Steering assist resets to sport mode

Hi, new seal owner from ICE Honda Civic of 12 years, had it for 5 weeks now. The car is lovely to drive but like many drivers, still adjusting to the changes and coping with things I don't like. In particular I have noticed that my selected choice of steering assist set to 'comfort' resets to 'sport' at some point. I have turned off and on the vehicle and my comfort setting is still there, I have turned it off, locked it, unlocked it, turned back on and my choice is still there. Sometimes when I drive I switch the whole car to Sport mode and then to Eco mode but it's not very often. So I suspected this would change the steering assist and leave it in sport but after testing this, it does not. Do anyone know why the steering assist would automatically switch to sport mode even when I drive all the way in Eco mode? Thanks. Autos & Vehicles

After some experimentation over a few regular working days I've found somewhat of a clue. I think 'snow mode' is involved in this as I use it at least once a day when climbing onto my garage at the end of a steep driveway. I've found that when I turn snow mode on the steering assist mode disables and cannot be changed. This makes perfect sense because the car needs to overwrite the electric steering in this mode. First I made sure my steering assist mode is set to comfort before I activate snow mode, then turn snow mode on and start my climb. It's happened like 8 out of 10 times but after the car is parked in the garage, when I disconnect snow mode and turn off the car, or if I turn off the car and turn it back on and then disconnect snow mode (which stays on between power cycles), steering assist mode is set to sport. For now, when I start my driving day I am checking that the steering assist mode is set to my preference, then confirm that the setting is still set as I left it at the end of the day before I use snow mode. I suppose this will confirm there is something I'm doing in a particular sequence that triggers this. In the absence of reliable BYD documentation about this (and many other areas of the available tech), trial and error might help find a pattern. I hope this also helps anyone wondering at the same things as me.
