Compact family EV recommendation?

Looking for EV suggestions for a family of 3 (2 adults & 1 child - needs a booster seat for the next few years). Needs to be fairly compact as we live on a terraced street with parking only on one side. Off-road space available at the back but it’s a pain to access so will likely only use when charging. Usage will typically be short trips (school run, supermarket, etc), and a couple of longer trips during the year. Approx 6-7k miles per year. Looking to keep monthly cost as low as possible (£250 - £300). Not bothered about driving a particular brand or ‘owning fully’. Would be nice to not have worry about maintenance and I’ve seen some good PCP deals on new EVs , but given the risk of dings in our tight parking situation would it be better to go used? Would have up to £4k for a deposit if needed. Been looking at the BYD Dolphin Surf Comfort as an option but would welcome other opinions - and any good deals you might have spotted!

Leapmotor T03 is probably one of the smallest EVs but maybe too small in the back, Hyundai Inster might be another option.

Unless your long trips are like proper full on hardcore road trips then I would say chase the lease deal not the car. Usual caveats are avoid Stellantis like the plague, Kona is your friend, Renault 4, Megane (Renault are smashing the EV thing right now), ID3 perhaps, Cupra Born, new Nissan Leaf? I am totally unaware of what the lease costs are for these, you'll need to shop about, but bear in mind if you go too small then the battery will be small and rapid charging is often slower which can make longer trips a bit of a pain. If only twice a year then that's wearable but just bear in mind. Edit: R4 on leaseloco is saying 2 year lease, 8k miles, £2k down, payments 175pm, plus 350 admin fee. I think the R4 would suit you to the ground. It's only a 52kWh battery and charging is 100kW max, but honestly for that mileage with just a couple of reasonable longer trips each year it would be grand.

How about a Zoe ZE50? Only available used at this point, pretty cheap, small but with decent range and 50 kW CCS rapid charge.

Volvo EX30 Core? It's great quality and loads of features as standard, should come out to that sort of price range.

Loving my BYD Dolphin Surf. I've done 3000 miles in the first six weeks of owning. Few niggles but for £200/month it's been amazing value. Compact but surprisingly spacious and nippy. Infotainment system is good with both android and apple car systems.

VW ID.3, truly much more spacious inside than it looks from the outside. Try to test drive. Pretty good deals on used - f.e. check Octopus EV if you're with Octopus, it comes with some perks like 6p tarrif, home charger, etc. I would stay away from chinese cars if you care to have a customer service worth anything. No parts for even minor things with them.

Whatever you get, test drive it with both your buggy and car seat I’d suggest the Chinese junk if you don’t care about anything
