This is in San Jose on 280 N. So many people miss that ramp to 17/880. I see drivers do this once every few months and I don’t even take that route all that frequently. That would be the 280N to 17S in San Jose. A lot of people miss that exit because they aren't paying attention. Also the signage is horrible, they let you know about 1/4 mile away they you need to be in the far right lane for the 17. There's no previous signage about lanes.

Take it from SJSU fairly regularly. The weather around here has been crap lately, and hood rats steal the copper from the street sign lights so it’s a lot easier to make that mistake than people think because it’s not as bright as it should be.

Inspect frunk and rear hatch gaps for uniformity. Look for windshield and roof glass cracks.

You're getting a lot of flak in the comments but I looked at that interchange in street view and the guard rail definitely needs to start a lot earlier than it does, the pavement markings are all worn and in the dark I can see how it would be extra easy to do this. I'd get it looked at and don't be too hard on yourself.

As someone from the UK. I don’t understand the whole “miss my exit” mentality. Serious question, how out of the way is the next exit going to be? In most cases over here. A missed exit is anywhere from a 2 minute detour to a 10 minute detour. Which frankly, I’m not willing to die over pulling some shit like this. Are missed exits like a 30 minute detour or something in the states?

Did you hear a scrape? If so might have some undercarriage damage, good to make sure the battery shield plate is not damaged (scrapes are okay, but dents over a certain size could be an issue). If the car is driving okay and there are no lights, vibrations, and it’s not pulling one way or another you’re probably fine. If you want the added peace of mind, swing by a shop and have them throw it up on a lift to check for any undercarriage damage. It happens we all make mistakes. Don’t beat yourself up over it.

Jumping a curb at 70mph that steep is near certain knocking your alignment off and damage some suspension components. I’d also check the wheels and maybe replace the tires… not all tire damage is showing up immediately.

I did something very similar a few months back. I hate that exit so much. The road looks level, but there is a curb jutting up out of the roadway, completely unmarked. I bent a rim and ended up getting a whole new set of rims a few months later. I still have the three original rims that were not damaged. I’d be happy to sell them to you for cheap if you are in need, but it sounds like you may have avoided any serious damage? You’re a lucky one, mate.

Harbor Freight and Amazon sell the plastic trim removal tools. If it's HW4, you don't need a torx driver. YouTube videos show how to do it.

I have fsd and was certain that it misses the exit so did exactly the same just to find a huge curb. Also, i found that I misread the map and it was the wrong exit. Damaged all 4 wheels.

Was on a weekend trip with my girlfriend a few years back. I noticed that, when she was driving, she would engage her turn signal after she already began changing lanes, and would almost immediately turn it back off before the lane change was completed. It served absolutely no purpose other than to check the "i signaled" box in her mind. It might not have even been engaged long enough for the exterior light on the car to be visible to other drivers. After seeing her do this several times along the drive, I casually said something like "I'm glad to see you're using your turn signal but it's supposed to be warning people around you what you're *about* to do, so maybe it's a good idea to turn it on a tiny bit earlier." She got so furious about my suggestion that I got dropped off at the next exit and had to find my own way home.

I think somethings broken between the seet and the wheel.

Anyone miss the yeehaw junction in Florida. Miss it and pay $20 plus in tolls to get back on I95. 💸💸

That's wild. I have lived in Texas, Tennessee and Kentucky and I have never seen anything even remotely close to 30 miles without an exit. I travel all over the Southeast (Tennessee, Arkansas, Texas, Alabama, etc.) and still.....nothing even comes close. Arkansas may be the closest though......but not even near 10 miles I would say.

It's by far the most extreme example I've seen. There are plenty of longer roads without exits, but none I know of where you can't turn around if you get on them in error.

I think it's a perfect design. Enough of a drop to ruin bad drivers cars and get them off the road, but no so much that they take out other cars in the process. It's a win win I think

I did this very thing in my Honda Pilot 10 years ago, with my wife and 3 youngs kids in car. I thought it was flat and figured I could cut over, not realizing there was a slope. If I didn't steer into the slope, the car would've landed on its side. I like to think all the years of video games helped me navigate that but it was probably dumb luck.

Sometimes it's not luck just a conscious decision when the risk factor is above X.

This is the reason I hate human drivers. Never think ahead, never prepare for an exit, and then insist they can still make it instead of just taking the next one and turning around.....blows my mind.

If it's a low bridge and you're in a semi truck, yes, it is most definitely that important.
