Can't pick up the car. What to do?

1uisf | 2026-02-18 01:53 | 12 views

I am out of town for the next two weeks and got a text saying my MYP vin was assigned and they want me to pick it the car this week because the car is already at the delivery center . Can't make it I am not even in the country. All up to this morning the estimated delivery date was March 7-March 31, so I am guessing someone refused it and got assigned to me. What do they do in this instances? Cancel my order or send me back to the queue? Don't want to lose my $250 or the autopilot spec. I sent a message to the delivery center but they didn't reply and are now closed

I don’t know about now since Tesla doesn’t really follow any procedures. It’s different everywhere and every month. However, in 2022 they cancelled my order and kept the $250. They’re assholes like that. Don’t be surprised if you just have to order a new car because the delivery date they assigned doesn’t work for you

Call the dealership and get a delivery manager to help you!!

They used to send you to the back of the queue which was a big deal a couple of years ago when there were long wait times. Now even if you get sent to the back it’s not a long wait.

I mean if the let me hold it for two weeks I will be fine

They might, just gotta call the delivery center and ask.

This is it. Had to do this myself. Called, worked with delivery manager and picked up a week later when I returned from overseas.

Same situation happened to me. They placed my order in hold and my car went into available inventory. If someone else chose my configuration they would have given that car to the next person and I would get the next one. That didn’t happen. I released the hold when I got home and I was matched back to the original VIN.

If you pay everything and sign all the paperwork in the app they might hold it for you. technically it's your car at that point but they do say you have to accept delivery within three days so if everything's not paid and signed for by those three days the car will go to someone else unless you're extremely lucky.

Definitely do not accept a car you haven’t seen! Soooo bad advice.  What if it’s scratched, chipped, something missing or broken?

Yep they did that, but received an email that this will be the only hold they will allow, after this one they will cancel my order. All good, planning to take delivery in March with no issues
