Take Me To The Mothership! NOW!

UK Seal U DM-i purchased May 2025 Done 3921 miles from new. Out of nowhere, getting this on every start: "Please go to the BYD authorised service store for maintenance immediately" Message appears in orange in the middle of the driver's display, with a crossed spanner and screwdriver graphic. Nothing else seems out of the ordinary. Car continues to drive just fine. It's been preceded over the last few weeks, by occasional similar messages which I've forgotten the exact text of, but something along the lines of "watch out there's a service coming up" I'd made a mental note to ring the dealer but wasn't too concerned, 7 months since new and 4000 miles on the clock didn't seem right for a first service, and the messages weren't screaming, so I figured I had time.. Now all of a sudden, it seems desperate. I can't find anything in the menus or in the manual. Besides the obvious (take it to the dealer) any other info?

What is the stated service interval on the Seal in the UK? In Aus they are down for their 3000km 1st 'service', which is more of an inspection and software update, then its a 20000km/12 month interval. If you haven't had the 1st service, maybe it is getting its knickers in a twist and wants you to go get it done?

3921 miles is approximately 6303.16 kilometers. I suspect you're right But I can't seem to find any solid information anywhere in the manual or the car's menus to tell me when the first service is due, below much much higher timescales and distances ('every 12 months' etc)

There the next maintenance interval (mileage and time) can be set. It may be that your dealer set a first (early) inspection…

Thanks Jaymac If I'm thinking of the right place, it seems pretty sparse in that part of the interface, just a couple of toggles and interval settings - everything seems to be defaulted out to 0. I did have a look in there yesterday. I'll have another look in there next time I get in the car & see what effect changing the editable fields has. Discover more Car telephone Mobile phone I rang the dealer, he's booked it in, says he thinks it's safe to carry on driving it for now & it's probably the computer having a hissy fit due to the cold weather maybe. I might just restrict myself to pure EV mode as much as I can though, just in case there's something up with the petrol side of things

Jaymac, you nailed it not 'defaulted out to zero' - counted down to zero I understand how it works now. Told it it's got a few hundred days to go before next service, or 6000 miles Bingo, message now cleared. Thanks
