BYD Seal vs Mach E vs ?

Hi. Looking through the various threads here, the electric BYDs seem to have pretty good feedback. I’ve just test driven a used Ford Mach E premium, and much as I wanted to love it, it was probably just too much of an SUV for me (defo not a Mustang!). I’m currently driving a i30 sedan N-line manual, so thinking I should probably get another sedan in my EV quest. I’ve driven a Tesla Model 3, which was a good drive, but I just don’t like their tech, and the new ones are too exxy for me anyway. A BYD Seal premium is the same price new (54K) as the 2023 Mach E I drove, but I haven’t driven a BYD yet. Anything else in that price range I should look at? Not going novated lease, have a Mazda CX9 for family duties, but need to seat 5 occasionally … (I really want an N, but fuel crisis…)

Have you looked at the Mazda 6E

BYD over the Ford every day. We tested it when we bought the Sealion, big fan but we weren't ready to go full EV yet, plus I wanted a sunroof that actually opens.

Mazda 6E or the BYD seal. I’d get BYD seal myself

I'd test drive all the EV cars in the price you ate looking and see which is best for you. Don't limit to just two models.

Sounds like you will do well with a Seal.

I own the Byd seal premium, I'm very happy with this purchase.

Thank you, that’s all great feedback. I’ll book in for a test drive and see how long a lead time there is on them. Love the FLW username, btw…

I know what you mean about the sunroof. I’m in QLD and love driving the Mazda with the sunroof open. But only after sunset!

Hadn’t thought of the 6E, I’ll see if they have one at my Mazda dealership, wasn’t sure if they were out yet

Mid 2026 on the 6E, but RWD and decent range by the looks of it

If they’re not out I’m pretty sure you might be able to order them now I’m not sure Anyway hope you find a good one

Be interesting to compare with the Seal. I suspect that suspension will be a bit soft, even with the local tune....

I don’t know if anyone’s driven the actual Australian spec yet, but an Australian review I read, driven in an EU car, stated the suspension was tuned more to a Western liking than typical of Chinese EVs

Yeah fingers crossed I guess...
