Throttle delay on BYD Seal U DM-i Design — is this normal?

Hi everyone, I own a BYD Seal U DM-i Design and since day one I’ve noticed a strange behavior: whenever I press the accelerator, the car takes about 1 second to respond. It doesn’t matter if I’m starting from a stop, driving in the city, on the highway, parking, or even in reverse — there’s always a noticeable delay between pressing the pedal and the car moving/accelerating. I bought the car remotely, so I couldn’t test drive it beforehand, but this has been happening since I picked it up from the dealership. I even notice it in launch control mode: when I release the brake, the car still takes about a second before accelerating. Before this car, I drove a Tesla Model 3 Highland and never experienced anything like this, so it feels especially strange to me. Has anyone else experienced this? Is this normal for this model or BYD plug-in hybrids, or should I get it checked? Thanks 🙏

Its the same for BEV Seal so not a fault with your car. Maybe they do it so you have split second to change your mind before driving through your garage door? 😀

My design definitely does not showcase the same behavior. So even when at full capacity and you floor it, it does that?

Yeah it takes a second before the car to start moving.

Same here, if it feels like a second, wondering why/how. Have you performed a launch yet? So, sport mode and set the dash to timer to check what it will do 0-100 kmh?

It starts counting when the car starts to move, i think my best time was 6.1 or smth

It could be, but I’d rather have more control over the car, especially when parking in my garage since I have to reverse into it and it’s on a slope, which makes it a bit tricky.
