my cars maintenance as possible, its just a transportation vehicle for me. id rather just have someone else do it at a small price
